Chapter 3 - First View of Morvanes Territory and Understanding how the Skill Shop works

Alex now stood outside of the castle at the training grounds and observed the Soldiers and Knights at their training.

A good while later, the Knight Captain Milrow noticed Alex and rushed over.

Greetings, my lord. I hope you like what you see over there.

Alex was silent for a moment. not because he didn't know what to say but because his talent for comprehension kicked in while observing the knights

Ah yes, of course, all seems to be good. How are you, Milrow? I hope I am not interrupting anything important.

No, no, my lord, you are welcome to stay and watch if you want.

Alex thought about it but decided against it. Milrow, I will be going into town for a few hours, checking how things are.

My Lord, should I arrange an escort for you?

No need; I will be going in disguise. No need to draw attention to myself.

After the quick but pleasant talk with Knight Captain Milrow, Alex left towards the castle walls but then turned around and activated All Seeing Eyes.

While walking into town, Alex thought, So that's how the comprehension talent works, huh? Alright, I'm hyped to get some training in later. After walking through the town watching and admiring this new world he found himself in, he walked into a tavern.

The woman behind the bar looked at the new visitor before her. "Welcome, traveler. Need a room or some food and a drink to go with it?"

No thanks, but I would like to know more about this place. Can you tell me about the town and its people?

She scrutinizingly looked him up and down as if he were an alien. "Hmm, alright, but it will cost you."

Alex put a silver coin on the countertop and waited for the woman to accept.

Dear customer, I will gladly tell you about anything you want she clasped her hands together.

The woman switched up so fast. If Alex had blinked, he would have thought she was always so forthcoming.

So the town's name is Irontrail, and the people who live here are mostly casual citizens. Of course, there are some adventurers and merchants as well, but they are by far the minority.

Alex listened to what she had to say and then asked about if the people are happy with the lord and how he handles things.

She then told him that the people are all in all okay with how it's going. She said the Lord is no tyrant and treats the people fairly, but advancement had come to a standstill ever since the last Baron of Morvane died; there have been no new mines built, no new Houses have been built and everything seems monotone.

After listening to some more of what she had to say, Alex thanked her and walked out of the tavern.

What do I want to do in this place? In this world, what will be my purpose? Alex thought

Since then a few hours have gone by. He was sitting in the study and looked at every income and expense that comes in and out of his family. He almost died of exhaustion because he couldn't understand what he was reading but after a while he understood everything thanks to his talent, of course. He uncovered some stuff he didn't like, for example, that his family was in debt to the baron next to his territory. 225 gold coins, 67 silver, and 12 copper coins, and the mines need heavy repair work, which also will cost money and time.

After reading through it all, he needed some fresh air. He walked to the training grounds, picked a sword, and started swinging. He tried a few moves he saw from the knights After training for a few minutes. After a while the system chimed in.

Host, you have learned new skills.

[Skills: SSS-All Seeing Eyes, Basic Swordmastery, Basic Footworkmastery]

By now he was huffing and puffing because it was the first time this body of his had any real training. He sat down, face drenched in sweat, and looked at the system interface. "Hmm, alright, let's see what this shop can do." The system opens the shop.

Understood, Host.

Hmm, so that's how it is. I won't even look at the overpowered ones because I will be mad as hell I can't use them yet.

After recovery Alex stood up and went inside the castle; he then explored most of the castle. There was the kitchen, servant rooms, a lounging area, a meeting room, and last but not least, the throne room. After he was finished exploring, he went and grabbed something to eat and headed to his room.

"Well, I have to say that was a really strange first day," Alex thought as he was heading to bed.
