Chapter 195 - Chapter 97: The Secret to Controlling Might Guy and His Father

"Haha, if I could be promoted, who would want to be a Genin for life?" Might Duy laughed loudly, but there was a hint of loneliness in his eyes.

If he had been willing to remain a Genin, he wouldn't have trained in the Eight Gates day after day for ten years.

Training in just one form of Taijutsu for twenty years, without practicing anything else, was a huge mental and physical challenge.

In the end, he did learn the Eight Gates as he wished, but it took too long. During this time, his performance made him a despised figure, with no opportunity to prove himself.

Don't even mention A-Class or B-Class Missions; even D-Class Missions were hard for him to get.

D-Class Missions were often subsidized by the village to train newly graduated ninjas, not for the incompetent to retire on.

However, Might Duy thought these experiences weren't entirely bad. At least they toughened his heart, making it stronger. The hardships he endured weren't in vain; they were experiments for Might Guy. He wouldn't let Might Guy follow his old path.

"The current situation in the Ninja World is chaotic; the Land of Thunder and the Land of Earth are plotting against the Land of Fire. At a time when Konoha is lacking in combat power, it's unreasonable for a Taijutsu master like Senior Dai to still be a Genin," Mokgetsu said with a look of pain.

Apart from the special case of the Special Jonin, there are only three ranks for ninja positions, and each new rank is a qualitative change.

Genin on the battlefield can only follow orders and are always commanded, while Chunin can lead when carrying out less critical tasks, and Jonin are the main combat force in war, usually serving as team leaders on missions.

Then Mokgetsu spoke with Might Duy about the skirmish they encountered during the C-Class Mission.

"If this continues, the Ninja World will become increasingly chaotic. Perhaps a great war will break out soon," Mokgetsu sighed.

"Has the situation reached such a point?" Might Duy's expression became serious.

As a perpetual Genin, it was difficult for him to obtain information related to war, as no one would share it with him.

"For some special reasons, I have easier access to see the Third Hokage. If Senior Dai is willing to use the Eight Gates, it might not be possible to promote you to Jonin, but becoming a Chunin shouldn't be a problem," Mokgetsu nodded.

After becoming an intern teacher, he didn't immediately quit his tutoring position, but he no longer taught at a fixed schedule every week as before.

Might Duy would not suffer too much damage with the Six Gates open. This means Might Duy could be considered an ordinary Elite Jonin; with strength like that during wartime, Mokgetsu did not believe that Sarutobi Hiruzen would not be moved by such power.

Sarutobi Hiruzen might not directly promote Might Duy to Jonin due to his history and achievements, but becoming a Chunin shouldn't be an issue.

There are two ways to be promoted to Chunin: one is through the Chunin Examination. Konoha has two Chunin Examinations every year, and a strong performance can lead to promotion.

The other way is through contributions, which means achieving a certain number of missions to earn promotion.

Everything in Konoha requires tasks. Teaching at the Ninja School like Mokgetsu is considered a task, and various actions during war are also calculated as tasks.

It's naturally impossible for Might Duy to take the Chunin Examination; Might Guy's birthday is tomorrow.

Although Might Duy's mission data does not meet the requirements, his strength is high, which can make up for part of it.

Once he becomes a Chunin, Might Duy will have the chance to show his abilities, and then using his strength and accomplishments to become a Special Jonin won't be difficult.

As for becoming a Jonin, Mokgetsu felt it was a bit difficult because Konoha currently had very strict requirements for Jonin. A specialist like Might Duy would find it hard to become an Official Jonin unless he made major contributions in war.

"Even just opening the Six Gates, Senior Dai, your strength surpasses many Jonin. Becoming a Chunin is more than enough."

"Senior Dai, what do you think of my proposal?" Mokgetsu asked, looking at Might Duy's rugged face.

"Excellent, as expected of you, Teacher Mokgetsu!" Might Duy nodded readily, giving Mokgetsu a thumbs-up.

"Thank you so much!" Might Duy stood up and gave a deep bow to Mokgetsu in gratitude.

While Mokgetsu was speaking, Might Duy thought of many things.

The first thing he thought of was how to repay Mokgetsu's kindness, but then he realized he had nothing to give.

The only thing he knew, the Eight Gates, Mokgetsu also knew, and Mokgetsu's strength was unfathomable; without using Ninjutsu, he could surpass his Six Gates strength just by opening two gates, so Mokgetsu didn't need his help.

But in the end, Might Duy agreed to Mokgetsu's proposal, not because he wanted to prove his strength to others, but for Might Guy.

He had cultivated this path, and he knew that building a strong body required money; various supplements and cultivation elixirs were expensive. Without money, the consequence was a lower limit with many hidden injuries remaining.

In the past, it was one thing not to have the opportunity, but now the opportunity was in front of him. If he didn't seize it, he wouldn't be a qualified father.

Accepting Mokgetsu's kindness and being unable to repay it would make him feel guilty, but not seizing this opportunity to smooth Might Guy's development path would make him feel even more guilty.

"Senior Dai, there's no need to thank me like this. I'm doing this for Konoha as well," Mokgetsu said with a smile.

Now that Might Duy agreed, it was certain that tomorrow he could give Might Guy a big surprise.

"I also have a Cultivation Elixir for Taijutsu Ninja, which can eliminate hidden injuries in the body. I'll give it to you, Senior, to celebrate your promotion in advance," Mokgetsu took out an elixir from his Ninja Pouch and handed it to Might Duy.

Now that elixirs could be bought directly with money, they weren't as precious as before; helping Might Duy now was helping Might Guy in the future.

"Eliminate hidden injuries? At my age, I don't need it. You should take it back or leave it for Guy," Might Duy shook his head, refusing.

Having accumulated a body full of hidden injuries over the decades, one elixir was not enough. He would rather save it for Might Guy.

"I've already saved some for Guy. This one is extra. You can try it out, Senior," Mokgetsu placed the elixir in front of Might Duy.

Although Might Duy was reliable, Mokgetsu needed to see him take it to feel assured. The elixir's effect was too good; if it went out, it could cause trouble.

"After all, I am not as skilled in the Eight Gates as you, Senior. You'll have to teach Guy more in this regard," Mokgetsu used his trump card.

He had realized how to handle the Might Guy father and son: to provoke Might Guy with gold coins and work on Might Duy through Might Guy.

Mokgetsu spoke to this point, and Might Duy wasn't a shy person, so he swallowed it in one go.

Might Duy quickly felt a warmth, which gradually enveloped his whole body, and finally, he felt unprecedentedly light and relaxed.

Might Duy knew that he owed Mokgetsu once again, as this was definitely not a simple elixir; the effect was too strong and immediately noticeable.

He felt that if he could take more of this elixir, his stagnant strength could improve again.

"Senior, you should stay at home tomorrow. The Third Hokage may want to see your abilities firsthand. If needed, I'll send a Shadow Clone to find you," Mokgetsu reminded.

Might Duy nodded and gave a thumbs-up to indicate there was no problem.

"The tea is ready," Might Guy trotted over to pour tea for Mokgetsu and Might Duy.

After drinking a cup, Mokgetsu bid farewell and left.

"They really only chatted for a while, huh?" Might Guy rubbed his head as he watched Mokgetsu's departing figure.

"Dad, what did Teacher Mokgetsu want with you?"

Might Guy asked curiously.

"Haha, it's something quite powerful and youthful. Once completed, it will definitely amaze you, Guy," Might Duy laughed heartily after drinking the hot tea.

Mokgetsu instructed him not to tell Might Guy before the outcome, as the matter wasn't guaranteed, to avoid Might Guy's disappointment if it didn't succeed.

"What could be so mysterious?" Might Guy was even more curious.
