Chapter 200 - Chapter 63: Dog Town Base

After Mercer finished speaking, he said, "Now contact the people at the camp. I'll coordinate with Hans, figure out the details, and then get in touch with you to start. Let's aim to get everything done in half a month so we can move in."

"Alright, big boss, whatever you say," Pan'an replied.

"How about I reserve a room for you?" Mercer asked tentatively.

Pan'an hesitated, then shook her head, "Forget it. I'd rather stay home. I can visit you once in a while. Just leave me a couch in such a large place."

"If you come, I can even give you my room. I've gotten used to sleeping in my hacker chair these days," Mercer said with a smile, chatted with her for a bit, then hung up and went back to coordinating the renovation with Hans.

Hans mentioned that the house was Mercer's to use however he wished. Even if Mercer no longer stayed in Dog Town, the place would still belong to him since the Cubans had already abandoned it.

If one day the Cubans decide to do something in Night City, it would mean Hansen was finished, and they would take over Gem Cyan Hotel to become the boss of Dog Town again, making an abandoned warehouse unnecessary.

One has to admit, Hans is really generous with Mercer, essentially giving away a big house before any business was even discussed.

Even though most properties in Dog Town aren't worth much and are neglected, the gesture is still appreciated.

Finally, Hans gave Mercer a phone number and said it was the manager of a construction company he knew in Taiping Prefecture, which could handle all the building materials and equipment rentals at a known discount price.

As for the Netherworld Dog checkpoint, it wouldn't be an issue. Hans would send Mercer a batch of temporary passes to keep in his vehicle, just needing to show the Netherworld Dog personnel at the checkpoint.

He also enthusiastically said that if Mercer had other friends needing permanent passes, they could send their information to him, and he'd handle it.

Even Mercer, who originally had some prejudice against Hans, had to genuinely thank him. This favor was something he owed now.

Afterward, Mercer scanned and recorded the construction information with his prosthetic eye, then returned to Adcardo with V.

He chatted for a bit with Adcardo's construction expert, then took them to Dog Town for an on-site inspection.

Later in Dog Town, Mercer and Adcardo's expert in the warehouse discussed the renovation plans and settled on a rough plan based on their suggestions.

Then Mercer handed over details like purchasing renovation materials, equipment rental, and transportation to Adcardo's professionals to communicate with the company.

He didn't understand the Cyberpunk World's building market, so he left the professional tasks to the professionals, only taking care of the overall direction.

Of course, there's one more important thing – paying.

After Adcardo's people received a payment of 100,000 Euros, they promised Mercer that with twenty people, they would reduce the workers' daily wage to 40 Euros and aim to refurbish and renovate the entire warehouse within a week.

This speed is ridiculously fast, and the price is not expensive. In terms of the Cyberpunk World's wage standards, an ordinary dock worker earns only 30 Euros a day.

Yes, in the Cyberpunk World, an ordinary dock worker's monthly salary is only 800 Euros, and even for skilled jobs like Adcardo's construction workers, they only charge 40 Euros a day now.

Of course, meals aren't included, but drinking water has to be – water resources in Night City have always been a problem. Buying pure water costs a whopping 99 Euros for one gallon!

During construction, the basement's water purification system had to be shut down, as the workers didn't want to drink tap water, which could be dangerous.

Not wanting to take advantage of his brothers, Mercer simply covered their meals and water during the construction period, relying on the foreman's conscience for accounting.

He stayed at the camp for a while and knew that Adcardo's people, especially the workers, lived in difficult conditions with very little work.

Since he wasn't short on those few thousand Euros, he increased the workers' wages to 50 Euros – the market rate for outside work, not taking advantage of personal connections.

The only request was to quickly and thoroughly renovate the entire base.

Mercer thought that since he was going to do it, he might as well renovate the entire warehouse, even completely changing the first floor and replacing the hidden switch door with a hidden elevator.

He planned to remodel the first floor into half residential and half commercial space. He intended to sell weapon mods, various chips in a store, and take on small side jobs like prosthetic program updates and weapon upgrades.

The store on the surface could help conceal their true identity and the warehouse's true purpose, keeping the underground base well hidden.

As long as Hans and Adcardo's workers didn't leak information, the Spark Team could safely hide in the secret base. Even if attacked, the enemy wouldn't know they lived underground.

In an emergency, they could still evacuate through the yet-to-be-cleared underground sewer system.
