Chapter 122 - Chapter 35: Launching the Large-Class Pilot (2/5)

"Teacher Mokgetsu, good morning."

"Ah, good morning to you too, Teacher Kubo."

"Teacher Mokgetsu, have you had breakfast? Want to have a meal together after the meeting?"

"I've eaten, thank you."

In the morning, perhaps the news of Mokgetsu's promotion to Special Jonin had already spread among the teachers, as many more people greeted him.

Fortunately, Mokgetsu now had a good memory and could remember the names of almost everyone he interacted with, handling it all quite gracefully.

The first meeting of the new school year was a general assembly for all teachers, held in the lecture hall.

However, the Third Hokage didn't come this time; it was led by the class leader of the teachers.

"As the new semester begins, I hope everyone continues to work hard in their teaching duties, striving to cultivate excellent ninja for the village," the class leader of the teachers said.

The class leader of the teachers was evidently a somewhat ordinary leader, whose opening words made Mokgetsu reminiscent of the speeches school leaders used to give. Whether it was useful or not was debatable, but it was certainly dull.

The first assembly did not contain much substantive content; it mainly showcased outstanding teacher cases from last semester for everyone to learn from and announced any significant job position changes.

"Teacher Mokgetsu will serve as the grade director for the first grade, responsible for the teaching arrangements of the first grade," the class leader of the teachers said with a big smile while announcing Mokgetsu's position.

"Teacher Mokgetsu is an outstanding teacher at the Ninja Academy and worked tirelessly to train students during the holidays, serving as a role model for everyone," the class leader of the teachers continued.

Mokgetsu stood up to respond briefly.

The teachers applauded enthusiastically; no one was surprised by this.

Apart from the Third Hokage, the honorary principal, Mokgetsu was now one of the only three Jonin at the Ninja Academy and had been promoted to Special Jonin due to his outstanding teaching ability, so the promotion was perfectly normal.

"Jonin Mokgetsu, congratulations on the promotion," Kimura Sugihito joked.

"Indeed, Jonin Mokgetsu, to be promoted from an ordinary teacher to a grade director in just one semester, enviable," Iketani Isamu remarked with a smile.

Ueda Aya joined the conversation.

They were all from the same small office and seemed to have a good relationship, or at least it looked good on the surface.

"You can call me Mokgetsu as before; attaching 'Jonin' feels strange, and I'm not even an official Jonin, just a Special Jonin," Mokgetsu said with a gentle smile.

"A Special Jonin is still a Jonin, but indeed calling you Mokgetsu feels more comfortable," Iketani Isamu chuckled.

"Teacher Mokgetsu, we must celebrate your promotion and raise; let's go for drinks at the izakaya tonight, my treat," Iketani Isamu invited, still having plenty of the bonus from being an outstanding teacher.

"I'm coming too," Kimura Sugihito said, wrapping his arm around Iketani Isamu's shoulder.

"You can come, but you pay for yourself."

"Mokgetsu treats, and I pay for myself?" Kimura Sugihito directly put him in a chokehold.

"Okay, okay, I'll treat," Iketani Isamu decided, considering Kimura Sugihito had lent him money to tide over tough times before.

"What about me?" Ueda Aya asked.

Then, Ueda Aya raised her voice to mimic a coquettish tone toward Iketani Isamu, sending shivers down his spine, who quickly said everyone could join.

Mokgetsu nodded with a smile.

Occasional small gatherings with colleagues he didn't mind. However, Mokgetsu himself was very busy, so he usually sent a Shadow Clone to attend; with the skills of Iketani Isamu and the others, they couldn't tell the difference.

Mokgetsu felt a bit strange, considering how his clones suffered in different worlds while here, the main body was teaching hard and the clone was going for social drinking sessions.

There was no choice; the clone technique didn't have his skills' effects, so for the students to become stronger soon, he mostly personally taught them, so the students would receive the skill teaching's blessing.

In the afternoon, Mokgetsu was in another meeting, but this time it wasn't a large meeting; it was a small one. Only the grade directors of each grade and the head of teachers attended, held in a meeting room.

The head of teachers was the class leader of the teachers.

This meeting had a lot of substantive content, primarily deciding on the teaching arrangement for the semester.

"Director Shimotsuke, I have an idea that might alleviate the teachers' teaching pressure," Mokgetsu said.

Everyone looked at Mokgetsu. Although he was a newcomer, no one dared to underestimate him because he was a teacher valued by the Third Hokage.

Shimotsuke Hisanobu smiled and nodded, saying, "Currently, the teachers do indeed have a high teaching pressure, and the schedules are very full. What is Teacher Mokgetsu's method?"

"Integrate courses and conduct large class teaching," Mokgetsu said.

"By arranging the same courses of two or more classes at the same time and having one teacher teach them together, it reduces the number of teachers needed from three to one for three classes," Mokgetsu noted.

The teachers in the meeting room showed thoughtful expressions, feeling Mokgetsu's idea was indeed good and very useful for reducing teacher pressure.

"Wouldn't this affect the quality of students' learning?" Shimotsuke Hisanobu thought out loud.

It sounded good, but could one teacher handle so many students?

Even if teachers are under pressure, it should not affect the quality of students' education.

"I've already tested large class teaching during the summer special training, and the results were quite good. The students made noticeable progress," Mokgetsu explained with a smile.

There were two grade directors present who had visited with the Third Hokage.

"Indeed, I recall Teacher Mokgetsu teaching in three groups," a grade teacher said.

"Yes, a total of three hundred fifty-nine students, divided into three groups based on their learning progress," Mokgetsu replied.

"Actually, we could start with a pilot teaching project, for instance, just in first grade, initially experimenting with theoretical courses," Mokgetsu suggested.

He had already prepared his arguments and rehearsed various scenarios, all going as he had anticipated so far.

"Only in first grade and only for theoretical courses…" Shimotsuke Hisanobu thought about it for a moment and found it feasible.

First graders were far from graduation, and experimenting for a semester wouldn't hurt, plus even if theory classes suffered, as long as practical skills didn't decline, it was acceptable.

"Then I'll leave this matter to you, Teacher Mokgetsu," Shimotsuke Hisanobu eventually nodded in approval.

"Yes, I'll do my best," Mokgetsu nodded with a smile.

Everything was proceeding as he had planned.

Next, as long as he assigned more large classes to himself, boosting the strength of Class 1 in first grade and reaping the reward of the top training task from Obito, soon his strength would see a small surge again.

...

On the other side, Danzo was informed by Anbu to visit the Hokage Office.

Danzo didn't take issue with this; as a high-ranking official in Konoha, holding crucial positions, it was very normal for the Third Hokage to have matters to discuss with him.
