Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Vaelor stared at the cascading rainbow text floating before his eyes, blinking repeatedly as if the act might somehow alter what he was seeing.

This couldn't be real.

"Primordial Origin exclusive talent?!" he stammered aloud, his voice echoing through the vast temple chamber. "What the actual hell?!"

His mind raced. "What tier is this even supposed to be?! Is the System Integration glitching? Did I accidentally break reality?"

With trembling fingers, he mentally selected the notification to examine the details more thoroughly.

[Unlimited Amplification](Primordial Origin)

Effect: Upon activation, randomly amplifies one of the following: comprehension, physical body, origin talent, skills, or equipment. Amplification magnitude is randomized with a minimum multiplier of 100,000x. No upper limit exists. All effects are permanent. Amplified abilities possess a probability of evolving to higher tiers.

Usage: Grants one amplification opportunity per life-level advancement.

Currently Available: 1 use

Evaluation: Unlimited amplification enables unlimited evolution. The power to transcend divinity itself.

Vaelor pinched his own cheek hard enough to leave a mark.

"Am I hallucinating? Did I die on the way here and this is some elaborate afterlife?"

His thoughts spiraled into barely controlled chaos. This ability was absolutely monstrous. Completely unreasonable. The kind of protagonist-level cheat that appeared in trashy web novels where the main character became invincible within three chapters.

A minimum multiplier of one hundred thousand times?!

If he amplified his physical body, wouldn't he immediately become superhuman? If he amplified a combat skill, wouldn't he be able to obliterate opponents effortlessly? And he could use this ability every single time he advanced a life level, which meant infinite amplifications across an entire cultivation journey!

"This is..." Vaelor whispered reverently, "absolutely broken."

Before he could further contemplate the implications of possessing reality's most overpowered cheat ability, new text materialized before him.

[Initiating comprehensive attribute scan... Matching optimal profession options...]

[Match complete]

Six luminous panels materialized in a semicircle around him, each displaying distinct information.

[Shadow Reaper](Common) A lethal specialist in covert elimination. Exceptional single-target burst damage potential with emphasis on stealth mechanics.

[Crimson Berserker](Rare) A warrior who channels lifeforce into devastating offensive power. Possesses bloodsteal and blood-detonation techniques for sustained combat dominance.

[Radiant Sovereign](Epic) An elemental caster specialized in light-based techniques. Combines offensive capabilities with supportive healing. Excels in both area-of-effect bombardment and precision strikes.

[Essence Flow Master](Legendary) A martial artist who has comprehended the fundamental principles of vital energy manipulation. All techniques bypass conventional defenses.

[Runic Hierophant](Legendary) One who commands the primal power contained within language itself. Speaks and reality obeys.

[Martial Cultivation God](Mythical) ? ? ? ?

Vaelor's jaw dropped so fast he briefly worried about dislocating it.

"Holy..." He couldn't even complete the thought.

Five out of six options were rare-tier or above! And one of them carried a Mythical classification—a tier he'd never even heard whispered about in academy lectures!

Context made this even more insane. In all of Thornhaven City, professionals with rare-tier jobs could be counted on two hands. Epic-tier individuals? You could count them on one hand—and every single one held positions of tremendous authority and power.

Legendary-tier professionals were the stuff of living legends. Mythical? That shouldn't even exist as a category.

"Which one do I choose?" Vaelor muttered, pacing nervously before the floating panels.

Academy instructors had drilled one principle into every student's head: select the profession that aligns most naturally with your fundamental nature and combat philosophy. Forcing a poor match would cripple your growth potential permanently.

"Essence Flow Master seems incredible. Runic Hierophant sounds insanely versatile too."

His gaze drifted to the mysterious final option.

"Martial Cultivation God... a mythical-tier profession I've literally never heard mentioned once in three years of study. And there's absolutely no description. The job awakening trial for something like that has to be impossibly difficult—probably nightmare-tier at minimum."

Failing a job awakening trial meant exactly what it sounded like: failure. No profession. Civilian status for life. In a world where Abyssal Spawn threatened humanity's existence, remaining powerless meant accepting death as an inevitability.

[Please finalize your selection. Countdown initiated: 30... 29...]

The timer's appearance forced Vaelor's hand.

His father's words echoed in his memory: "When faced with impossible odds, the Draeth family doesn't retreat. We charge forward."

"Screw it. I'm all in."

[Selection confirmed: Martial Cultivation God (Mythical)]

[Trial challenge required for job awakening]

[Available difficulty tiers: Normal, Hard, Nightmare]

[Trial completion at chosen difficulty grants job awakening and corresponding rewards]

Vaelor didn't even hesitate this time. "Nightmare difficulty. Let's go."

If he was going to gamble on a mythical profession, half-measures were pointless. Either he'd succeed spectacularly or fail catastrophically—but at least he'd fail while aiming for the absolute peak.

Besides, he had [Unlimited Amplification] as his trump card. Time to see if it lived up to the absurd hype.

[Selection confirmed. Initiating spatial transfer to trial arena...]

Brilliant light engulfed his vision. When it cleared, Vaelor found himself standing in an entirely different environment—a vast circular chamber constructed from some kind of luminous white stone.

[Welcome to the Trial Spire, Floor 1 of 10]

[Complete all ten floors to achieve job awakening]

[A perfect duplicate of yourself will manifest. Defeat your duplicate within sixty seconds or face trial failure]

The instant the system message faded, a figure materialized across from him.

It was... himself. Identical in every conceivable way—same height, same build, same combat stance, same confused expression.

Then the duplicate's eyes focused, and it exploded forward with a devastating punch aimed directly at Vaelor's face.

Vaelor barely managed to raise a defensive guard in time. The impact sent shockwaves up both arms.

"Damn it!" He grunted, deflecting a follow-up kick. "Nightmare difficulty doesn't mess around. The very first floor pits me against a perfect copy with identical stats and techniques?"

They exchanged rapid blows—punch, counter, kick, dodge, grapple, break—each movement mirrored by the other with mechanical precision. It was like fighting his own reflection given physical form and murderous intent.

Thirty seconds elapsed. Neither combatant had gained meaningful advantage.

"This is impossible," Vaelor realized, narrowly avoiding a strike to his solar plexus. "We're perfectly matched. I can't defeat myself in the remaining time."

Twenty seconds remaining.

"No choice then." Vaelor made his decision. "Time to see what this cheat ability can actually do."

He mentally activated [Unlimited Amplification] while simultaneously throwing a feint to create space.

[Ding! Primordial Origin talent [Unlimited Amplification] activated]

[Random effect determination in progress...]

[Result: Comprehension amplified by 100,000x]

[Evolution triggered: Comprehension has evolved into Divine-Tier Talent - Absolute Insight]

The effect was instantaneous and overwhelming.

Vaelor's consciousness exploded outward like a supernova. For a split second, he experienced something akin to cognitive death as his brain struggled to process the sheer volume of information suddenly flooding his neural pathways.

Then everything... clarified.

His dark eyes flickered with rainbow iridescence. Time didn't literally slow—but his perception and processing speed accelerated to such ridiculous heights that the world around him might as well have frozen.

The charging duplicate appeared to move through molasses. Every micro-expression, every muscle twitch, every shift in weight distribution became crystal clear. Vaelor's enhanced mind instantly calculated thousands of potential response patterns, discarding inefficient options until only optimal solutions remained.

Within his mental space, billions of conceptual stars ignited—each representing a fragment of knowledge, a martial principle, a combat theory. They arranged themselves into intricate formations, cross-referenced, synthesized, and evolved.

[Ding! Through enhanced comprehension and mental deduction, your Basic Martial Arts has achieved Perfect Mastery!]

[Ding! Comprehension breakthrough achieved: Vibrational Force Technique acquired]

The duplicate closed the final meter of distance, fist drawn back for what should have been a decisive blow.

Vaelor's eyes—still glowing with prismatic light—tracked the attack with perfect clarity. He shifted his weight minutely, angling his head just enough for the punch to whistle harmlessly past his ear.

Before the duplicate could recover, Vaelor pivoted on his back foot and delivered a devastating palm strike directly to its face. The impact created a visible shockwave.

The duplicate's head simply... ceased to exist. Disintegrated by force it had no capacity to withstand.

"Was I really this weak before?" Vaelor stared at his still-raised hand in bewilderment, as if it belonged to someone else.

[Floor 1 cleared successfully]

[Reward: Strength +10]

[Spatial transfer to Floor 2 initiating...]

The environment shifted. Vaelor now faced two duplicates—both of which had faint orange flames flickering around their fists.

"Oh, so now they copied my origin talent too?" He observed calmly, rainbow light still dancing in his eyes. "Interesting escalation."

The duplicates attacked in synchronized patterns, fire-enhanced strikes coming from multiple angles simultaneously.

Vaelor's enhanced perception made their coordination look clumsy and predictable. He swayed between attacks like a leaf dancing on wind, never quite where the strikes landed. A casual backfist shattered one duplicate's skull. A rising knee obliterated the second.

"Still far too weak," he murmured.

By the time Vaelor obliterated the final duplicate on Floor 10—dispatching ten perfect copies of himself within the sixty-second time limit—the entire Trial Spire erupted with spectacular effects.

Rainbow light burst from every surface. Ethereal fireworks detonated in impossible colors. Triumphant music swelled from nowhere and everywhere simultaneously.

[FLOOR 10 CLEARED SUCCESSFULLY]

Vaelor stood amidst the celebration effects, rainbow light still flickering in his eyes, and allowed himself a small, satisfied smile.

"Well," he said to the empty chamber, "that went better than expected."
