Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven's!

Hawk didn't know how other Saint Warriors cultivated.

After all, the Saint Warriors he knew were from an anime.

This is reality.

As everyone knows.

Stories need logic; reality does not.

So...

Hawk, who practiced punching ten thousand times a day continuously for a thousand days, could say that he had already perfected such a simple punch technique.

How does that saying go?

If someone can practice drawing and sheathing a sword a hundred thousand times, they can master the Heaven-Slaying Sword-Drawing Art.

The number of times he withdrew and then punched far exceeded a hundred thousand, and after he completed the Little Cosmos Cultivation activation task, this single punch technique finally underwent a qualitative change.

Sound Speed Fist!

A type of punch that can increase his punching speed to sonic levels, and when burning his Little Cosmos, could possibly surpass the speed of sound.

What is a Sound Speed Fist?

It's when my fist strikes your body, you'll feel the pain first, then hear the sound of my punch.

That's what a Sound Speed Fist is.

Boom!

As an aircraft exploded mid-air over the block, Hawk narrowly escaped danger by jumping down from it, listening to the explosive sound of punches by his ear. He pulled out a weapon from behind him, which also emitted a ghostly green glow, a spear-like weapon instead of a firearm. He looked at Hawk, who stood bare-chested, with a physique like a sculpted statue.

There was nothing he could do.

While Hawk was unharmed under the Chitauri's carpet bombing, the T-shirt he had worn for several years met its end amid the flying debris.

But that was a minor issue.

Shedding the shattered T-shirt, Hawk, wearing only gray sweatpants and a pair of old sneakers, felt a little stronger.

And this wasn't an illusion.

As everyone knows.

Stripping boosts combat power!

"Human!"

The Captain of the Chitauri, holding the ghostly green spear, stared intently at Hawk with his relatively large green bean-like eyes beneath the helmet.

Hawk's image also appeared on the display screens of the Chitauri alien mothership behind the wormhole.

Hawk looked at the Captain of the Chitauri, who held the ghostly green spear, and tilted his head with a smile.

In the next second.

He extended his right hand towards the Captain of the Chitauri, opened his palm, closed his fingers, and beckoned to the Captain of the Chitauri.

No unnecessary words.

"Come!"

"Die!"

The Captain of the Chitauri saw Hawk's nonchalant expression and nearly mocking gesture, remained expressionless, and with a boom, his foot instantly shattered the ground. Simultaneously, he closed in rapidly on Hawk, as the spear's tip in his hand emitted ghostly green light, shooting one energy beam after another.

Hawk also pushed off the ground, instantly cracking and sinking the surface, transforming into a golden flash that tore through the visual field toward the Captain of the Chitauri.

From memory, once the Little Cosmos was awakened and recognized by their respective constellations, and they donned the Holy Armor of their constellations, the Bronze Saint Warriors' bodies became extremely terrifying beings.

Their body's defense would be astonishing, their punch speed and movements would reach the speed of sound.

Even their lifespan far surpassed that of ordinary humans.

Although Hawk has only awakened the Little Cosmos as of now, he hasn't unlocked his constellation, nor does he have the shadow of Holy Armor, but this doesn't affect the fact that, in a sense, Hawk is no longer an ordinary human.

So...

"Pfft!"

As the Captain of the Chitauri closed in rapidly, trying to use long-range attacks to interfere and stop Hawk, intending to kill Hawk upon getting close, his expression suddenly changed, and he spat out ghostly green blood.

The force of the ghostly green blood was so strong that it shattered the Captain of the Chitauri's metallic mask, revealing a face that looked more like a bug than a human.

The next moment.

The punch sound arrived, exploding by the Captain of the Chitauri's ear.

"Boom!"

The Captain of the Chitauri, staggering, looked down at the hand piercing through his solid armor into his chest.

The Captain of the Chitauri emitted a scream that was difficult to understand or meaningless, trying to lift his increasingly heavy head to take another look at the human who killed him with one strike.

But...

He didn't have the time, even as he was halfway to lifting his head, with the arm withdrawing from his chest, boundless darkness instantly engulfed him.

Boom!

Losing the support of Hawk's arm, the Captain of the Chitauri, engulfed in endless darkness, fell to the ground like a dead insect.

As the Captain of the Chitauri fell toward the ground, Hawk hooked his right hand, snatching the energy spear from the Captain.

The ghostly green liquid filling the inside of the energy spear emitted a glow of ghostly green as energy flowed through it.

Hawk weighed the energy spear in his hand.

Suddenly, he considered this question.

If he were to take this energy spear and the few weapons dropped by the Chitauri soldiers he just killed to the black market, how much could he sell them for?

Alien weapons...

They should be quite valuable.

Hawk thought, instinctively glancing at a corner of the apartment's ruins.

When he was arranging the bodies, he casually threw those four energy firearms into a large pit.

At this moment.

From the corner of his eye, Hawk caught a glimpse of a sudden brilliant blue light in the sky over Manhattan.

Returning to his senses.

He gazed up into the sky over Manhattan.

Before his eyes.

The ghostly blue pillar of light that seemed to always exist between heaven and earth had vanished, and simultaneously, the rift that tore the sky over Earth was closing at a speed visible to the naked eye.

"Just this?"

"Is it over?"

"Is the Chitauri Soldier invasion of Earth's mission over?"

"Why does it feel..."

Hawk blinked.

He wanted to say that if he'd known the Chitauri Soldier invasion of Earth was so weak and powerless, would he have been so worried and afraid?

But...

Hawk withdrew his gaze, looking at what had completely turned into a mess, resembling a post-war ruin, where remnants of bodies and limbs could still be seen, and the words he was going to say lingered in his mind.

It wasn't that the Chitauri Soldiers were too weak.

It's that he had become stronger.

"If I hadn't happened to awaken the Little Cosmos at this time, there might have been a part of me among those remnants."

Hawk's gaze fell on the visible remnants, thinking in his mind, firming up one thought even more.

He has to become stronger.

Keep getting stronger.

Not for anything else, just to have the right to say this one thing.

My fate is mine to determine.

Not the heavens!

But Hawk still has one important thing to do right now.

And that is...

To find a place to securely store the five alien weapons he worked hard to obtain, and then find a way to sell them for money to improve his life.

...
