Elena's POV
Reaching the Kord estate, I tried as much as possible not to gawk at the expensive buildings.
"When you see the lady I showed you earlier, ignore her and follow me," Lady Ophelia whispered as she led me to the mansion.
I nodded, and the woman approached us the moment she saw us coming. I sighed. I take after her… or Jennifer takes after her! She almost looks like my mom! But there's still a lot of difference.
"Sweetie, where have you been?" she said. I kept a straight face and followed Lady Ophelia.
"Stop there!" I heard a deep voice behind me. I almost flinch, that must be the famous Mr Kord!
Lady Ophelia was stunned to see him. She looked at me nervously, and that was when I knew things wouldn't go as planned.
I turned to him and raised a brow.
"You're marrying Elijah tomorrow. His men will come for the things tomorrow."
I looked at them in disbelief. "Wait, what? Didn't Aunt Ophelia tell me tomorrow it's just for dinner?" I asked in confusion and looked at her. She told me it was only for dinner. Could it be that I skipped the part where they said I'll marry him?!
Mrs Kord chuckled and held my hand warmly. "Don't worry, darling. It's just a six-month marriage to shut old man Gilbert's mouth," she said.
I looked at her in confusion. Who is old man Gilbert? I gave Lady Ophelia a questioning look.
She cleared her throat. "I'll talk to her. She'll marry Elijah tomorrow."
"Hmm! Good for you," Mr Kord snorted. "You're all spoiling her too much. If we don't marry the Gilberts, how are we supposed to secure our second most powerful?"
I followed Lady Ophelia with a grim expression. It seems Jennifer's father cares about power more than anything. I suddenly felt pity for Jenny, she'll be controlled till she dies. Unlike me, who can do whatever I want.
Reaching Jennifer's room, I turned to Lady Ophelia. "You didn't tell me I'll marry him tomorrow."
"I think I told you that… but I thought he'd start with a date. I don't understand the man. But believe me, just do your thing. He won't care about you. We'll talk more during your free time."
I sighed and sat on the bed. I looked around the luxurious room and sighed again. This room is so expensive and… sigh.
"I'll try my best to help her since she's helping me too," I murmured.
Four maids entered and started packing most of Jennifer's clothes into travelling bags.
"Elijah's assistant said you should be ready by 8 a.m.," Lady Ophelia said.
"That's too early," I murmured.
"Don't worry. Marrying you is just to shut everyone's mouth. Most people have already started suspecting he's gay."
My eyes widened. "Really?"
She rolled her eyes. "We aren't sure," she chuckled. "But he's never had any rumours with ladies, except going out with his secretary, Anna. His personal assistant is very good at handling the media. You won't be criticised after the divorce."
I sighed deeply and nodded. "I hope so," I smiled. I hope he's gay! I'll be free.
"Don't even try to challenge him if he's gay or not, or else he'll fvck the stubbornness out of you just to prove it."
"What? Why would he do that?"
Ophelia rolled her eyes. "He's a man, for Christ's sake. Thirty-two, for that matter," she chuckled. "Just because he keeps his distance from women doesn't mean he can't have sex. You'd better be careful."
I nodded but smiled. Well, I don't mind trying… not all business tycoons are good in bed, that's why some rich baddies prefer marrying mafias.
"Elena…" Ophelia's voice snapped me out.
I looked at her. "Hmm?"
"Don't even think of touching him without wearing gloves."
I blinked several times. "Wait, what? Why?"
"He's allergic to dirty things."
I pointed at myself. "You mean me?"
"Chill, not you. He doesn't like sharing spoons, clothes, or anyone touching him."
"Then how is he alive?" I asked in disbelief. I've never heard of that type of thing before.
Ophelia chuckled. "His maids are all in white and are very clean, all in white gloves. His secretary and assistant handle everything for him. His secretary takes care of him at work while his assistant follows him everywhere."
"Well, we might not even be seeing each other," I finally agreed, since he's a workaholic.
Ophelia nodded. "Exactly. He's always on business trips. You'll just have to act like a loving couple."
"I'm confused. Why can't he just tell his parents about this?"
Lady Ophelia rolled her eyes. "He'll be set up with a lady and…" she shook her head. "He wouldn't like that."
I took a deep breath and nodded. Tomorrow is another day to face!
