Time passed in waiting, regardless of how the two people in the monitor bickered like rookies. Su Ming leaned against the stone wall of the cave, closing his eyes to rest.
It had been more than ten hours since Su Ming arrived in this world. During this time, he'd been running around or fighting various enemies. Physical strength wasn't an issue, but in this boring moment, taking a break was welcome.
This was the longest night he had ever endured, with things constantly rushing at him, leaving him unable to relax at all...
As soon as things here were over, he would immediately head to the Main World with The Flash; there was no time for sleep.
The sound of water dripping in the cave was particularly clear in the darkness, as if symbolizing the passage of time.
Finally, Sea Queen and Hero were exhausted from their fight. The two lay beside each other, panting heavily, taking quite some time to recover. Just as Su Ming had said, after realizing they couldn't harm each other, they could only compromise.
Though they didn't verbally concede, the surveillance showed them both approaching the door to listen for any sounds outside.
After realizing no one was guarding them, the two dashed out of the shanty, heading to the seaside.
Of course, with Batwoman's personality, the entire small island was covered with surveillance. She merely swiped a few times on her phone, capturing all their actions, even with dedicated microphones to pick up their conversations.
"Great, it's an island. Fishbrain, what are you waiting for?" Hero jumped up in excitement, clapping his hands and spinning in circles in place, like a 200-pound child: "Hurry home and notify my mom to come rescue me; a certain Evil God wants us to fight each other."
However, on the golden sandy beach, Sea Queen didn't share his joy. She clung to a big tree, trembling, with the strange fruits on it nearly shaken loose by her.
Let alone seeing the ocean, even the sound of waves crashing on the shore was thunderous in her ears. She just wanted to stay far away and never hear the word "sea" again.
"What's wrong with you? Hurry and dive into the sea!" Hero urged her, his eyes red, speaking words that held different meanings in Su Ming's world.
"No... I can't, don't, let me go!"
Sea Queen tried to muster the courage, but the blue sea turned into a thick slurry of excrement and minced flesh in her eyes. Some fully skeletonized fish floated on it. The effect of the Fear Venom had altered her perception, making it impossible for her to look at it directly.
Covering her eyes, she dashed back into the hut and slammed the door shut.
Hero showed a surprised expression watching her retreating figure, puzzled at how Sea Queen could be afraid of seawater. If it weren't for this cursed bracelet, he would have flown away long ago; relying on a dead fish was unnecessary.
He looked at the sea again. He could swim, but now he only had the stamina of an ordinary person. In this vast ocean with no sense of direction, how could he possibly swim away? He wasn't ready to die.
Unable to do anything, he glanced around while returning to the hut, exchanging glances with Sea Queen.
The person dressed like an owl had blocked all their paths. No one knew where they were, just as the Owl-like person said, making them watch helplessly as the world faced Destruction, eventually forced to surrender to Barbatos.
He didn't know who Barbatos was, but from what the weirdo hinted, it was clear they stood opposite all living things.
"What's wrong with you?" Hero asked Sea Queen, unable to understand how an aquatic amphibian could be afraid of the ocean.
"They injected me with some liquid. I can't even look at the sea now." Sea Queen had calmed down considerably, thinking the safest place on the island was this small dark room.
"Is the effect of this liquid permanent?" Hero anxiously rubbed his hands together, unable to break free from the Magic Props; his only hope was relying on Sea Queen to swim away.
"I don't know, but I'm sure they'll inject me regularly. In such circumstances, I stand no chance of resisting." Sea Queen leaned against the wall in despair, her head hanging limply.
"Damn it! Their plan is too meticulous. Are we just going to watch ourselves become slaves to the Evil God?"
Hero fell to the ground in despair. Thinking about another version of himself attempting to assassinate the Queen on Paradise Island made him restless. Although his mother was a mighty warrior, the other side possessed Magic Props that countered Divine Power. There were two sets now; who knew if there wouldn't be more?
As the only two who knew the truth, they were trapped here, watching helplessly.
While they were at their wit's end, Owl appeared again, pushing open the door, carrying a large tree leaf filled with fruits of various colors.
He shook his hand, dropping the fruit all over the ground, and sneered, "Eat, you two useless ones. Our Owl Court won't let you die just yet."
With that, he shut the door, and the bright sunlight once again disappeared from their view.
"Is this our prison meal? Just fruit?" Hero looked at the food on the ground; lacking alcohol and meat felt like torture.
Sea Queen picked up a bunch of grape-like fruits, putting them into her mouth to eat. Orange juice trickled down her chin as she mumbled, "Even if you want to escape, you need to maintain stamina; without it, you won't have the strength when an opportunity arises."
Hero thought for a moment after hearing her and picked up a fruit resembling a melon, rolling it around in his arms, unable to find a spot to bite: "Could it be poisonous?"
"If they truly wanted to kill or torture us, fists would suffice; poisoning would be redundant." Sea Queen had no doubts, always straightforward. Reversing roles, if she held such an advantage, she wouldn't resort to poisoning.
Her words made so much sense that De'an was left speechless.
Without suitable tools, they had to use elbows to smash open the melon, revealing white pulp inside. Despite the unsightly appearance, they needed to eat, or they'd lack energy if a chance to escape appeared.
The plants and animals on Dinosaur Island maintained a pre-Jurassic Period ecosystem. Despite being prisoners, once overcoming their psychological barriers, they couldn't let go of the fruit.
One thought occupied their minds.
It was delicious.
If Su Ming found out about this, he'd surely be delighted, thinking it was great that they enjoyed it, proving his seasoning wasn't in vain...
Watching the two devour the fruit clean and lie on the ground burping, Su Ming and Briss exchanged a glance, knowing the second step of the plan succeeded.
After administering the Fear Venom to Sea Queen, Barry didn't discard the syringe; the special alloy needle was quite pricey, and even if stolen, waste wasn't an option. Su Ming washed the syringe, filled it with Charming Venom from Poison Ivy, and injected each fruit, knowing some unscrupulous vendors did the same.
It was a pity they were on Dinosaur Island, or he would have made these DC World folks witness watered chicken and pork. Even in this manner, Barry was dumbstruck by the sight, never imagining such a trick.
Inside the small hut, as the Charming Venom took effect, the situation gradually turned ambiguous.
