"Pira, how much longer to go?"
"We're there already, just a dirt road up a slope."
Pira responded, and the car started bouncing.
In less than three minutes, an open garage appeared in sight. Lucy and Qiwei were waiting for them by the garage, alongside a modified four-seater Mykino pickup borrowed from the Adcardo.
Besides that, Mercer's Jun Mizutani sports car was also parked nearby.
Mercer and the others quickly got out of the car, moved the goods, placed the stolen blood analysis device at the back of the pickup, and then dismantled valuable items like laptops and small servers from the car to load onto the pickup.
"V... never mind, Rebecca, you come with me to dump this woman, V, you and the others drive the pickup to take the stuff back to the Adcardo."
Mercer instructed, hesitated for a moment, but still handed the suitcase with drugs to V, while Rebecca enthusiastically grabbed Emilia.
With a cheer, Rebecca then gave her a heavy hit on the forehead before stuffing her into the trunk of Mercer's car.
Meanwhile, V and Pira took the tarp from the back of the pickup, covered the truck's contents, tied them tightly with ropes, and finally Pira got into the pickup's driver's seat.
"See you at the camp?"
V looked at Mercer.
Mercer nodded, "See you at the camp."
He stepped on the gas pedal, and with Rebecca's joyful laughter, the Mizutani 'Wild Wolf' shot out like a bullet.
Everything went smoothly, and on the way back, Mercer even saw the NCPD leaving Night City, probably someone had reported an incident on the highway.
But it was precisely because he saw the NCPD first that Mercer relaxed completely—this indicated that his information blackout was very successful, and none of the people in the whole car had triggered a rescue alert.
Biotech probably didn't even know their vehicle was hijacked until now, let alone investigating who did it.
As expected, Mercer took a detour around Night City to head to the East Suburb landfill, without any obstruction, so effortlessly, it felt more like a leisurely drive.
When they reached near the landfill, Mercer parked the car, and Rebecca eagerly jumped down with her shotgun.
"Leave it to me, leave it to me! I'll blast this scumbag into two pieces with my shotgun!"
Rebecca, full of killing intent, opened Mercer's trunk. Inside, Emilia was still unconscious, her head swollen from the bumpy ride.
Even if she wanted to wake up, she couldn't, as her mind was kept under Mercer's hacking control. Any sign of brainwave awakening, Mercer would knock her out with a brute-force data attack.
Rebecca roughly dragged her out of the car, and due to her short stature, as she pulled Emilia's arm forward, most of her body dragged on the ground.
Mercer thought for a moment and followed.
The landfill he chose was the very spot in the game where the protagonist V was shot by the big black guy and then dumped. Here, resurrected by the Relic Chip, V had no choice but to go after Arasaka to survive.
Though the amount of garbage here wasn't as much or exaggerated yet, it had started to take shape.
Emilia didn't wake up even when dragged to the landfill's depths. Rebecca kicked her roughly twice and finally turned to look at Mercer, "Is she already dead?"
"Let me check."
Mercer stimulated her brain with data, and Emilia shuddered, slowly opened her eyes, muttering blankly, "Where, where am I..."
"Good!" Rebecca snorted coldly, chambering a round into her shotgun and aiming it at Emilia's head.
"No! Don't kill me! Don't..." Emilia's pleas were cut short.
"Go tell that to those you poisoned!"
Rebecca mercilessly pulled the trigger.
She just wanted this woman to watch herself die—for those unsuspecting people poisoned by Biotech, this was the shot.
Emilia's head instantly exploded into fragments, and Rebecca, still not satisfied, fired two more shots before she reluctantly put her gun away. After a deep breath, the landfill's stench made her scrunch up her face.
She turned her head to look at Mercer, then smiled, "Thanks, I feel much better."
"Let's go. Her implants will lose power soon, then the employee's biometric alarm will be triggered."
Mercer finished speaking, and Rebecca giggled, walked to his side, leaning against his arm, "Where are we heading next?"
"First, we'll go back, switch vehicles, then we'll stake out near Biotech's company—provided there's no emergency state, we're executing the infiltration at two tonight."
After Mercer finished speaking, he paused, "Once we've secured the data and delivered the items to Wagako, this job is done."
Then we can take a few days off, lay low, and meet up with Hans in Dog Town.
Once we're in Dog Town, even if Biotech gets our personal information, it won't matter anymore since Biotech doesn't hold sway there."
"So... we're just letting it go like that?" Rebecca naturally wrapped one of his hands in her arms, slightly tilting her head to look at him sideways.
Mercer tried to pull his arm—failed, not due to a lie, but because Rebecca's strength, though small to V, was disproportionately strong to him.
"What do you mean by that?" Mercer turned his head to look at Rebecca.
