Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Random Mission, Beedrill

"Battle, Pikachu, use Thunder Shock to take down this Caterpie!"

I'll shock your mom!

Hearing Ash's idiotic command, Max complained endlessly in his heart.

Damn it, I was about to score, I hate it!

Why? Why is it so unfair?

I want to change Trainers! Delia! I want you to be my Trainer!

Even if it's not Delia, any female creature like Mary or Liz would be fine!

I really don't want to travel with this idiotic guy!

"Pikachu? Use Thunder Shock! What's wrong with you? Caterpie is about to escape!"

Apparently, Ash had no idea what Max was thinking.

At this moment, Ash's eyes were completely fixed on the Caterpie still wriggling in front of him.

Just one gentle Thunder Shock, and I could catch it! This was the first wild Pokémon he had encountered!

But alas, Max's heart was entirely focused on Delia's warm embrace at this moment.

Max selectively ignored Ash's request.

Are you kidding me? I'd rather reminisce about my "special" experience just now than waste time on this.

"Beep beep, random mission activated.

Help Ash escape the Beedrill swarm's attack.

Mission reward: acquire the Skill, Quick Attack."

What!?

What the heck!?

Hearing the sudden electronic sound from the system, Max was stunned.

What the hell? A random mission? Make me help that idiot!?

But the reward Skill seems pretty good, right?

Quick Attack? Is that the super-fast dash Skill?

Holy cow! This is a great Skill! If I had known this move before, how could I have missed the chance to score?

At this moment, Max was once again excited.

Missing that one opportunity is not scary!

Once I learn this Skill, there's nothing else to say. As long as I encounter such an opportunity again, I'll decisively use a Quick Attack, and I refuse to believe I still can't score!

But what was that the system just said?

Help Ash escape the Beedrill attack? What the hell? Wasn't it Caterpie? Why did it suddenly upgrade?

Apparently, Max, engrossed in his own world, hadn't noticed that due to his non-cooperation, Ash had already decided to try and catch the Caterpie himself.

But he never thought that this Poké Ball was thrown just a tiny bit off target.

Of course, if it had just missed, that would have been fine.

The problem was, this Poké Ball, by sheer coincidence, landed on a Weedle.

Weedle is not Caterpie.

This guy is a very warlike existence.

Without a battle, a Poké Ball naturally cannot capture it.

Breaking free from the Poké Ball, the Weedle did not choose to directly attack Ash, but instead raised its head and let out bursts of Bug Buzz.

Then...

"Buzz buzz!"

Earth-shattering Bug Buzz sounds came.

Clearly, the Weedle had used its ultimate move, calling for reinforcements.

At the same time, Max, prompted by the system, arrived by Ash's side.

"Pikachu, what was wrong with you just now? Are you feeling unwell? Or are you hungry?"

Clearly, the naive Ash still didn't know the reason for Pikachu's previous strike.

"Pika~ !"

He let out a weak cry, which served as his response to Ash.

At this moment, all of Max's attention was on the system mission.

What the hell? Beedrill? Where is that thing?

Eager to complete the mission and directly receive the reward, Max had already sharpened his claws, ready to deliver a powerful Thunder Shock attack to the as-yet-unseen Beedrill.

But as the "buzzing" sound continuously approached, Max suddenly had a bad premonition.

Damn it! Why do I feel so eerie?

Beedrill, that thing, is apparently the final evolution of Weedle, right?

If it's a one-on-one, can I win? Probably, should, maybe?

Apparently, Max only paid attention to the mission reward given by the system, but ignored the word "swarm" after Beedrill.

"Oh no! Pikachu, run!"

As the saying goes, the higher you stand, the farther you see.

No matter how bad Ash was, he was still a teenager around ten years old, and his height was much taller than Max's pitiful Pikachu body.

Before Max even discovered the enemy, Ash had already seen the swarm of Beedrill madly attacking him at the end of his vision.

"Pika~ !"

Hearing Ash speak, Max immediately struck a battle pose.

But before he could fully get into the zone, he suddenly realized.

Wait!

What did this idiot just say?

Run away? Shouldn't he be telling me to rush up and fight?

In doubt, Max once again stood on his tiptoes and looked forward.

Finally!

Max also discovered the madly approaching Beedrill swarm.

I XX your OO!

Finally seeing the target, Max's heart was left with only two words: cursing his mother.

What the hell! Dozens of Beedrill, and you want me to protect Ash?

Go to hell!

Max didn't even have the courage to fight one Beedrill, let alone a swarm?

What else is there to say? Let's go!

Ignoring Ash, who was turning around in a panic, Max turned his body with an extremely elegant movement, his four paws flying wildly, desperately fleeing forward.

I don't care about anyone anymore, I'm not serving them!

But alas, how can running be faster than flying?

Max and Ash hadn't run far before they were caught by the angry Beedrill swarm.

"Buzz buzz!"

Without a word, the angry Beedrill swarm used their go-to skill, Twinneedle.

Holy crap! So painful!

Unluckily stung in the butt, Max sped up his escape even more.

"Splatters!"

Fortunately, just as Max and Ash were covered in stings and wounds, the heavens were kind, and a sudden light rain fell.

For Beedrill, who disliked rain, attacking enemies was far less important than avoiding the rain.

"Buzz buzz!"

The swarm gradually dispersed, and Max, now safe, had no strength left to run.

Damn it! I was a homebody in my previous life, when have I ever suffered like this?

"Pikachu! Pikachu! What's wrong with you? Hold on! Pikachu!"

Ash truly deserved to become a future champion; his stamina and resilience were absolutely maxed out.

Max could no longer keep going, while Ash, on the other hand, was acting as if nothing had happened.

Seeing Max collapse in the rain, Ash nervously picked him up and frantically ran towards Viridian City, the closest place.

Go to hell! I don't want to be held by a man! All that sweaty smell, help!

Although he didn't have to travel on his own, this experience was not pleasant for Max.

"Pika~ !"

But alas, his protest was merely an inaudible cry.
