Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Cultivation in Progress

The Root Organization acted quickly. Just after Mokgetsu reported to them, a Root ninja silently appeared in his courtyard the next morning.

"This is an order from Lord Danzo." The Root ninja handed two scrolls to Mokgetsu.

Mokgetsu nodded and took the scrolls.

He first opened the scroll that contained the mission.

As before, the Root ninja didn't waste words and left immediately after delivering the items.

Sensing the disappearance of the Root ninja's presence, Mokgetsu went inside to check the contents of the scroll.

Similar to previous times, the beginning was filled with PUA content, praising Mokgetsu for completing the mission excellently, not failing the organization's nurturing, but needing to continue working hard.

Mokgetsu focused on the content at the back.

Danzo had answered Mokgetsu's previous question about whether to bring Asuma into the Root Organization, stating that it was unnecessary.

Danzo said Mokgetsu only needed to teach Asuma normally, becoming an important teacher to him, and should not do anything unnecessary. He also admonished Mokgetsu to avoid revealing anything unusual.

This answer was more or less what Mokgetsu expected.

Bringing Asuma into the Root Organization would be like Danzo playing Hokage in the office, waiting for regret.

Though the Root Organization is not weak, its current strength relies heavily on absorbing nutrients from the Anbu. It's very easy for Sarutobi Hiruzen, the actual Hokage, to control the Root.

Additionally, he was instructed to keep a close eye on the Uchiha students, evaluate them to see if they had any anti-Konoha tendencies, and note any geniuses who could be absorbed into the Root...

As for the other scroll, it contained several high-grade secret medicines that are hard to acquire, as a reward for Mokgetsu's excellent mission completion.

Mokgetsu stored away the scroll containing the secret medicine and burned the other scroll.

"In this world, even a slightly stable life has become a luxury..."

Mokgetsu swept the ashes into the trash bin, gazing indifferently into the courtyard.

This kind of life, where he would wake up in the morning to find an armed ninja standing in his yard, made him uncomfortable.

But Mokgetsu had no choice now.

He had thought about whether he should reveal his strength while teaching Asuma, making Sarutobi see his value, and then transfer to the Third Hokage's group to solve the curse seal problem.

He quickly dismissed this idea.

He could transfer by earning Sarutobi's appreciation, but not by exposing his strength.

Sarutobi Hiruzen did not know his exact strength or ninjutsu. As long as he didn't reveal something like the Water Cutting Wave technique, it could be explained.

But it's different with Danzo. The original host was nurtured by Danzo, who knows too much.

If he transferred by exposing his strength, Danzo might just inform the Third and then handle Mokgetsu as a spy.

Mokgetsu believed there were only three situations where he could reveal his strength. One, if Danzo planned to use him as a disposable tool, then he would expose his strength and find an opportunity to escape.

Two, wait until his strength reached the level of the Sannin, allowing him to make significant contributions during the war for Konoha.

Even if his strength's origins were uncertain, Mokgetsu would only become a hero, not a spy.

The third situation is when he possesses the power to topple Konoha. At that time, whether to reveal or not would be irrelevant.

Mokgetsu adjusted his expression and went to the Ninja Academy with a gentle smile, entering the office and the classroom.

Without sufficient strength, it's better to be a warm and gentle man liked by everyone.

...

On Saturday, Obito went early to the training ground to start his training.

He picked up a palm-sized block of ice, placing it on his hand, and started chakra nature transformation cultivation.

In about ten seconds, the ice block disappeared, with the water on the ground serving as proof of its existence.

Beside him, Mokgetsu nodded.

Six days ago, Obito's melting speed was even slower than natural melting.

To improve to this level in six days surpassed expectations.

After all, he hadn't anticipated discovering the cooking skill, nor that this life skill could be useful in nature transformation training.

Advancing to such a realm in a short time, Mapo Tofu was indeed a great contributor.

"You've got the hang of nature transformation," Mokgetsu said as he pulled out a head-sized block of ice from a wooden tub and placed it on the ground.

"Your next target is to melt this block in ten seconds," Mokgetsu announced the initiation of the next training stage.

"Huh? That's way too big!" Obito scratched his head, looking at the head-sized block of ice, feeling it was a significant increase.

"This time, you're pursuing the limit of instantaneous nature transformation. Don't worry about chakra consumption, use your full strength, and rest when tired. Continue when well-rested."

This stage requires time and grinding, unless one has Naruto's vitality and chakra to freely create numerous shadow clones to gain experience.

Though not comparable to Naruto's cheat, Obito is already doing well compared to ordinary people, thanks to training and special culinary boosts.

By noon, Mokgetsu instructed his three disciples to stop their training.

"You've probably grown tired of the same dishes every day. Today, we'll have hot pot," Mokgetsu said with a smile.

Even with skill bonuses, students would be happy with the same dish every day. However, Mokgetsu aimed for higher trust levels, so he needed to do better.

"Great, finally no more ultra-spicy tofu," Obito jumped with excitement.

It wasn't that Mapo Tofu wasn't delicious, but eating it every day made bathroom trips excruciatingly painful.

"I've only prepared the broth. As for the ingredients, it'll depend on what you find," Mokgetsu continued.

"I want fish!" Obito said, pulling out a kunai and jogging to the river to spear fish.

"Let me help you!" Enthusiastic Might Guy dashed into the water at high speed, causing water to splash everywhere.

Obito, who was searching for a chance to spear fish, got completely soaked.

"Guy!" Obito's fists clenched.

In the next moment, Might Guy surfaced with two fish, looking bewildered at Obito, asking, "Obito, did you call me?"

"Yeah, I wanted to say you're awesome, Guy, truly a great buddy," Obito quickly changed his tone, praising Guy upon seeing the two fresh fish in his hands.

Shisui dug up some wild vegetables and mushrooms in the forest.

All three worked together to take down a wild boar.

Might Guy drew attention, Shisui was the main attacker, and Obito assisted, with all three working together to capture the boar.

Mokgetsu first cooked the broth, then processed the ingredients they brought.

He divided the work among several shadow clones for speedy ingredient preparation.

In fact, only the boar and fish required some effort, as the wild vegetables and mushrooms were simply washed, halved, and put in directly.

They didn't light a fire, using Obito's hand as a human heater, also considering it as practice.

The master and his three disciples resolved their lunch by sourcing materials in the forest.

Despite the simplicity and the ingredients being locally sourced, the food wasn't as delicious as Mokgetsu's regular cooking, but Shisui felt very happy and warm.

This was an experience he seldom had since losing his parents at a young age.

[Disciple Uchiha Shisui's trust level increased, current trust level three]

Eating the fish from the pot, Mokgetsu also smiled.
