Ariana began to look through her parents drawers in search of the documents that were important to complete her curriculum vitae.
Her parents had six drawers beside her their bed, three on each side and a cupboard where documents were kept. She had gone through all six drawers and was approaching the cupboard to search as she hadn't seen any documents that belonged to her.
She opened the cupboard and also began her search there. Most of what she found was either about her parents or documents relating to the Sterling Group. But something caught her eye.
She took up the paper that seemed like the deed of ownership of the Sterling Group. Her brows furrowed as she couldn't understand why there was a copy of this in her parents room because she also had one due to the fact her parents had earlier transferred the ownership of the company to her until their sudden change of heart a day before.
She began reading the contents of the documents in her hand to find out that this deed of ownership had her sister as the actual owner of the Sterling Group. The agreement was signed five years ago.
Her hands trembled.
Ariana began to experience a knot like feeling in her chest. Something pulling at her heart without any form of gentleness. She scurried off the ground she had sat on and headed straight to her room to get the deed of ownership she had which was signed only a year ago.
Ariana was confused, her head banging and her heart was left feeling like they were little people drilling a hole in it. She looked at every detail on both documents, comparing them and trying to comprehend what she was seeing.
She had worked in the company for years, immediately after she was done with her master's degree. She started out small but her parents promised to give her the company as she was the child that was suited for it out of the two girl's the Sterling's had.
At the time she started, her father was still the active president of the company. He always told her "work hard Ariana, so Dad can hand you the company in a few years". Ariana then would giggle as it was what she had been preparing for all her life and she did exactly that; worked her butt off to make the man proud.
For the next few years it did seem like the company was now hers because her parents signed documents, transferring the deed of ownership to her a year ago. Confirming her as the new owner. But she was yet to be called that in the company.
Her father would say, "You still have a few things to learn. After that, I'd announce you in the company as the new president".
Everyone in the company knew she worked the hardest and was definitely going to be given the company because the was the eldest daughter of her parents and also the one who always showed up at the company. Until now..
Ariana still stared at both papers in disbelief. They had handed the company to Ava five years ago? Yet she was working her youth away in the company for those years?.
It seemed unbelievable. The more she looked at her own signature and her sister's and parent's signature the more she felt she was in a nightmare she so needed to wake up from.
How come her sister signed this five years ago? What exactly was going on?. She stared at the paper long enough and then saw it was two different lawyers that handled these documents.
She looked through the deed that had her own name on it to find the name of the law firm or lawyer that handled hers. She saw the name of the law firm and quickly searched for it online to see if it was real. After a while, her screen popped up with information.
The law firm seemed legit. She searched if they had their location posted on the page but found none.
Suspicious....she thought.
As she scrolled more, she saw a phone number and decided to save it on her phone. She did the same for the deed of ownership that had her sister's name and signature as the owner and she saw the location of the law firm.
She didn't find a location for hers but her sister's law firm did have a location and even number.
She returned to her parents room and placed the documents back in there. As she was about to leave the room once again, she saw a paper underneath the ones that concerned the Sterling Group.
Out of curiosity, she picked it up to see it was her birth certificate. She looked through it and noticed something out of place. The information there had her blood type written as "O+, O positive" but Ariana knew she wasn't O positive because she was in the hospital few months ago for a checkup and had randomly asked the doctor what her genotype and blood type was and the old doctor who was probably in his sixties told her she had a rare blood type, as she was under the category of blood type AB.
But what she saw on this paper was contradicting with that fact. She swallowed and quickly took the papers that concerned her curriculum vitae and quickly left.
Deep down she knew something was wrong and she was hell-bent on finding out what it was.
