Chapter 178 - Chapter 60: Ambush!

Mercer spoke unhurriedly, "I'm not going to ask about those things now. I have a rough understanding. I'll ask something else."

"Okay, okay..." Emilia thought those two women were quite scary. In contrast, the masked Mercer seemed to speak more gently. Maybe they could negotiate?

"The biotech company, I mean the one in Night City, besides your waste project, are there any valuable experiments, equipment, things... you know what I mean."

After Mercer finished speaking, Emilia was startled, "You plan to... you plan to go to the company and just take stuff? No, that's impossible! You can't do it!"

"It's not that I underestimate you, but even at midnight, there are two full teams of elite agents stationed at the company, along with over a dozen robots, and dozens of biotech soldiers on rotation duty.

Every critical resource is monitored 24/7, and we can call for backup. Usually, there are three combat teams resting in nearby dorms, ready to respond to a battle within ten minutes!"

Under Mercer's mask, his eyebrows furrowed. He tilted his head slightly, "I ask the questions, you give the answers."

"Alright... fine! Let me think..."

Emilia bit her lip, deep in thought, "There's not much stored in our database here. Many of the company's devices are large-scale, the kind you can't carry away. Small-scale devices...

Advanced blood purification machines? Nano robot production machines? But these are hard to take, the raw materials are tightly controlled by us. You can take the machines, but without the special raw materials needed for them, they're useless.

Let me think... uh, there are a lot of experimental data in the servers, and some equipment blueprints? Maybe those are what you need?"

Mercer sighed.

It seemed there wasn't anything worth spending more effort on.

Perhaps he would have to hack the servers and see if there was any treasure he needed hidden in the data himself.

Well, it might be worth it to sell a big scoop along with a pile of biotech data.

Hearing Mercer's sigh, Emilia's hair stood on end, "I really don't know anything else, please..."

Sparks suddenly ignited around her head, and before Mercer's back cooling fan could activate, her brain had already been hacked.

Mercer took out a data cable from his palm and plugged it directly into her neck, scanning everything in her brain-computer system, copying whatever was needed, then unplugged the personal chip from her neck, transferring all the money, and opened his laptop.

Using the unconscious Emilia's personal information, he quickly found the matching bank, and then Mercer shook her awake again.

"What's the bank password?"

After Mercer asked, Emilia stared at him blankly, only starting to regain her senses after a moment.

Realizing she was doomed, her expression gradually twisted into a terrifying grimace, "You're going to kill me... want my money? Dream on!

If you want money, then let me go. As long as I see a way out, I'll give you any amount of money. But now, you get nothing..."

Mercer pondered for a moment, then suddenly had a brainwave, transmitting a lie detector program to her head directly.

"How many digits is your online banking login password, 6-8?"

"You'll never find out!" Emilia cursed in pain, clutching her head.

"Seven digits? Looks like that's correct. The first digit, 123456... seems like it's 6. The second digit, 12345, hmm, it's 5."

Mercer quickly found he didn't need Emilia to answer, simply using the neural response value fluctuations provided by the lie detector program to judge.

Even if he didn't get some of the digits right, Mercer only needed a rough idea.

Emilia wanted desperately to break free from the torment, preferring to die rather than let Mercer take her money for nothing.

And Mercer, after a few simple tries, opened her bank account, then used the personal authorization embedded in Emilia's body to effortlessly transfer the money into his personal chip's virtual wallet.

"Wow~ Thirty-seven thousand Euros! It has to be you, a director pulling in that much?

Damn, something's not right. You must have more money hidden away. With your level and lack of scruples, it doesn't make sense not to have a million Euros in savings."

Mercer was overjoyed.

Damn, are these corporate dogs really this rich!?

Why didn't I have this experience back then!

If I had known this when I took out that old Arasaka woman, wouldn't I be rich by now?

"Ahhh! You'll surely go to hell! You bastard! Fuck!" Seeing that he really transferred the money out, Emilia let out a sharp, desperate scream.

And having had enough of her noise, V and Rebecca, upon receiving Mercer's nod of approval, without a word, each gave Emilia a hit.

V used his fist, Rebecca used her gunstock, and the two of them, one on the left and one on the right, almost beat Emilia to death.

"Thank goodness I blocked her biometrics monitoring, or else Trauma Team would probably be on their way."

Mercer glared at the two of them, "I meant just knock her out!"

"I know... blame her. She hit too hard with the gunstock." V immediately passed the buck.

"Ha? How dare you say that, you brute girl? I didn't hit as hard with my hammer as your punch!" Rebecca started another argument with her.

Mercer smiled, playing with Emilia's personal chip in his hand, checking with the computer to ensure there were no harmful programs before inserting it into his head.

He transferred all the virtual wallet's money into his own recently-purchased virtual wallet, which was devoid of any currency, and let out a blissful sigh.
