Chapter 226 - Chapter 67: Saving the Bootleg Batman

[Rebecca: Alright~]

She bent down, grabbed two people with one hand, and tossed them into the trash can like garbage.

V, disgusted, aimed at the trash can with the head Rebecca had plucked off and shot a three-pointer. After scoring precisely, he flicked his hand and smugly raised an eyebrow at Mercer walking from the back door.

"Alright, stop showing off. I only hacked into the main door and a few cameras by the door using the backdoor turret. We still don't know what's inside, so keep it low-key."

Mercer walked to the side of the back door, and the factory's back door slowly rose open. A folding turret was hidden in the ceiling behind that door.

But unfortunately, it faced Mercer's prosthetic eye, capable of scanning through walls up to 32 meters. Without signal interference, Mercer had already hacked it along with its security server behind it.

"It's still work hours; we need to use the employee passage."

After Mercer finished speaking, V was stunned: "This food factory is still running?"

"Yes, but we don't know what they're making. Maybe counterfeit food, or simply using it to produce drugs... who knows what those Vortex Gang lunatics are doing with the machines inside."

After Mercer finished speaking, he pointed the way at the fork in the corridor: "I guess our target might be locked in the innermost basement.

Our goal is not to rush in and fight them—so we need to first find a server that can connect to the basement network."

"Understood...but how do we find it?" V blinked and looked at him.

"Are you relying on me a bit too much?" Mercer turned his head to look at her.

And V replied a bit annoyed, "I don't know which way leads where in this factory. Can't exactly check every room... Besides, aren't you supposed to be the smart one? Now you need me to think?"

"Makes sense, this can also be considered a manifestation of wisdom in disguise." Mercer praised.

V gritted her teeth, clenching her fists, contemplating that if this job pays well, she'd better pay Mercer back as soon as she gets the money—otherwise, she might really hold back her hand.

"Let's go; I'll use my prosthetic eye to judge from the network devices. Wherever there's a lot of network signals, that's where the server is."

Mercer said, entering the hallway with his Zhuo-style shotgun in his arms, the shotgun already connected to his hand's smart link, ready to fire at any time.

Mercer walked slowly down the corridor, nearly every camera would "look down" when spotting him. This scene amazed Rebecca and V; what was supposed to be a stealth operation now seemed like a leisurely walk.

"Click." A Vortex Gang member suddenly opened a door in the corridor. Before V could react, the Vortex Gang member's head exploded with electric sparks, his mouth agape as he fell facedown, emitting only a brief gasp.

This Vortex Gang modified himself too brutally; eyes, nose, and mouth were all replaced with prosthetics. Mercer felt a bit bad hacking him, as a Magic Puppet Program turned all his prosthetics against him didn't feel too great.

Inside the room, only one Vortex Gang member remained, indulging in a Mewtwo high. Mercer gently sent him a Synaptic Fusion, and that Vortex Gang probably didn't even feel his brain burning, dying in Mewtwo's world.

Mercer hadn't gone far when he scanned a place resembling a security room with his prosthetic eye.

Just looking at the security room located on the second floor of the factory's workshop, and then at the seven Vortex Gang members gathered on the first floor of the factory, watching the machines run while drinking and chatting, Mercer knew the tough part had arrived.

"I need to think..."

Mercer pondered for a while at the corner of the employee passage. Hack them all at once?

Hacking seven people's heads simultaneously seemed a bit difficult, mainly because he couldn't guarantee he could take them all out in an instant. Trigger an alarm, and they'd have to fight the entire factory's Vortex Gang.

Even if Mercer's brain could handle it, his Network Access Vault's memory was limited. Running too many programs at once might not transmit that much data.

This is why Mercer chose to use a hacker car to deal with the Behemoth in the first place. Network confrontation not only tests brain computing power but also considers the Network Access Vault's memory and data transmission speed...

Should he try Brain-Machine Overclocking and Krenzikov?

Mercer thought it over and felt this might indeed be a good opportunity. With V backing him up, he could test his limit combat power.

"V, I need to overclock and hack their brains. If something goes wrong, you need to step in, be ready."

After Mercer finished speaking, V immediately drew her pistol, cocked it, and nodded.

Rebecca had been waiting in boredom for a while now. At that moment, her eyes lit up as she clutched her shotgun, just waiting for something to go wrong.

Mercer took a deep breath, opened the cooling system in advance, and V and Rebecca saw the panels on his back and neck open in unison, the mechanical hum sounding like a small engine.

Synaptic Accelerator!

The moment Mercer poked his head out, he activated the Synaptic Accelerator. As his world slowed down, his prosthetic eye had accurately captured the signal in the distance.

Brain-Machine Overclocking!

In the instant of Brain-Machine Overclocking, Mercer's prosthetic eye began to emit noticeable blue light.

In Mercer's vision, red program boxes suddenly appeared over the nearly motionless heads of the Vortex Gang members.
