Chapter 292 - Chapter 169: Konoha: Victory Is Within Reach

An ordinary day, Mokgetsu, who had just finished training with his disciple, walked home towards the city center.

On the way, Mokgetsu discovered that there was actually an official Konoha newspaper for sale today, so he casually bought a copy.

Konoha has its own official newspaper, established during the time when Senju Tobirama served as the Second Hokage. However, this newspaper is neither a daily nor a weekly, but rather a sporadic publication, meaning it is published irregularly.

It is generally only issued when major events occur, such as wars, if Konoha achieves a great victory, or when a new Hokage is appointed. At these times, the newspaper's circulation is especially large.

After returning home, Mokgetsu sat in a chair and checked the newspaper contents because, since the purpose isn't to make money, an issue is essentially worth looking at if it's been published.

"The frontline troops have dealt heavy blows to the Hidden Rock Ninja Squad twice in a row, and victory in the war is in sight!"

At first glance, Mokgetsu saw the conspicuous headlines above, clearly indicating that this newspaper was mainly about the war.

"The Hidden Rock Ninja Squad launched an unprecedented surprise attack on our frontline positions with a plan, dispatching two Jinchuriki, the Four-tailed Jinchuriki and the Five-tailed Jinchuriki, as well as elites like Explosion Release Gari from the Hidden Rock Demolition Squad among their ninja forces. Facing the sudden attack, our ninjas fully embodied the spirit of the Will of Fire, with the frontline commander Jiraiya personally leading the elite squad to counter the Jinchuriki…"

The beginning part talked about the surprise attack Mokgetsu encountered while executing the food delivery mission, focusing on how Jiraiya embodied the Will of Fire to protect the frontline ninjas and successfully severely injured the Five-tailed Jinchuriki, while also highlighting how outstanding Konoha Jonin Namikaze Minato was in achieving such results in the war and why he was called the Yellow Flash.

It wasn't until reading the newspaper that Mokgetsu realized that shortly after they left, Konoha and Hidden Rock had engaged in another battle, where Konoha took the initiative, pushing the Hidden Rock Squad back to the border between the Land of Earth and the Land of Grass.

Mokgetsu also saw his name in the newspaper, though it was in a far-back section.

In the newspaper, Mokgetsu was also depicted as an inheritor of the Will of Fire. Although he was only carrying out a C-rank food delivery task, he resolutely chose to step onto the battlefield and fight for the village's protection. During the battle, he defeated the powerful Explosion Release Gari and also participated in repelling the Jinchuriki, playing a significant role.

Actually, Obito and Kakashi also made it into the newspaper, though they were not named individually, instead being collectively referred to as members of the squad led by Mokgetsu.

"From now on, I won't be an unknown Special Jonin," Mokgetsu thought to himself as he put down the newspaper.

As Konoha's official newspaper always reports major events whenever it's published, its sales are considerable, with most ninjas buying it, as well as civilians who are concerned about the state of the Ninja World.

Although he was only mentioned briefly in the back, not many people appear on the newspaper with their full names, and those in the know understand the significance of his achievements. It's quite hard to directly become famous in Konoha, but it can still stir up a wave of discussion in the ninja circles.

Becoming famous is beneficial for Mokgetsu, as sometimes you indeed need this to accomplish things.

However, it's not without its drawbacks, such as how Danzo, who hasn't paid attention to him, might remember him again as a subordinate taken away, especially now that he's grown quite strong.

Fortunately, Mokgetsu was very well-prepared, and he had no loopholes in any aspect. Danzo couldn't possibly take him back to work in Root again, as Sarutobi Hiruzen would remind Danzo who the Hokage is.

This newspaper didn't significantly affect Mokgetsu's life as he maintained a routine life of commuting between two places, either teaching disciples in the Southern Border Forest or studying Fuinjutsu or developing Breathing Technique at his city center home.

Nonetheless, it indeed had some impact on his Shadow Clone teaching at the Ninja Academy.

Some teachers who saw the report were shocked to find Mokgetsu's name in it. They might not know the strength of Explosion Release Gari active on the Land of Grass battlefield, but they understood the significance of playing a significant role in repelling Jinchuriki.

Jinchuriki are the trump cards of the Five Great Ninja Villages and the most terrifying presence on the battlefield. This is the general impression most ninjas have of Jinchuriki.

Yet, Mokgetsu was able to play a substantial role in such a high-level battle, which was quite beyond the expectations of the Chunin teachers.

"Teacher Mokgetsu, you actually went to the battlefield with Lord Jiraiya to repel the Jinchuriki!" Kimura Sugihito said, utterly shocked.

If one day Iketani Isamu told him that a pretty girl was pursuing him, it might be about the same shock as the report gave him.

Although Kimura Sugihito knew that Mokgetsu was different from them, with strong teaching abilities valued by the Hokage, becoming vice class president of the teaching class within less than a year of joining the Ninja Academy.

But Kimura Sugihito always thought that Mokgetsu simply had strong teaching abilities, and deep down he believed that even though Mokgetsu was a Special Jonin, he wasn't that much stronger than them.

Kimura Sugihito once thought it was just a ninja with the same name as Mokgetsu until lunchtime when a casual question confirmed it from Mokgetsu's Shadow Clone.

"No wonder, Teacher Mokgetsu, you took a leave recently, was it because you were on the battlefield so you didn't have time to replenish your Shadow Clone?" Ueda Aya speculated.

Mokgetsu nodded. To prevent excessive fatigue accumulation, the Shadow Clone he placed in the Ninja Academy is regularly dispelled, maintaining a level that won't have too much impact on memory flow. Sometimes, if a mission takes longer, he'll have to take leave.
