Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Long Before The Ring

Vivian's POV

Liam's statement struck me like a physical blow, worse than the pounding headache that had greeted me this morning.

I stared at him, my pulse racing as disbelief flooded through me.

"No, that can't be right. We never..."

My words came out broken, fragmented, but the gentle chime of the doorbell cut through my protest.

"Room service," he said with that infuriating smirk still playing on his lips before walking toward the entrance, leaving me alone with my spiraling thoughts.

The door clicked shut behind him, and suddenly the silence felt suffocating.

My hand trembled as I lifted it, studying the massive diamond that caught the morning light. The ring felt foreign on my finger, like it belonged to someone else entirely.

"This isn't real," I breathed into the empty room.

But even as I spoke the words, flashes of last night began surfacing in my mind. Fragmented pieces of a puzzle I wasn't sure I wanted to solve.

'Marry me.'

My stomach dropped.
