Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Acupoints × Gate of Cognition

There are basically two ways to awaken Nenryoku.

One, through meditation, sensing the presence of Sense, and opening it by oneself; two, using forceful methods to open the Acupoints and directly experience Sense.

Since Roy had Silva, a top-notch Nenryoku expert at home, it saved him the effort of meditating.

He immediately noticed something unusual, discovering a milky white energy continuously surged from within his body, quickly enveloping him entirely.

This scene was novel yet familiar, akin to when Wing forcibly awakened Gon and Killua's Nenryoku at the Heavens Arena. Roy hurriedly closed his eyes, gathering the escaping Sense back into his body in an easily imaginable pose.

Long before Silva decided to awaken his Nen, Wutong had prepared early, sharing all his knowledge about Nenryoku with Roy without reservation, and patiently explaining the precautions before and after opening the Acupoints.

But "knowing" doesn't equate to "mastering." Barely after opening the Acupoints, Roy managed to slowly gather the Sense dissipating on the surface of his body back inside... Such speed made Silva, observing from the side, take another glance.

Though, it was just a glance...

"Hiss... Hoo..."

In just a few short seconds between inhales and exhales, the Sense scattered on Roy's body surface was completely gathered back by him...

The young man opened his eyes again, his pupils sparking with a "whoosh," as if igniting two "Nen Fires," truly completing the transformation from an ordinary person into a Nen user.

This feeling was very peculiar, like a leap in the level of his whole life. Looking back at himself from three seconds ago, he felt an added higher level of confidence and composure.

"This is Nen, a fusion of multiple vector elements like 'physical strength,' 'will,' 'emotions,' and 'soul.'

Roy silently felt the changes within, his thoughts churning while also receiving a prompt from the panel.

[Detected that the host has opened the Acupoints...]

[Nenryoku: "Gate of Cognition," has awakened...]

[The host can delve into his brain cortex through Deep Sleep, push open his "Gate of Cognition," draw nourishment from the world of "Cognition," and manifest it back into reality...]

So—

'I'm not "Enhancement," but "Conjuration?"'

Roy was somewhat surprised...

Originally, he thought with his immense Desire Power to enhance his Constitution, he would awaken a "Enhancement" Nenryoku most compatible with himself, but he never expected this result.

Reflecting on it now, he completely overlooked a problem—he was a transmigrator reborn into this world!

"Transmigration" itself was his deepest secret, and also his most significant cheat!

This is interesting... Is fate reminding him "rather than seeking outward, seek within?"

Roy carefully contemplated the "Gate of Cognition," immediately feeling an urge to lay down and explore...

Unfortunately, having just awakened Nenryoku, he's still excited and uncertain if he can sleep; plus, with Silva right next to him, he couldn't just lazily lie down in a place meant for sweat and effort, otherwise, that cracked wall behind him would tell his miserable story.

A father not burying his child, pulling out the Seven Wolves...

Besides killing and torturing, Roy had experienced Silva's prowess as well...

Thus, he immediately contained his excitement and respectfully bid Silva a good night: "Father, I'm heading back."

Silva responded with a noncommittal murmur, not questioning Roy's System or intended Nenryoku development, turning away to continue stretching his legs as if he had done something insignificant.

Perhaps, from a father's perspective, he already knew exactly what kind of person his child was from the start.

Why awaken Nen early for "Roy"? Because Silva had already seen through this child, knowing his potential was limited...

In the future, it's uncertain if he'll be able to join him in missions, let alone ensure his own protection...

So, what's the difference between knowing and not knowing?

At night, a midsummer wind swayed the wall lamp, casting a charming shadow...

As the door of the practice room opened and closed again, it separated the father and son into two worlds...

On one side, Silva in his black martial arts suit, muscles bulging, face cold; on the other side, Roy walked briskly, excitement no longer containable at the corners of his mouth, hastening towards his bedroom.

Passing by a dimly lit room, he gave a simple nod.

The room housed an old man lying on a rocking chair, sleeping soundly to the sound of anime, turning over and muttering something in his sleep, changing positions for a deeper sleep...

Indeed, the night was picturesque, a perfect time to sleep, even though it wasn't Roy's usual time, he had to sleep.

Upon returning to the bedroom, Roy locked the door behind him.

Then, he plopped onto the bed, took out his phone, and set it to "White Noise Sleep Aid" mode, forcing himself to slowly close his eyes.

"Cicadas chirped outside... The night wind rustled the leaves..."

About ten minutes later, he finally caught a hint of sleepiness, stepping into his dream alone...

Drowsily, he felt like he was floating, and in front of him was a colorful passage...

From the end of the passage came the faint sound of waves crashing against rocks, drawing Roy in.

One step, two steps, curiosity mixed with a bit of leisure, soon Roy exited the passage to see a vast ocean.

This ocean extended beyond sight, with blue as its base color. Astonishingly, standing on the sea's surface were countless wooden doors, some weathered, some new, some dim, some shiny, as if they existed since time immemorial, but all locked.

Except—

On Roy's nearest right-hand side, a wooden door hung with a "Grim Reaper" pendant was slightly ajar, with a faint light visible inside.

Roy had an insight... It was waiting for him...

Without another thought, he pushed and strode inside...

"Hiss—"

"So cold—"

In stark contrast to the hot Republic of Padokea, snowflakes were falling from the sky in this world of cognition...

Roy opened his eyes again, finding himself lying in a dense forest covered in deep snow.

A hoe lay to his left, and a basket full of coal to his right...

So—

In his 'cognitive world,' he had become a coal miner?

Roy curiously examined himself; a heavy Japanese cloak wrapped him, thick socks on his feet, wearing wooden clogs, deep red hair draping over his eyes... remarkably similar to a certain anime character familiar from his previous life, yet slightly different...

Thankfully, he wasn't left in suspense long as the panel popped up, providing an answer...

[Character Generation...]

[Kamado Eiichiro... the elder brother of Kamado Tanjiro...]

This is when Roy realized... 'So, this is the world of Demon Slayer!'
