Chapter 90 - Chapter 6: The Old Man on Life Support Is Not to Be Messed With (1/5)

In Mokgetsu's memory, the Third Shinobi War was incredibly chaotic, with everyone attacking each other and then ganging up on Konoha together.

The Hidden Cloud attacked the Hidden Sand and Konoha, the Hidden Rock attacked Konoha while sneaking up on the Hidden Cloud, and the Hidden Sand repelled the Hidden Cloud and, seeing everyone else attacking Konoha, joined in too.

The Hidden Mist, which rarely participated in the Shinobi Wars, saw how lively it was and thought it would be out of place not to join, so they started attacking Konoha as well.

The Kazekage disappeared, so let's attack Konoha.

The Hidden Cloud barbarians are too despicable, so let's attack Konoha.

In any case, if you're unsure who to attack, you just attack Konoha.

In the Third Shinobi War, Konoha almost had this kind of encounter.

If it weren't for the sudden appearance of the formidable Namikaze Minato, the outcome of the Third Shinobi War would really be uncertain.

"Ten thousand Hidden Rock ninjas besieged the Third Raikage, Yahiko was forced to death by the combined efforts of Danzo and Hanzo, Nagato got blackened, Uchiha Madara orchestrated Obito's descent into darkness, and Might Duy opened the Death Gate to turn the Seven-Swords Ninja into the Three Treasures of Auspiciousness..."

Mokgetsu recalled the major events of the Third Shinobi War and couldn't help but lament the dangers of the Ninja World.

According to the original story, Nohara Rin would soon run into Kakashi's Lightning Blade and die, Obito would go insane, and Might Guy's father, in order to protect Might Guy, would open the Death Gate and make the ultimate sacrifice.

Shisui alone seemed not to have suffered anything during the Third Shinobi War and even made a name for himself as Shisui of the Body Flicker.

However, since Shisui activated his Sharingan during the Third Shinobi War, Mokgetsu believes something must have happened that Shisui never wanted to see.

"Not much time left for development..."

Mokgetsu remembered that not long before Obito turned dark, Kakashi had just been promoted to Jonin, becoming a Jonin at the tender age of twelve.

Kakashi and Obito were the same age, and now Obito was only eight, which meant that if things were to change, he only had four years left to spur his development.

As for Might Guy's incident, although uncertain about the exact time, it likely occurred during a heated phase of the war and wouldn't differ too much.

Might Guy's incident wasn't so bad. After all, it was just bad luck to run into the Seven-Swords Ninja. With three to four years of development, Mokgetsu believed he could handle it.

Obito's situation was quite troublesome.

On the surface, it looked like a tragedy caused by normal warfare, but it was actually a man-made conspiracy.

To change Obito's descent into darkness, his opponents weren't the Hidden Rock or Hidden Mist ninjas, but Uchiha Madara and Black Zetsu hidden in the shadows.

If one were optimistic, his opponents were merely an old man who needed tubes to sustain his life and a pile of black mud.

If one weren't optimistic, his opponents would be Indra's Chakra reincarnate, the only living holder of the Rinnegan in the Ninja World — Uchiha Madara, and the third son of the Chakra ancestor Otsutsuki Kaguya.

And he, Habu Mokgetsu, was just a Chunin teacher at the Ninja School.

"Mokgetsu, what are you daydreaming about?"

Kushina's voice woke Mokgetsu from his contemplations.

Mokgetsu sighed and then explained, "I was just pondering whether the war might affect us in Konoha."

"Konoha isn't a pushover like the Hidden Sand. If anyone wants to start a war with Konoha, they need to consider the consequences," Kushina said, confident in Konoha's strength.

"Habu's concerns aren't unfounded. Once the war starts, anything can happen," Minato said solemnly.

His thoughts were even more pessimistic than Mokgetsu's. While Mokgetsu was only considering whether the war would affect Konoha, Minato was sure that the war would indeed spread to Konoha.

In peacetime, the name of the Number One Ninja Village could deter minor threats, but once a major war began, Konoha, bearing the Number One title, could easily become a target for ambitious ninja villages seeking fame.

Saying your ninja village is strong means nothing, but if you can beat up the top-ranked village, then you are truly strong.

After Minato and Kushina finished their meal, Mokgetsu also left the main district to teach his disciples.

First, he taught Might Guy the Soru technique for a while, then oversaw the footrace between Obito and Might Guy today.

Today, Might Guy won again by a narrow margin, but neither broke their limits.

Mokgetsu's rule was that breaking limits meant the new record would be the limit for the next contest, not the initial limit data.

It's naturally hard to achieve daily breakthroughs consistently, and Mokgetsu wasn't disappointed.

Nonetheless, this training method was certainly useful, and Might Guy's enhanced proficiency was the best evidence.

Mokgetsu called an end to Shisui's ongoing cultivation and said, "Let's pause the Soru practice for now. Today, I'll teach you a new Fire Release Ninjutsu."

"This Ninjutsu is called Fire Release: Impatiens Claw Red, a B-level Fire Release, which has great destructive power at close to mid-range," Mokgetsu explained about the Ninjutsu he was about to teach.

If the teaching target was Obito, Mokgetsu would first teach the Impatiens Fire Jutsu, followed by the upgraded version Impatiens Claw Red.

But the teaching target was Shisui, whose learning ability was strong, so Mokgetsu didn't worry about Shisui learning quickly enough.

Mokgetsu brought Shisui to an open space.

"Fire Release: Impatiens Claw Red!"

Mokgetsu formed hand seals and spat out a large burst of flames while simultaneously throwing over a dozen shuriken toward the wooden target dummy.

The shuriken passed through the flames, merging with them, and over a dozen shuriken turned into flaming small fireballs striking the wooden dummy.

The sharp shuriken severed the arms of the dummy, piercing into its body, while the flames attached to the shuriken ignited and burned the dummy's body to ashes.

What makes the Impatiens Claw Red stronger than the Impatiens Fire Jutsu is the incorporation of shuriken.

The sharpness of the shuriken combined with the high damage of the heat from the Fire Release makes it very difficult to completely dodge at close range, causing serious damage upon a hit.

[You have taught your disciple Fire Release: Impatiens Claw Red. Your disciple was extremely grateful and rewarded you with a critical hit, gaining the Ninjutsu Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Bomb (Proficient level)]

Mokgetsu nodded to himself, considering it a small victory.

The Fire Dragon Flame Bomb is also a B-level Fire Release Ninjutsu. In Mokgetsu's memory, it was a Ninjutsu of the Third Hokage, with a very wide attack range and fierce flames, making it a rather powerful Fire Release.

After Mokgetsu demonstrated and explained it a few times, he let Shisui try it himself.

"Fire Release: Impatiens Claw Red!"

Shisui replicated Mokgetsu's actions, exhaling flames and then flinging shuriken, aiming the flame-imbued shuriken towards the wooden dummy.

Perhaps due to it being his first practice, Shisui didn't completely get it right, as not all the shuriken carried the flames.

Mokgetsu used the Identification Jutsu to glance at Shisui's panel; the proficiency of Impatiens Claw Red had already reached thirty-two. With a bit more practice, he could master it.

As he expected, Shisui's learning ability was strong, and with Mokgetsu's teaching skills, learning Impatiens Claw Red directly was fast.

Two days later, Obito believed he had the strength to complete the challenge and reapplied to Mokgetsu for another challenge.
