Chapter 16 - Chapter 15: The Book Confiscated by Konan

Hattori Heikawa was still pondering.

Because Uehara Naraku only gave him one opportunity, but hinted a little, which is that this twelve-year-old boy wanted to hear some romantic stories for men.

However, romantic stories for men come in many categories.

As a ninja who has been through life and death situations, Hattori Heikawa's favorite stories, of course, are the ones in "Make-Out Paradise"!

Except, some of the stories in there are not suitable for children.

Hattori Heikawa pressed his eyebrow firmly, perhaps judging by this kid's age, he probably doesn't understand the wonders of "Make-Out Paradise"?

Should he try to ask tentatively?

After the Stinger of Hidden Rain thought for a long time, he looked at the boy who seemed to be growing impatient and hurriedly asked first: "Well, have you heard of 'Make-Out Paradise'?"

"..."

Uehara Naraku's impatient expression immediately disappeared, and he slowly raised his head, his eyes filled with curiosity, confusion, and longing.

Even through the gas mask, Hattori Heikawa could see the thirst for knowledge in his eyes. For some reason, he felt that he and the two Genin would definitely survive.

"Give me the book, and get lost."

Uehara Naraku extended his hand.

Actually, he wasn't particularly curious about what was written in "Make-Out Paradise", mainly because there were several side quests related to the "Make-Out Paradise" series.

There are many book-related side quests.

It's just that the rewards for these side quests are unknown.

When Uehara Naraku had just transmigrated here, he bought that unsold book "Strong Willpower Ninja Chronicles", and after reading it, received a reward of 100 Chakra points.

Perhaps this also proves that many in this two-dimensional world actually like to read, which is why such a side quest appeared in the system.

Hattori Heikawa gritted his teeth, and pulled out an orange book from his Ninja Pouch, handing it to Uehara Naraku: "Make-Out Paradise is very popular in The Hidden Rain Village, I had to wait in line for a long time to buy this copy."

"Hmm."

Uehara Naraku reached out and took that precious book.

When Uehara received a copy of "Make-Out Paradise", the system in his brain dinged, who knew that just getting a book would complete a side quest?

Side quest: Acquire a copy of "Make-Out Paradise", reward 100 Gold Coins.

There actually are such simple missions, which proves that someone does desire such simple wishes. Is this book really that interesting?

Uehara Naraku instinctively opened the book's title page, casually glanced at a few lines, and whispered: "Hmm, this book is kind of interesting..."

Hattori Heikawa clutched his chest, and slowly stood up: "Then, can we leave now?"

"As you wish."

Uehara Naraku stopped flipping through the book in his hand, looked up as Hattori Heikawa left with two Genin, and suddenly called out to him with a smile: "Wait, when you get back to The Hidden Rain Village, don't forget to tell Hanzo of the Salamander, that we killed the Salamander today, and soon it will be his turn!"

"..."

Hearing the brat insult his leader, Hattori Heikawa just gritted his teeth, without turning back, simply leading his two subordinates away.

The three lucky escaping ninjas didn't communicate completely during their escape, some random words drifted on the wind, reaching Uehara Naraku's ears.

"Captain Hattori, that guy looks quite young, yet he's so powerful already..."

"Yes, judging by his build, he should only be twelve or thirteen!"

"But starting to read 'Make-Out Paradise' at such a young age, this brat is sure to go waste, right?"

"..."

Uehara Naraku couldn't be bothered to deal with them, he spared these two Genin and Hattori Heikawa's lives just on a whim, anyway, they wouldn't dare disturb Konan and the Salamander's battle.

Seeing off that group of Rain Village Ninjas, Uehara Naraku reflected on his gains this time. Advanced mission 2 was completed, and for advanced mission 3, only two more Chunin were needed to complete it.

In addition, there was a copy of the precious "Make-Out Paradise".

Following the principle of not wasting resources, Uehara Naraku began to search the system panel for tasks related to "Make-Out Paradise", soon finding some relatively simple ones.

Side quest: Collect two volumes of "Make-Out Paradise", reward unknown.

Side quest: Read the entire "Make-Out Paradise", reward unknown.

Side quest: Read "Make-Out Paradise" with emotion, reward unknown.

Seeing the third side quest, Uehara Naraku's eyelid twitched involuntarily: "...how can there be such embarrassing tasks?"

But such simple tasks could be done, only needing to pick a suitable place, definitely somewhere quiet and uninhabited.

A light breeze blew.

Uehara Naraku felt his hands empty.

When the boy looked up again, he only saw sheets of Origami folding into the shape of Konan, killing a Salamander Ninja Beast without a master directing it was still quite easy for Konan.

Konan was holding that copy of "Make-Out Paradise" in her hand, her brow tightly furrowed, her face looking very displeased.

Uehara Naraku hurriedly tried to explain: "Teacher Konan..."

"No need to explain."

As soon as Konan returned, she saw the cover of "Make-Out Paradise", feeling a bit familiar, as if she had seen it on some bookstore's advertisement. It's a very popular book, being Jiraiya's disciple, she naturally had heard of her teacher's magnum opus.

Out of curiosity, Konan had once secretly lined up to buy a copy, naturally, she was very disappointed by its content, even suspecting someone was falsely using Jiraiya's name.

After all, Jiraiya had been single for so many years, how could he possibly write a normal love story? It turned out that after verification, it really was written by Jiraiya, the contents more thrilling than romance stories.

Knowing it wasn't a proper book, she just snatched it from Uehara Naraku's hand earlier.

"This kind of book is not something you should read at your age."

Her light blue hair partially covered her face, she lowered her head to look at Uehara Naraku, speaking seriously: "No, you should never read this kind of book."

"..."

Uehara Naraku watched as "Make-Out Paradise" in Konan's hand turned into countless scattered sheets of paper, as if seeing countless Gold Coins drift away from him.

Konan reached out and removed Uehara's gas mask, looking at the young, innocent face. She softly asked: "Naraku, where did you get the book?"

This teacher is a bit too strict!

Uehara Naraku took a deep breath and defended himself: "I let a few people go just now, and they gave me this book. I was actually going to give it to you. Maybe Teacher Konan would want your teacher's work, they said it's hard to find..."

"I see."

Konan sighed, ruffling his hair: "If someone gives you this book in the future, just kill him...remember?"

"Yes."

Uehara Naraku agreed with his young face.

To think that the gentle words she spoke were actually about something so bloody.

And what he thought were simple "Make-Out Paradise" series side quests, are actually not that easy to complete now.

The "Make-Out Paradise" series has always been popular, and it's assumed that only when publishers persuade Jiraiya and he agrees for "Make-Out Paradise" to be reprinted on a large scale, will he have a chance to buy it?

"Alright."

With that, Konan was satisfied to let the matter go, and brought up their mission: "Now, Hanzo of the Salamander should already know of our revenge. We should return to the base and hide for a while, to avoid his traps...also, some things cropped up in the organization that I need to deal with."
