Chapter 5 - Chapter five

Therion had not seen the Alpha for three days straight. He was almost relieved. Almost.

But he had not stepped out of his cell since then. Cramped and feeling claustrophobic even though the space wasn't all that small. He was just too used to it now and a change of scenery would be nice.

When the maid came in with his breakfast, he took up the opportunity to ask her. So yes, for this past three days, he had been served in his cell , not grand or anything but infinitely better than eating on the ground with an audience.

"Is the Alpha not feeling well?" He had been debating on how best to approach the topic, wondering if he should ask about her day. But he didn't have time, the alpha's lap dog, who also went by Sirus wasn't present at the moment but he never left for too long.

The maid glanced at him, chewing on her lip for a second before deciding that he wouldn't do anything with the truth anyway. "He's away on a trip" she answered quickly pouring the water, which wasn't enough by the way, into a cup.

"Did he say when he would be back?"

She frowned now "He always returns after three days'

Always? Was this a reoccurring thing? But before he could voice his question, she was scurrying out of the cell knocking over the cup of water on the way. Well there goes his last hope of quenching his thirst.

Sirus was back to his post at the door now and Therion was glad the girl had been toon afraid to stay longer.

So the alpha usually take trips and always returns after three days . Interesting, and also convenient . Three days was more than enough for him to take his own little trip. But then he remembered this was the third day already.

Shit.

Later that night, after the second meal of the day , being dinner had been served. Therion counted sheep but not to help fall asleep but rather to stall time.

To keep him awake. The irony

When the candles went out, he recited the spell he had memorized explicitly and sighed in relief when the cuffs clicked open. He recited the same spells for the bolted window and the bolt clicked open as well.

With one last glance at his now empty cell, he jumped.

Theron did not have an exact plan on what to do once he was out, but he knew the layouts of the fortress by now. Casting a silencer and invisibility spell on himself. He tiptoed the guards on night duty. Some already snoring.

Once in the woods , he released the holds on the spell and stumbled a bit. This was the problem of practicing magic as an alpha, which was why he always had to be in tip top shape to e able to accommodate the borrowed energy.

With the last magic energy left, he conjured up the bottle he would be needing, which prompted a cough of blood out of his mouth, and made his way to the stream quickly. There were some omegas around, Therion could smell them, he could also smell the alphas too. They seemed to be engaging in more… interesting activities, he thought drily.

He dunked to the bank of the river and peeked around. No one would be able to recognize him anyway due to the fact that they couldn't even see him and to anyone who did, it would most likely look like he was about to take a bath.

He quickly uncapped the lip of his bottle and dumped the contents into the water, watching it turn a pale blue for a split second before assuming its original colorless state

Now that he was done, he made his way back to the mansion , almost getting lost once. Although he would never admit it. He cursed when he saw fire light from afar. Seemed someone was patrolling.

So, the guards weren't lazy after all. Or the universe just really hated Therion.

Might be the latter

was most likely the latter

He hid behind a shrub and wondered if he could just wait out here. But quickly decided against it. By morning, Sirus would most definitely be checking his cell and there would be more guards to deal with if the sun was to come up.

He had to get back and he had to get back now.

He saw the guard who was checking out the area and sent a silent thanks that the guard was just a guard. Without the s

The blackclaw exile picked up a rock and stilled before throwing it to the opposite direction distracting the guard for a moment and using that opportunity to escape

"Hey! Hey! Who's there?"

Shit. Therion cursed inwardly, the guard must had heard him running, what should he do? Shit. Shit. Shit.

He couldn't climb back to his cell now and it would soon be morning. Just then he saw something that resembled a small shed just beneath the cell window. It looked small and he most likely wouldn't be able to pass through the small dog door. It was at times like this that he really hated his size.

But now was not the time, he simply had no choice but to follow through. Once inside after what must had been a minute of pure agony, Therion was finally able to catch his breath. He would wait a minute or two then return back to his holding cell.

That was until he heard the whimpers. Who else was here? He was glad the masking spell hadn't worn off and no one would be able to pinpoint who he was.

The whimpering grew loudly and it almost sounded painful. The shed was covered with pitch darkness and he couldn't see a thing but maybe that was a good thing. Who ever was here couldn't see him too.

Harsh breaths were exhaled now. He could distinctly smell as omega in need and the alpha in him ached to reach out and protect the omega. He realized that he hadn't smelled this particular omega in the mansion. So not one of the workers then, or maybe it was one he hadn't met yet.

"Who's there? Alpha?" Shit the omega had noticed he wasn't alone. The place was still dark and he was completely invisible. Thank God for small mercies.

But the omega was coming closer now, walking towards him

"Alpha?" The voice sounded a bit scratchy like he had been crying a while and -

Wait. Therion knew that voice.

It belonged to his captor, Ashriel.

He quickly thought back to the bottle he was yet to return. They weren't anti-depressants, they were suppressants. That explained why Therion couldn't get a scent out of him. Ashriel was an omega, and he wasn't in pain.

He was in heat.
