Chapter 34 - Situation in the City

After that, I took them to the main hall and showed them their dormitory. It was quite luxurious for a dorm, featuring a double bed, a balcony with a view of the forest and night sky, and a separate kitchen and bathroom. It even had a jacuzzi, a gaming room, and a big TV. There were also devices that allowed them to contact the outside world if they wanted. Seeing those devices lit up Lu Xiaoran's eyes, perhaps he wanted to reach out to his mother. I gave both of them their separate rooms and slipped away to give them some privacy. I crawled out of the Anonymous hall and climbed my usual spot on a tree. Even though I now had a hall to sleep in, I still enjoyed sleeping under the clear night sky. As I thought about tomorrow, I closed my eyes.

**Pov: Lu Xiaoran**

The master exited after showing us our room. I have to say, these rooms are luxurious. They have everything I could ever imagine, but the feature that caught my attention the most was the communication device. The master explained that this device could connect to the outside world, despite the Boundary walls surrounding the forest. I know this is a restricted area, and normally no information can leave here.

Still, I held onto a little hope that maybe this device could help me contact my mother. Everything the master has done so far has been beyond our understanding, but it always works, so I hoped this would too.

With that thought in mind, I sat in front of the communication device. It looked like a high-tech laptop with multiple screens. Despite its advanced appearance, it was easy to use. The built-in AI asked me what I wanted. After I said I wanted to make a call, it prompted me to choose between a regular call or a video call. I was surprised but soon selected the video call option. Then it asked for an IP address, phone number, or any ID that would help it connect to the desired person or device.

I filled out the necessary details for the AI, and soon, it began a video call to my mother's personal phone. I didn't want anyone besides her to know I was still alive. The call started, but there was no response on the other end. I made another call, but still no answer. Concerned about my mother's situation, I made at least ten calls in a row. On the eleventh call, I finally got a response.

The screen came to life, revealing the face of a woman I knew well, but it wasn't my mother. It was my mother's maid. Her expression showed sorrow, and there were hints of tears on her face. She looked to be in her late twenties, but she appeared to have aged significantly in just a few days.

When she saw me, she looked confused, as if she didn't recognize me. I understood, as my face had become more handsome after my first Nirvana. So I said, "Aunt, you still don't recognize me? I'm Lu Xiaoran." I addressed her as aunt because she took care of me when I was a child.

Her expression shifted to surprise, and she began to cry. "Lu Xiaoran, you're still alive! You have no idea how much your mother and I cried when we heard about your death."

I replied, "Aunt, I'm still alive and in better condition than before. I'll tell you my story, but first, where is my mother? Can you call her now? I want to tell her I'm alive and well."

She cried again and said, "Child, your mother is not here."

Her response filled me with worry. I had many dark thoughts and prayed that my mother was okay. I asked with concern, "Aunt, where is my mother? What happened to her?"

She responded, "Lu Xiaoran, after Lu Zhao informed us that you had died — and this might be Lin Chen's doing — your mother fell into grief and anger towards him. In her distress, she tried to attack Lin Chen. But he had anticipated that and called the law enforcement team. When they saw your mother attack Lin Chen in broad daylight, they arrested her and took her to city jail. She faces charges such as attempted murder, kidnapping, and more. Lu Xiaoran, she is clearly framed by Lin Chen. However, the law enforcement ignores us and sides with him, as if he has connections with powerful people in the city. Even your father, the head of the Lu family, has abandoned us."

She started crying again, but I interrupted. "Don't worry, aunt. Just wait a little while. I will come and teach anyone who dares to harm my family a good lesson. For now, tell me when the law enforcement will present my mother in court."

She replied, "Lu Xiaoran, they will present your mother in court in three months."

I said, "Okay, aunt. Just wait. Before my mother's hearing, those who conspired against her will be begging for her forgiveness." With that, I ended the call and returned to silence. I didn't notice him earlier, but when I turned my head back, I saw Roman standing behind me. He had also heard my conversation. I faced him and asked, "Did you hear what she said?" He nodded but didn't say anything. I could tell he was very angry. I added, "We don't have much time before three months. We need to get stronger and show our enemies what they're up against." I went quiet then, and he left for his own room while I went to sleep.
