Chapter 56 - Chapter 54: Valuing Spiritual Civilization

Upon hearing, Sage looked over, "Disaster?"

The laborer slave said, "Captain, I heard the guards mention your name, saying you are a very ruthless pirate, having destroyed many places and killed many kings."

Another laborer slave raised his hand, "Yes, I heard it too, the news reported that you are like a disaster, wherever you appear, destruction follows..."

"Yes, Captain, I heard it too, I didn't believe it at first, but you destroyed a major bridge, that's incredible!" Another laborer slave said.

"That was Garp who destroyed it!"

Sage corrected, "I didn't take down many kings, just took down three, that's all."

He's honest, he does things straightforwardly, not deceitfully.

However, the words he uttered made these laborer slaves admire him even more.

Those were kings!

Regardless of whether it's a non-member nation or a criminal, most have states, and where there's a state there's a king. Growing up under rule, they've never doubted king's authority, even if discontent arises, it stays buried inside.

Now there exists someone who has genuinely killed three kings... those were kings!

"You truly are Captain, achieving easily what we cannot!" The laborer slaves cheered again.

"Alright, alright."

Sage waved them off to stop their cheering. He looked up at the splendid starry sky, thought for a moment, and said, "Already have a title... can't do anything about that."

A pirate crew, that's just what it is, typically lacking deliberate naming, but if none at all, not really true, as Sage himself wants to name it.

After all, starting a venture, how can one not name it?

But now since there's a title, the name he chose is naturally nullified. In the world, either pirates name their crew, or after the captain gains fame, it's named after his actions or traits.

'Red Hair' truly has red hair, 'Whitebeard' truly has a white beard, these are traits.

As for actions, someone having many children and being massive, thus on the sea, there's 'big·mom' appearing.

And the one possessing most Zoan-types being called 'Hundred Beasts' pirates.

The former is traits, the latter is actions.

And Sage, due to his actions, is deemed 'Disaster', so the future pirate crew would naturally be Disaster Pirates.

"Then this ship shall be called 'Death Star'!"

Between North Star and Death Star, Sage thought it over and chose the latter for the ship's name, saying, "This will be our flagship for Disaster Pirates; as for you, strive hard to become officers, perform excellently, and I'll let you captain one of our pirate ships!"

"Oh!!" Over six hundred people on board cheered collectively.

Only the officers remained indifferent.

Lily is the navigator, Renedia is the boatman, Marika is the cook, the three haven't considered becoming captains though they're indispensable on the ship.

Lily swore to follow Sage as his navigator, having no interest in becoming a captain, switching between ships would affect her work.

Renedia wants to follow the first ship she's built, watching it sail through the winds and waves, testing if the ship truly can withstand all oceanic climates and gales, the maintenance and reinforcement materials need her presence to make.

As for any captain titles, there's no interest.

Marika, also lacking interest, was half-forced onto the ship by Sage, wanting to focus on making filling foods and delicacies, disinterested in other matters, sticking with Sage seems fine.

Gin has no interest either, admiring Sage, he's loyal, preferring to serve under Sage, acting as the General Commander, leading pirates to faithfully execute Sage's orders.

Only Pearl and other pirates joined the cheering, showing excitement on their faces.

Becoming a division ship captain is decent, Sage, being an ambitious captain, aims for a large fleet, much like Krieg in the past, after all, they were East Sea Overlords.

He is the closest presence to the officers, performing well would soon land him a captaincy of a new ship.

Being a pirate, advancing in rank is naturally desired!

Sage swung his arm energetically, laughing, "Let's celebrate our new recruits, let's hold a feast! Marika, can we handle the food for so many?"

"Ah, feeding so many, it's quite fulfilling, I alone can manage." Marika smiled gently.

She had sustained many with her culinary skills in the Shallow Sand Kingdom, and now the ship's supplies are sufficient, she can handle it.

"Let's have a feast then, hahaha!"

Sage laughed heartily, "Let's get lively, everyone!"

"Oh!!"

The laborer slaves had their shackles easily removed, these were simple iron chains, requiring no special skill, Sage sat on the first floor hall throne, as people came up one by one, casually slicing them to free those shackles completely, liberating them, thereby completing a mysterious progression.

From laborer slaves, they became Disaster Pirates!

The ship holds a place for bathing, though there's not much fresh water, truthfully being pirates, long durations without baths is typical, ship's fresh water, reserved for drinking. But Sage enjoys a good life, surely bathing, others as they please.

As these guys join his pirate crew for the first time, cleaning up is normal, especially as fresh laborers, can't leave without a bath.

The ship lacks sufficient freshwater, thus finding an island is essential.

He had Lily locate a water-rich island, sailed over, allowing pirates to bathe well on the island, as for clothes, there's no chance to change them now, wait to find an island with a town.

The bonfire lit up, Pearl led people moving supplies between ship and island, settling food and drinks, the bonfire intertwined with starlight, the glow beneath the stars emitted like a dome of firelight.

On the island, over six hundred found their voices, some cried aloud, others fought, devouring meat large bites, and scooping wood tankard's rum, drank in three mouthfuls, then burst into tears.

They got out!

They set sail upon the sea, truly grounding their feet, not to mention life's elusive cuisines they now relish, merely the quenching rum, some have never tasted until now.

This realization, instantly led to their loss of control.

Sage sat on a wooden crate, picking an ornate bottle, drank a mouthful, his lips smiled.

It's meant to be this way, once they've vented, their inner knots will dissipate, at that time, each emerges as a valorous man.

Paying heed to subordinates' mental well-being, like this, an elder should do.
