On the fifth day back in Konoha, the Ninja Dojo certification came through, and Mokgetsu went to the Ninja Dojo to select Ninjutsu.
He could choose ten Ninjutsu skills, and if chosen well, they could significantly enhance his apparent strength.
He didn't have many good Ninjutsu that he could publicly use; usually, he used traceable Ninjutsu. Mighty Dragon Fire and Fire Dragon Flame Bomb were given to him by Danzo, and Vacuum Orb was a reward from Sarutobi Hiruzen.
Besides, he had also legalized some fairly ordinary Ninjutsu through various opportunities. For instance, when teaching Asuma, he used Water Array Wall and Water Dragon Bomb. Because he was observed by the Third Hokage or Anbu, these two Ninjutsu were recorded under his name. He also used a Water Rush Wave in the battle with a Tailed Beast.
However, this method could only be used for very common Ninjutsu, which Sarutobi Hiruzen wouldn't mind him knowing.
Konoha mainly controls high-level Ninjutsu and Kinjutsu; after becoming a ninja, learning ordinary Ninjutsu isn't difficult.
Moreover, in battles, a ninja generally doesn't use many Ninjutsu; most damage is dealt using Taijutsu and Ninja Tools. Learning many Ninjutsu also isn't very useful since there's not that much Chakra.
If Mokgetsu were to use a Water Cutting Wave, it would be problematic since it's a high-level Water Release technique developed by Senju Tobirama, which most people, even Root members, cannot learn.
Mokgetsu wondered if the Ninja Dojo had Tobirama's Water Cutting Wave. If they did, he definitely wanted to choose it, as mastering it would prove his Water Release talent.
Initially, Mokgetsu thought the Ninja Dojo would be hidden in a secret location protected by a Barrier, but upon visiting, he found it wasn't on the surface at all; it was built underground, with a ninja guarding the entrance.
Mokgetsu presented his credentials, and after a careful look, the guard nodded and opened the door.
Inside the door was another middle-aged ninja on duty, to whom Mokgetsu handed his credentials.
"You can select any ten Ninjutsu regardless of rank, but I suggest you choose ones that suit you rather than simply looking at the Ninjutsu rank," the middle-aged ninja advised as he took the credentials.
It was rare for someone to get ten selection opportunities at once, and since Mokgetsu seemed very young, the middle-aged ninja gave him an additional reminder.
The Ninjutsu rank assessment actually doesn't focus on power but on the difficulty of learning the Ninjutsu. The higher the rank, the harder it is to learn. Choosing a lot of high-level Ninjutsu raises questions about whether one can master them and how long it will take.
Of course, it's not that high-level Ninjutsu isn't powerful. In fact, they are generally quite strong, and their difficulty lies in incorporating high-level Nature Transformation and Form Transformation, along with various profound Ninjutsu knowledge. Therefore, their power is not lacking, but they are challenging to master, possibly wasting a lot of time.
"Thanks for the reminder," Mokgetsu replied with a smile.
Although the advice didn't apply to him, it was appropriate to thank someone for their kindness.
Mokgetsu scanned the entire Ninja Dojo, which was similar in layout to Konoha's library, only smaller.
Each shelf two meters high was filled with various Ninjutsu Scrolls, with a little card in front of each scroll providing a simple introduction to the Ninjutsu.
Mokgetsu first went to the Water Release Ninjutsu area. Regarding the Five Major Basic Elements, he could publicly use Wind, Fire, and Water, making these priorities slightly higher.
Mokgetsu read through for a while and indeed found Water Cutting Wave. The card labeled it as extremely difficult, recommending it only for ninjas who are master-level in Water Release and proficient in Form Transformation.
Mokgetsu took down the Water Cutting Wave Scroll right away and continued browsing. He also saw other Water Releases developed by Tobirama, but he didn't choose them. Holding a single Water Cutting Wave, he walked out of the Water Release area and entered the Fire Release area.
Not finding any Headache, Mokgetsu went straight to the Wind Release area, as his publicly known Fire Releases were sufficient.
Perhaps Wind Blade is unique to the Hidden Sand Village, Mokgetsu didn't find it here, but he did find Cyclone and picked it up immediately.
He encountered Cyclone twice during classes; it was more practical than Great Breakthrough for both combining Ninjutsu or standalone use.
Next, Mokgetsu picked a Lighting Release Thunderclap, chose an Earth Release Earth Flow Wall, and then selected Mystical Palm Jutsu and other Ninjutsu in a series.
Being able to publicly use Mystical Palm Jutsu was quite important for him so that he wouldn't have to sneak around healing his disciples and could approach Tsunade as a Medical Ninja.
After selecting, Mokgetsu went to the entrance to register with the on-duty ninja.
Seeing the ten Ninjutsu Mokgetsu selected, the middle-aged ninja struggled to keep composed; among the ten Ninjutsu were six different Chakra Nature Changes, all B-level and higher advanced Ninjutsu.
"Are you sure you want to choose these? You can still change them now, but once I register them, you won't be able to switch," the middle-aged ninja reminded one last time.
"I'm sure. Thank you for your help," Mokgetsu nodded with a smile.
The middle-aged ninja, seeing Mokgetsu nod, said no more and helped Mokgetsu complete the registration.
After choosing the Ninjutsu, Mokgetsu went to the Southern Border Forest to continue teaching his disciples. Besides teaching, Mokgetsu also cultivated the Water Release: Great Waterfall Jutsu given to him by Sarutobi Hiruzen.
To better establish his image as a genius Ninjutsu ninja, he sought out Sarutobi Hiruzen for guidance and then performed the Ninjutsu taught by Sarutobi Hiruzen in front of him.
Possibly due to having Master Level Water Attribute Chakra Nature Changes, along with many memories of cultivating Water Release in his mind, Mokgetsu progressed quite quickly in his cultivation—much faster than his previous impression of the original mastering Fire Release—taking about a week to learn the Great Waterfall Jutsu thoroughly.
