Pov: Vik
Once we left the warehouse, we spotted Lu Xiaoran surrounded by many people, mainly women and children. They were thanking him for saving their family members. He looked like a hero who had just defeated a villain, and people were cheering for him. However, I knew his happiness was overshadowed by a dark fate that would lead him to face Lin Chen. His destiny was to die at Lin Chen's hands, but I believed that fate could change if we worked hard enough. I saw a perfect example in front of me: Lu Xiaoran had once been an arrogant young master who cared only for his family name. Now, he was a man who had helped the villagers. Although his motives were questionable, he helped with genuine intent. Now, a man marked as a cannon fodder villain was receiving praise meant for heroes. I promised myself that I would make him strong enough to protect the hope in his life. That was my vow as his teacher.
After reflecting on this, I walked toward the crowd and reached Lu Xiaoran. When he saw me, he excused himself and came over. I patted him on the shoulder and said, "You did well, my student. I'm proud of you."
After saying this, I signaled for him to follow me. I felt a bit awkward expressing my feelings, so we headed to our room. There, I shared the information I had received from Lu Zhang about a possible confrontation with Lin Chen. Upon hearing Lin Chen's name, I noticed a fierce determination in Lu Xiaoran's eyes. I appreciated his competitive spirit, but defeating Lin Chen shouldn't be his main objective. I explained this to him.
Vik: "Lu Xiaoran, I know you have a grudge against Lin Chen, but don't make his defeat your goal. People like him are quite petty, and I don't want you to focus on them. You might not understand now, but for the rest of the day, I will give both of you a lesson."
They both nodded, and Roman raised his hand. "Master, what kind of lesson will you teach us? Is it a technique or training?"
Vik: "No, today we will have a philosophical lesson. This will help you discover your own goals because that's something you need to decide for yourselves. So let's go out. We should explore the city while we talk. You haven't shown me around yet, and I enjoy visiting new places. Let's tour the city together."
With that, I slowly walked out of the room. They followed me, and together we exited the society compound. At the gate, we ran into Grandpa Zhou, who asked where we were headed. I told him we were going to explore the city. He nodded and suggested we take his truck, but I politely declined, saying we would use public transport. I knew that if I drove his truck, I would likely cause chaos. After saying our goodbyes, we walked out of the society gate. The warm sunlight greeted us, and the clear sky had just a few clouds. This city felt modern yet less polluted than cities in my previous life. I suspected it was due to their use of spiritual energy instead of fossil fuels.
We walked down a road that would take us to the busy streets. As we moved, I thought about where we should visit first and asked Lu Xiaoran for his suggestion.
Vik: "Lu Xiaoran, where should we go first? I don't know much about this city. You choose for me, but please pick a place with a good view."
He nodded and replied, "Master, we will visit the central tower. From there, you can see the entire city." He pointed to a tower in the distance, located in the city center and surrounded by skyscrapers, standing taller than any other building. Without wasting time, we headed toward the tower.
After walking for a bit, we reached a bus station. I liked that this city, despite being high-tech, still had a bus station. After a minute, a sleek hovering bus arrived in front of us. Once Lu Xiaoran and Roman confirmed it was the right bus, we boarded. I realized I didn't have any city currency, but I relaxed when Roman bought three tickets. I had forgotten I was with someone resourceful.
After a 15-minute bus ride, we arrived at our destination. Getting off, I found the massive tower right in front of us. We slowly walked toward it. At the entrance, I saw we could go up to enjoy the view, but entry required a fee; other facilities were free. The spot felt like a tourist attraction, with a supportive environment around it. After paying the fee, we entered the tower and got into a large lift. Other passengers mostly seemed like families excited for the view.
Soon, we reached the top of the tower. Exiting the lift, we entered a circular corridor with glass walls at the end. I eagerly approached the glass, stopped by a railing. Still, I managed to see most of the stunning view. The city before me was beautiful, filled with high-rise buildings featuring high-tech designs, alongside charming houses. In the distance, I could see Azure Mountain, adding a touch of nature to the modern skyline. I felt delighted by the experience. Although I could easily fly to see the city from above, this view felt fresh and exciting.
My disciples stood beside me, also captivated by the view. I thought it was important to take small breaks during training. As we enjoyed the sight, a sudden announcement interrupted us.
"Dear visitors, please exit the tower. We are closing for non-VIP guests due to a situation. Kindly exit through the lifts. Please do not panic; there is no emergency. We are just closing for internal reasons."
The announcer's voice echoed through the speakers. Some people panicked, but staff quickly calmed them and directed them toward the exit. As we moved with the crowd, a group of thugs dressed in black suits stormed in through the entrance lift. They hurriedly pushed people to exit, showing little regard for their well-being. Some staff members tried to reason with them, but a single glare silenced them. These men were intimidating.
As we were about to exit, one thug attempted to hit a man with a stick because he wasn't moving fast enough. The man was handicapped, struggling with a leg issue, and he had come with his daughter, who was holding his hand. Before the stick could reach him, Lu Xiaoran intercepted it.
He grabbed the stick and pushed the thug away, sending him crashing to the floor. This action drew everyone's attention. The other visitors and the thugs now looked at Lu Xiaoran. He had attracted unwanted attention, but I didn't mind; he had done the right thing. The thugs began shouting at him for attacking their man, but people around us began arguing back, standing up for Lu Xiaoran without fear. Even the handicapped man shouted in support of him. The atmosphere quickly turned tense.
To de-escalate the situation, a man in a brown tie came out of the staff room. He looked like a typical manager. He calmly apologized and said we could return to the tower in an hour at no charge, but we needed to leave immediately. One college-aged man questioned this decision. The manager explained that a VIP had reserved the tower for an hour. When the students protested, the manager firmly denied their objections.
Then, a wealthy-looking man claimed to be a government employee. He insisted on knowing the name of the VIP. The manager replied, "Please understand, Young Master Lin Chen from the Golden Dragon Guild is coming here."
Upon hearing this, the man fell silent, evidently intimidated by the name. The thugs in suits started to smile, and some people who were unsure of the significance understood that we were in the presence of someone powerful, so we should leave.
As I pondered the situation, an idea formed in my mind. This encounter felt like a repeat of the past, clearly linked to fate wanting Lin Chen and Lu Xiaoran to confront each other. This time, however, I decided to take a different approach. I quietly instructed my disciples to stay put; it was time for Lu Xiaoran to meet his old classmate, Lin Chen.
