Chapter 1 - Something is wrong

Immediately marinelle walked into the summer camp ground, she felt an electric shock jolt throughout her whole body.

She paused for some seconds and turned to face sage.

"Did you feel that?" She whispered.

"Feel what?" Sage asked in a confused look.

Marinelle closed her eyes and tried to gather her thoughts, she was sure of what she felt.

Sage turned to face marinelle holding her by the shoulders she said, "it's okay Marinelle, it's fine to feel nervous. It's understandable that it's your first time".

She reassured Marinelle

Marinelle nodded and heaved a sigh, hand in hand they both walked into the camp ground.

Marinelle was so excited to be there, going deeper into the camp ground felt so great and with Sage by her side, she felt less nervous.

With excitement, she loosed a lot of what she saw and heard.

They were first of all taken to their dorms, which was where they were going to stay throughout the days they had in the summer camp and were made to feel very welcome.

They were also given a tour around the massively built huge camp ground.

The camp ground had so many facilities; museums, libraries, gyms, swimming pools, cafeterias and so much more.

After they were taken round the whole camp ground, they were led back to their dorms as the sun was setting and they needed to rest and be up for next day's activities.

Coincidentally, Marinelle and Sage were assigned to the same room with two other girls making them 4 in the room.

Marinelle immediately made friends with the new girls, also inviting Sage to tag along.

They all sat down together to discuss about each other after settling and arranging their belongings in their lockers.

The first girl Luna started by asking "Marinelle is this your first time here?".

"Yes it is, I was invited by Sage" Marinelle replied to Luna pointing at Sage that was sitting at the upper bunk bed looking down at them.

"Oh that's great, Sage is this your first time here?" Luna said smiling, directing her gaze towards Sage.

"No it's not, I've been attending here since I was a child" Sage replied.

"Oh that's cool, it's also my first time, my friend Vesper invited me too" Luna said gesturing towards the girl sitting on the couch beside her.

Vesper looked up from the book she was reading and gave Marinelle a cold stare before turning her gaze to Sage then back at her book without saying anything.

Something in her gaze felt chilly to Marinelle, she couldn't pinpoint what it was exactly.

Luna looked at Marinelle and Sage awkwardly and gave a dry laugh.

"You'll get used to it, that's how she is".

Marinelle smiled back at Luna, Sage just adjusted on her bed and said, "it's late Marinelle, get some sleep, goodnight".

With that she laid on her bed, used the duvet to cover up herself and turned to face the wall.

Vesper closed her book and looked up, Marinelle couldn't see her face properly as her jet-black hair covered up part of her face.

Vesper stood up from the couch she was sitting on and climbed up to her bed, which was also the upper bunk just like Sage's.

Marinelle and Luna were staying on the down bunks.

"Ohkayy….so we're left alone I guess" Luna started saying and Marinelle gave a low chuckle.

"I guess it's good night then" Marinelle said to Luna.

"Yeah I'm already feeling sleepy. We'll talk better tomorrow" Luna said already yawning.

Marinelle smiled and said "Goodnight Luna".

"Goodnight Marinelle" Luna said to her with a smile.

With that they both went to their separate bed to sleep.

2 hours later

The entire domitary was dead silent and for some reasons Marinelle wasn't asleep yet.

She was wide awake on her bed staring at the ceiling.

Marinelle couldn't sleep, she tossed and turned endlessly waiting to be visited by sleep.

After some time she sat up on her bed, she wanted to go for a drink, her throat felt dry.

She stood up from her bed and went to the fridge that was situated at the other end of the room to get a bottled water.

After drinking she went back to her bed to sit, she looked at Luna's bed.

Luna was facing the wall sound asleep. Marinelle shifted her gaze to Vesper's bed.

Surprisingly it was empty, she looked again and saw that the room door was slightly ajar.

Marinelle stood up to check Sage's bed, she wasn't there too!.

What was going on!?.

She wanted to wake Luna up, but then she decided against it, as she felt it wasn't necessary.

She was confused!. where would Sage have gone to?.

She suddenly felt a very strong urge to go outside the room.

She tried to fight it but the feeling was overwhelming, so without thinking she bolted out of the room closing the room behind her.

She didn't know where she was going but she knew her heart was taking her somewhere.

She started walking down the hallway, there was silence everywhere. It was so dark.

As Marinelle approached the last room at the right wing of the domitary she could hear a low hum coming from the room.

She stopped to listen again, this time it was more louder, she quickened her steps, as she got nearer the humming got louder too.

She finally reached the door, she put her hand on the doorknob and wanted to push open but on second thought she decided against it.

It could be dangerous, so she peeped through the key hole.

What she saw shocked and scared her to wits.

The entire room was pitch dark except for 13 candles In a circle on the floor.

Luna and Vesper with 11 other girls seated crossed legged on the bare ground, one behind each candle.

Back straight, arms folded across their breasts, staring with absolute concentration into the candle

All dressed identically in long Red robes with attached cowl like hoods up over their heads.

The candles were about two feet tall and four inches in diameter.

They were made of black wax and each one of them stood on top of a long narrow sheet of paper that was covered with fine writting.

The wax from the candle dripped down to the papers. There wasn't any movement by any of them except for their continuous low voiced chanting and humming.
