"Lyria?" Mira looked up, dark braids swinging. "What's wrong?"
"Company." Lyria's gaze drifted toward the tree line south of the village, where the ancient trail wound through the primordial forest. "A lot of company."
She reached for Voresh through the awareness she'd come to think of as a thread—not the bond the demons described among themselves, but something quieter. A knowing. He was already moving, his copper-bright presence shifting toward the village gate with purposeful speed.
