War flames are still spreading, and the surrounding sounds are the clash of weapons and screams of agony near and far.
At present, the heroes from the Otherworld who came for support have already suffered casualties, even though these losses are far less compared to the enemy, but this is not a good sign.
Barbatos can summon his dark believers from the dark void infinitely, or create nightmare creatures out of thin air. His divine power spreads across the entire Multiverse, and this energy seems endless.
At this moment, several Lantern Heroes flew into the battle, various lights flashed across the sky, stabilizing the scene slightly, but Su Ming merely glanced at it indifferently. These forces stabilized the battlefield, but they couldn't stop the world from falling.
The key still lies with Barbatos.
It has been mentioned before, the Cosmic Tuning Fork is like a large tree, with a thick trunk, approximately ten meters in diameter. As it goes up, it becomes thinner, till the end where it resembles a lightning rod.
Barbatos now entwines himself around the upper part, raising his hands to coordinate dark energy. His enormous form is very clear from Su Ming's current position.
After some calculations, Su Ming believes there is at least a 50% chance of success in launching a surprise attack from here. Whether it hits Barbatos or the tuning fork depends on luck.
He raised his head, searching for something in the sky, specifically, looking for a person with a red cape.
"Superman, over here!"
There are too many people in the sky, with both enemies and allies flying back and forth, engaging in battles, and colorful energy beams constantly slicing through the sky.
Just like bees fighting wasps, the sky is chaotic, with people or monsters occasionally plummeting to the ground, creating large craters.
But Su Ming's eyesight is very good. He happened to see a Superman flying by not far away, and with Superman's hearing and vision, as long as he is willing to help, he will surely notice him.
Sure enough, that red light veered in mid-air and landed directly beside Su Ming.
"Rasviche, Master Davari."
This Superman warmly shook hands with Su Ming, while helping him clear the encroaching enemy ground forces.
But Su Ming's expression turned somewhat quirky.
This Superman spoke with standard suburban Ukrainian Russian, almost as if his voice carried the taste of caviar and borscht. Once he landed, Su Ming could see that there wasn't an 'S' on his chest but a symbol of worker-peasant unity.
This is the Red Son, why has he come too?
The timeline of Earth-30 is much faster compared to the Main World, and after DC rebooted N52, Su Ming truly doesn't know the situation over there.
Currently, this Superman still seems young, maybe the story of the Red Son is ongoing, or perhaps that world has started to cycle again, undergoing its own reboot.
But that is his destiny, his story, and Su Ming does not intend to interfere.
"Hello, Comrade Clark."
Su Ming greeted him like a comrade, then explained his plan in Russian. As a competent mercenary, Deathstroke mastered almost all the languages in the world.
After all, the more backward the place, the more rampant warlords are, and the more business for mercenaries.
Whether it's big beard or black uncle, whether it's tribal chieftain or some self-proclaimed general or governor, mercenaries mastering some foreign languages always facilitates business.
And mastering Russian, it means easier access to mass cheap arms and ammunition.
Su Ming wanted to launch a surprise attack, originally intending to have Superman attract Barbatos's attention. However, at that moment, a group of people ran by, instead attracting Su Ming's attention.
"Counterattackers assemble!"
The leader was a man dressed like a medieval crusader, wearing blue chain armor and a white coat, holding a red semi-transparent energy shield, charging towards the thick of enemy lines, calling out a battle cry as he ran past Su Ming.
They were a group of heroes unlike the DC's usual style, moving towards the tuning fork, making quite a racket to clear a path.
They are the Counterattack Alliance from Earth-8, an earth in DC that parodies and pays tribute to the neighboring world. Yes, instead of the Justice League, there's the Counterattack Alliance, essentially DC's version of the Avengers.
The leader who just ran past was the American Warrior, DC's version of Captain America, and even Captain America's qualities are magnified in him. He is brave and fearless, pure in character, with unmatched leadership and tactical ability.
If the perfect knight meets all the descriptions of warriors in the Bible, then he is a saint walking out of the American Constitution, perfectly aligned with the values of Americans.
Not just him, those behind him are all Marvel heroes of sorts.
There is 'Machine Head', a super genius wearing high-tech armor he designed himself powered by a Round Boat Reactor.
There is the 'Blue Giant Infant', transformed into a giant monster by beta-ray radiation.
There's the super female agent 'Red Night Demon', trained by the Fur Bear; the alien black Thunder God 'Wang Jina'; the 'Insect Man' who can change size at will; the powerful mutant young lady 'Silver-White Witch'; the 'Ladybug Hero' who became super after being bitten by a mutant ladybug.
Also, Earth-8 hosts two mutant organizations named 'G-Men' and 'Brother Gang', and on the Himalayas lies Kama Taiji with a super mage fond of taking apprentices known as the 'Special Effects Master'.
In short, whatever Marvel has in terms of heroes and villains, Earth-8 has a parody version of them, and their past stories greatly contrast with the usual DC vibe — they're quite humorous...
Of course, Marvel also has parodies and references to DC heroes, like the Sentinel is essentially a Superman copy, Thanos is akin to Darkseid, Hawkeye drew inspiration from Green Arrow, Quicksilver from The Flash, Ant-Man from Atom Hero, Hulk from Grandy, Moonlight Knight from Batman...
Just that unlike DC, Marvel hasn't crafted a whole world around them.
Positions of the fans from both sides are distinct, always trying to claim one is superior, yet writers from both companies switch over frequently, and casually interact, like having tea or meals together.
They talk about creative ideas, sharing stories, no accusation of plagiarism, just creators exchanging views together.
There was once when the comic market was bleak, Marvel Company was in bad financial shape, and DC brought together a crossover issue — 'Justice League vs. Avengers'.
Everyone is a comic company, sharing the same business space, the relationship between them involves both competition and collaboration to maintain the market.
Whenever the market dwindles, they would unite to produce crossover comics, like featuring the ace characters from both sides 'Batman and Spider Hero', 'Superman vs. The Amazing Spider Hero', and the combination of regular humans who rely on faith 'Batman and Captain America'.
Such works are numerous, including 'Wonder Woman and Conan the Barbarian', 'Batman vs. the Invincible Hulk', 'X-Men vs. Teen Titans', 'Batman and Night Demon Hero', 'Batman and Punisher'...
Hence DC crafted a parody Earth-8 and the Counterattack Alliance, and Marvel didn't mind that.
Su Ming doesn't mind it either, these familiar-looking heroes are still heroes after all, their presence on the battlefield only brings benefits, not harm.
Currently, their target coincides with Su Ming's plan. Presumably, the American Warrior determined through tactical analysis the importance of Barbatos as a target. Although they lack means to cause effective harm to Dark Creation, they still charged.
Like Captain America, even when knowing something is unattainable, heroes need to go forward.
Faced with enemies blocking their path, they may not be able to inflict effective damage on Dark Creation, but the Blue Giant Infant and Wang Jina can throw them off Earth.
Thus, Barbatos's gaze inevitably falls upon them, because their team is unique in the DC Multiverse.
Even having destroyed countless universes, Barbatos has never seen them.
Nestled atop the tuning fork, Barbatos felt perplexed, his gaze shifted to the Counterattack Alliance. Su Ming noticed him slightly tilt his head, seemingly pondering something.
This granted Su Ming a considerable opportunity.
"Comrade Clark, please take me into the sky and then throw me towards Barbatos."
He held onto the Red Son's arm, the muscles beneath the blue tight-fitting suit harder than steel, maybe due to climate and diet reasons, he's even taller and stronger than Supermen from other worlds.
"Are you sure? Comrade, you'll face great risk and possibly death, I think I should handle this better."
Superman hesitated, the man before him doesn't exist in his world, but for now only seems like an excellent warrior, not beyond mortal.
"Don't worry, Comrade Steel, I have super self-healing abilities, my whole body's bones will never fracture, I am the sharpest weapon."
