Chapter 244 - Chapter 70: Moving into Dog Town (Part 3)

V looked left and right and was surprisingly the first person interested in the kitchen. She walked over, touching here and there: "Fridge, oven, an induction stove, and a gas stove? Quite complete. What about the tableware?"

"In the cabinet," Mercer said.

V immediately opened the cabinet: "All ceramic plates? Aren't these expensive?"

"Not expensive, a set costs over a hundred Euros in Little Chinatown," Mercer said.

"Tsk tsk, the tableware's all here, and you have the cookware ready too, you're pretty detail-oriented. Have you cooked before?" V clicked her tongue in wonder.

She's not speaking without basis— in the Cyberpunk World, only a few people cook for themselves. It's not about laziness; ordinary people simply can't afford ingredients.

Whether it's vegetables or meat you can buy, they're far more expensive than just eating the company's synthetic fast food.

"Of course, buddy's cooking is delicious... Alright, follow me, I'll introduce the facilities, and then everyone can pick a room."

Mercer finished, first pushing open the door behind the living room, revealing another corridor stretching into the distance to everyone.

On both sides of the corridor were the doors to various rooms.

He first pushed open the nearest one, revealing a room: "This is the gym, come here to work out if you're bored. My suggestion is everyone practices with V."

V grinned: "Oh, there's a boxing ring? Awesome, I do like boxing."

Rebecca rubbed her hands with a grin: "Alright, I'm not afraid of you now!"

"Hey, boxing isn't just about strength," V said confidently, "When the time comes, I'll take you on with one hand!"

"Don't get hurt by me!" Rebecca said eagerly.

This gym, more than five meters long and eight meters wide, is nearly forty square meters, equipped with some exercise machines, a boxing ring, and enough room to move around.

"Further inside is our all-important hacker workspace."

Mercer said, pushing open the second door.

As soon as the door opened, the buzz of cooling fans mixed with a wave of hot and cold air hit everyone.

Upon seeing the interior, even Qiwei couldn't help but exclaim: "You really spent a lot, huh?"

The huge space, five meters long and almost thirty meters wide, revealed, upon opening the door, a large server setup directly covering an entire wall.

Or rather, currently, only one cabinet is filled with Zeta Technology's mini servers, while the other twenty-something cabinets are still empty, just pre-laid with wires and cooling channels.

In addition, there's a row of hacker chairs, which everyone bought themselves, with different models.

But considering there's already a server room now, these hacker chairs are mainly for connecting to Black Customer Service for cooling; computing power is less important.

Plus, there are numerous workbenches—primarily for chip processing and manufacturing. Small mechanical creations like drones, mech dogs, and the like can be crafted directly here without needing to go upstairs.

Mercer said with a bit of toothache: "Yeah, it's a lot... Not just the servers, even this cooling setup, the cabinets, and related gear cost over 200,000 Euros.

The back of these cabinets is a dedicated cooling channel directly connected to twelve cooling outlets in the warehouse, helping to water-cool the assembly. The intake has a high-power cooling fan, and running full cooling for a month costs a fortune in electricity."

Lucy asked, confused: "Why not just buy one cabinet first? So many cabinets must cost a lot too, right?"

"I pawned the car," Mercer said succinctly: "I pawned that Sword in the Stone with the Old Captain and got three million euros.

Don't think it's low; second-hand supercars don't really sell for much, and the Old Captain could only gather this much... He usually deals in no-cost trades, and today he even did a rare cost-dealing, not easy.

I plan to use this money to speculate in the stock market amidst the biotech trend, and then set up a server room to medium server standards in one go.

The Sword in the Stone is cool, heavily modified, but... our team can't really afford to take a luxury car like that out to do a mission, one scratch, and a whole small server's gone."

Mercer pointed at the wall-covered server cases, excited: "If it's filled up, my projected computing power could reach twenty times or even more than thirty times my hacker chair.

You should know my hacker chair is already way stronger than the usual trashy mini server setups!

With this computing power, even top-notch hackers from big companies can't break into my server online; running AI, large programs, testing new algorithms—it's more than enough."

"Hmm... How much do you plan to spend on this?" V asked cautiously, one hand unconsciously holding her heart.

"Of course, I'll spend as much as I can... Remember, the car sale money is just a loan to set up the servers; I have big plans. I'll pay you and Rebecca back your shares when I profit later."

Mercer finished, and Rebecca crossed her arms, a bit displeased: "I said no need for the shares... if you must give, just give me ten to twenty thousand euros."

"We agreed on one-third each." Mercer insisted, but even V, holding her heart, shook her head: "Forget it, this money... it feels too easy, it doesn't feel right taking it."
