Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The Architect’s Discontent

A whole year.

That's how long it's taken to drag this stubborn patch of rock and mud into something resembling a castle. Twelve golems, countless spells, endless sleepless nights — and yet it still looks like a giant pile of bricks pretending to be majestic.

I tilt my head back, glaring up at the half-finished towers. "I hate this castle."

My voice echoes across the valley. Even the golems pause for a second, as if they agree.

Sure, it's impressive for the tenth century — massive walls, vaulted halls, and a foundation so strong it could survive a small war — but to me, it feels primitive. No wards. No enchantments. No finesse. Just bare stone and crude scaffolding.

And yet, as much as I complain, the System doesn't seem to share my disgust.

4,000 points. That's a lot of compensation for my suffering.

I scroll through the shop while leaning against one of the unfinished pillars, half-heartedly admiring the results of my own insanity. The menu shimmers before my eyes, a transparent overlay of power and temptation.

I spend the points instantly.

As the list flashes by, the raw influx of knowledge hits me like lightning. My mind expands, stretching beyond what it should be able to contain. Every dark spell, every curse, every flick of a wand — all of it becomes as natural as breathing.

I raise my hand and snap my fingers. A small sphere of green light flickers to life, thrumming with that telltale hum of death. Avada Kedavra. I let it fade before it does something I'll regret.

"Okay," I whisper, smirking. "Now we're getting somewhere."

But the real gem comes after.

Buried deep in the system's advanced skills page, I find something… divine.

Skill Discovered: God's Envy Your Talent. The greatest magical talent in history. Infinite growth potential. Magic itself bends to your will.

I almost laugh aloud. "Well… that's broken."

As soon as I confirm the purchase, something inside me changes.

Magic doesn't just respond anymore — it obeys.I lift my wand, and the air thickens with raw, vibrant power. My aura pulses, bending the mana around me into a swirling cyclone of color and heat. Even the ground trembles slightly.

The others feel it too. From the courtyard below, Godric looks up from his training, sweat dripping down his brow. "What in Merlin's name—"

Rowena steps out of the half-built great hall, her eyes wide and glowing faintly blue. "Seraphina?"

I lower my wand slowly, forcing my magic back under control. "Just… testing something."

Testing. That's what I tell them. But inside, I know the truth. I'm becoming something else entirely. Something beyond mortal magic.

The System hums approvingly in the back of my mind.

I exhale, steadying myself.

One year. One ruined childhood. One castle I hate.

But now, I finally have the tools to make it perfect — to make it legendary.

I look at the bare walls again, smirking as new ideas form in my mind. "Alright, Hogwarts. Let's give you some real magic."
