"It's Friday!" Obito eagerly answered the question.
"Tomorrow is Thursday, and Teacher Mokgetsu probably isn't asking what day it is," Nohara Rin corrected.
She thought Mokgetsu wouldn't ask students about something as simple as what day it was, not to mention it's not something you'd call three people for.
"I've had Shadow Clones attend school lately, so I haven't paid much attention to the days—it turns out today is only Wednesday," Obito laughed and explained, scratching his head.
"Could it be that it's the day of discounts at the barbecue shop? Or an anniversary of some sort for being a teacher?" Obito continued to speculate.
"Are you going to teach us a new, super-strong Kinjutsu?" Might Guy guessed.
"Probably not, we haven't even mastered the Breathing Technique yet. Besides, Shisui seems to be absent," Obito noticed something was off.
"Tomorrow is Shisui's birthday," Mokgetsu revealed without further suspense.
"I didn't call Shisui on purpose, so we can give him a surprise tomorrow," Mokgetsu explained with a smile.
Being straightforward is good, but Mokgetsu believed that the sudden surprise would yield more results, and there might be an unprecedented critical hit in the extreme emotion, bursting with mastery-level skills.
"So it's Shisui's birthday," Obito had a look of sudden realization.
"It's actually tomorrow, why didn't he tell us earlier?" Obito scratched his head, somewhat puzzled.
He felt that starting preparations tonight might already be too late.
"Maybe he didn't want to trouble others," Nohara Rin thought and said.
She'd joined later, and hadn't known Shisui as long as Might Guy and Obito, but it had been about two months.
The impression Shisui left her was of someone who quietly finished everything alone, seldom wanting to bother others.
During daily cultivation, Shisui mostly focused on researching by himself. If he couldn't figure it out, he would then go to Mokgetsu for questions, which was quite different from Obito, who quickly sought Mokgetsu for answers whenever he faced problems.
"How can it be troublesome? Helping a friend celebrate a birthday is only natural, right?" Obito was even more puzzled.
"Let's not discuss that for now, let's discuss how to celebrate Shisui's birthday first," Mokgetsu said.
Obito's character meant that it was difficult for him to understand Shisui's actions at the present moment.
"Buy a birthday cake," Obito suggested.
"I'll give him a nice athletic outfit," Might Guy said enthusiastically.
"Since it has to be a surprise, let's keep Shisui in the dark until the last moment. We could start decorating his room with birthday decorations,"
"After all, Shisui spends all day with Teacher Mokgetsu and doesn't go home, so it should be easy," Nohara Rin proposed.
Mokgetsu nodded, as when it came to daily matters, Shisui and Nohara Rin were more reliable, while Obito and Might Guy were more of the active type.
"We just don't know where Shisui's house is," Nohara Rin continued.
"I know, I know!" Obito volunteered immediately.
Both he and Shisui were from the Uchiha Clan, living in the Uchiha district, so their homes weren't far apart.
"Alright, so tomorrow, everyone will act as though they're engaging in normal cultivation, then find time to decorate the room, and finally surprise Shisui when he returns at night," Mokgetsu thought it over and said.
All the disciples nodded in agreement.
After discussing the plans, everyone returned to their homes.
...
The next day, Shisui got up as usual and, after finishing his morning routine, first used a Shadow Clone to go to school.
He then went to Obito's house to call him to train together.
"Goodbye, Grandma," Obito said while bidding farewell to his grandmother, quickly heading to the entrance to change shoes and leave.
"Take good care of Shisui, he's younger than you," Grandma reminded.
After Shisui had visited Obito a few times, Obito's grandmother got to know him as well.
"I know," Obito replied, even though he felt Shisui didn't really need his care.
"What's for breakfast today? Shall we have Uncle Teppanyaki's pancakes, or go to the street for dumplings?" Obito asked.
"Just go wherever you want, Obito," Shisui replied.
Unless choosing between Mokgetsu's cooking and non-Mokgetsu cooking, Shisui would choose to go with what his friends wanted to eat.
"Let's go to Uncle Teppanyaki's then, it's nearby, and we haven't been there for a few days," Obito quickly decided.
Even in a ninja clan like the Uchiha, there were some ordinary people who hadn't become ninjas. The Uncle Teppanyaki Obito mentioned was one of them, whose full name was Uchiha Teppanyaki, running a pancake store.
The two were munching on pancakes as they headed to the Southern Border Forest, even helping an old lady who had fallen along the way.
When they arrived, they greeted Mokgetsu and started their training.
Obito continued working on his Single-Handed Seal technique, while Shisui kept practicing Full Concentration Breathing.
"Breathe intensely, concentrate," Shisui whispered, running swiftly while controlling his breathing rhythm and Chakra, constantly increasing his speed.
The simultaneous use of Chakra and breathing technique quickly drained Shisui's stamina, forcing him to take breaks.
"The explosive power is still insufficient, more practice is necessary," Shisui reflected on his training session while resting.
His Full Concentration Breathing was not concentrated enough to achieve the explosive results Mokgetsu talked about.
During Shisui's break, Obito came over to ask about his insights on Single-Handed Seals.
"Speaking of gifts, what kind of gift would you like, Shisui?" Obito asked.
"Gifts? Why this question out of the blue?" Shisui was confused by the sudden shift from Ninjutsu to gifts.
Seeing Shisui's puzzled expression, Obito, worried he might suspect something, hurriedly added:
"Haha, since I've been bothering you a lot recently, I thought I might give you something. Or is there something you'd like to eat, like ramen?"
"It's just friends helping each other out; you don't have to do that," Shisui replied.
Since Obito always had a playful nature, Shisui didn't suspect anything for the time being.
Later, Obito was nudged by one of Mokgetsu's Shadow Clones for being distracted during training.
In the afternoon, with Obito's Shadow Clone leading the way, Mokgetsu and the others were brought to Shisui's house.
"Does Shisui live in such a big place all by himself?" Might Guy remarked upon entering and realizing Shisui's house was quite large—three times the size of theirs.
"These structures were probably built during the village's founding," Nohara Rin, with good history grades, recalled similar architectures from her textbooks.
"Those details don't matter, let's start setting up—the class is about to begin soon," Obito said.
"Be careful while decorating, don't damage Shisui's things," Mokgetsu reminded them.
He selected items that were easy to clean up, hoping clean-up after Shisui's birthday celebration also went quickly.
