Chapter 335 - Chapter 85: Faraday, What Are You Doing!

"K, stop fiddling with your broken sniper rifle and check out my big toy! Honestly, real men should use this!"

Evil Land, border area, a black Russian-made Caucasian Bratsk truck is speeding across the wilderness.

As an armored transport truck similar to Behemoth, despite looking somewhat shabby on the outside, its practicality is not far behind Behemoth.

The massive forward power allows it to accelerate recklessly on dirt roads even when carrying a tank. In a certain sense, using this truck to traverse Evil Land might be more robust and durable than Behemoth.

The only downside might be the outdated bulletproof armor of the cabin and the internal network equipment.

At this moment, an elite mercenary squad is using this truck to head to a designated location to lie in ambush.

As the leader of the mercenary squad, retired sniper K is somewhat helpless, watching the firepower expert beside him endlessly flaunting a large missile launcher, and sighs, "I say, Dave, you've been playing with that for days, isn't it enough yet?"

"Come on, this is high-level equipment that we barely had a chance to use back in the army!"

Dave strokes the muzzle of his prized possession with satisfaction—a device resembling a handheld rocket launcher at first glance.

But in fact, it's a mini missile launcher capable of electromagnetic ejection, sending missiles with a second ignition in the air.

Compared to a standard infantry rocket launcher, its biggest advantage is its ability to launch covertly beyond visual range, hitting targets precisely within 3 to 15 kilometers. After the missile launch, it accelerates upwards before cruising at high altitude.

At this point, the user only needs to use the visual guidance system built into the missile launcher, utilizing vision sharing after wiring into the brain-machine interface, connecting the missile's camera to the Prosthetic Eye for aerial targeting. Once the target is confirmed, the missile automatically locks onto the target and strikes.

Far beyond the power of an infantry rocket, coupled with the post-lock-on strike speed exceeding Mach 1, it effectively surpasses the anti-air capabilities of most infantry fighting vehicles.

"I hope we don't need to use it."

Another mercenary beside him shrugs, his Ajax assault rifle painted in desert camouflage. The desert camo suit and full-coverage helmet standard combat wear make him appear as competent as any elite soldier.

"Don't jinx it... if there's no chance to use it, we'll have to return this thing to Faraday... That guy is damn stingy; the issued equipment has to be returned." Dave says while sitting in the driver and passenger seats. The two mercenaries simultaneously laugh and curse, "You damn jinx, you're hiding safely behind the bulletproof steel plate.

If we're ambushed, the Russian truck's cabin will probably get penetrated by a single armor-piercing round."

"I'm talking about another squad failing... Hey, K, I've heard Mann seems to be mixing with another group of mercenaries, what's up?"

Dave turns his head to K.

K coldly holds the modified Bakeneko, "It's his own choice. If the time comes for us to take over the mission, according to Faraday's requirements, we must ensure they all die."

"Heh, I'd really love to see that guy's regretful expression..."

Dave continues to speak, but suddenly hears something unusual in his ear, squinting his eyes, he turns to look at the mercenary in the passenger seat, whose expression had already become serious.

"Quiet! Combat readiness!"

The mercenary in the passenger seat with a Prosthetic Eye flashing, rolls down the window, and quickly peers out. His Prosthetic Eye and auditory system are modified, providing a far greater detection range than ordinary people when activated.

"Three o'clock direction, 2.1KM, unidentified flying object approaching!"

"K!"

The mercenary in the driver seat immediately veers left, flooring the gas pedal.

"Decoy reconnaissance drone..." Before Dave finishes speaking, he sees K swiftly open the truck's back door, revealing a shooting window, kneeling on one knee raising his sniper rifle.

His Tsunami Defense customized sniper rifle lacks a sight; K's sight is his Prosthetic Eye. Now, as his Prosthetic Eye magnifies the target approaching in the distant sky, K curses, "Drone!"

He immediately presses the sniper rifle's charge shot button, but the eye-visible swarm of dense little black dots brings his breath to a halt.

"It's a suicide drone swarm! Drive faster, did we bring any small EMP?" K asks, Dave has already opened a box, "No, only two EMP Hand Grenades."

"Then get the machine gun and sweep!" K says, firing a shot, directly blasting a distant drone.

But against the dense swarm of drones, his precise sniping yields minimal results.

"Damn it..." Dave curses, forcefully lifting a heavy machine gun stands at the back door, activating Gorilla Arm, and in the instant of pulling the trigger, roaring bullets fly towards the swarming drones.

The mercenary in the passenger seat connects the brain-links to the vehicle system, unfolding the vehicle-mounted machine gun, popping open the bulletproof cover, shooting upwards.

Despite this, the dense swarm of drones still has some breakthrough penetrating the barrage, landing on their Pika.

The bulletproof armor withstands the explosion, but the massive impact still leaves the mercenaries at the rear of the truck momentarily dizzy, chest tight, nauseous with a blurry consciousness, fortunately, Dave is quick-eyed and closes the back door, preventing the drones from getting in.
