Chapter 577 - Chapter 249: Brother-in-Law Is Really Useless

"Damn it, messing with my memory again!"

Rhode, ending a day of work and training, had just laid down on the bed before suddenly sitting up.

During his routine 'self-reflection', he suddenly felt the memory magic cast on him was lifted.

Someone had implanted memories in him that 'Mest is a senior mage of Fairy Tail, very powerful, rarely seen in the guild. He participated in the S-Class exam last year but unfortunately failed…'.

So when Lucy was chatting with him and Mira about Mest during the day, he naturally 'recalled' this vague information.

At the time, he didn't think deeply about it, so he didn't find it strange at all.

Now thinking about it, that guy probably came back with Lucy, then hid near the guild to secretly cast magic, so Lucy wouldn't expose his cover when talking about him.

Once the date of the official selection arrived, he could smoothly come over, and even add a layer of insurance for those who weren't present today.

Unexpected and unavoidable.

But this clown, the 'false memories' he implanted were almost all facts…

Perhaps because of this, Rhode didn't feel any sense of incongruity, and naturally had no doubts.

Thinking about it made Rhode feel unpleasant.

No matter how you guard against others, you can't guard against your own fool.

Maybe it's best to tell the president early and have him called back. If this continues, this kid will eventually become a permanent undercover sent to Fairy Tail by the Council.

If he suddenly gets an idea and suggests to the Council to erase his memory related to the Council and join Fairy Tail as a newcomer, then there will be real trouble.

What Rhode couldn't understand was, the guild had made great contributions this time, so why had the Council sent him over to investigate?

After pondering about Mest for a while, Rhode lay back down and closed his eyes to sleep.

"What's the matter, Lahar? Excessive contact increases my risk of exposure."

Mest was at a secret temporary base outside Magnolia City, using a communication magic crystal to contact the Council.

Lahar said, "Come back, Dolanbart, Mr. Org believes there's no need to go to this extent.

"Moreover, Fairy Tail might soon have a second Ten Wizard Saints, infiltrating at this time isn't appropriate."

Mest argued, "What do you mean by appropriate or not? During Fairy Tail's S-Class exam, all their core members gather together, there's no better time than now!

"There's a rumor that Fairy Tail has a hidden dark side. This is the dark side of Fiore's First Guild, Lahar, don't you want to know what it is?"

Before Lahar could respond, a near-mad expression appeared on Mest's face, "I want to know, I really want to know what it is! If I can uncover this, I'll make a great contribution!"

"…" If Lahar didn't understand Dolanbart's personality, just looking at his current expression, he might mistake him for a major villain.

This guy always does as he likes and doesn't listen to advice. Usually, it's fine as he stays within the rules.

But ever since the influence of the previous councilor, whenever it involves Fairy Tail, he becomes particularly obsessed, as if the whole point of joining the Council was to catch Fairy Tail's slip-ups.

Lahar knew that ordinary persuasion wouldn't work, so he mentioned his superior, "Mr. Org…"

"Stop bringing up Mr. Org! I'm acting under Mr. Reggie's orders, and the chairman didn't explicitly oppose this, so let's see how I perform!"

Mest vowed confidently, "This time I'm definitely making a huge contribution, but don't worry, even if I do, I won't take your captaincy away."

"…" So should I be thanking you? At this point, Lahar had no choice but to advise, "Until you have concrete evidence, don't do anything reckless."

"Don't worry, don't worry, I'll contact you if there's anything. That's it for now." Mest disconnected the contact.

The weather was getting colder, and the heaters that Rhode had bought for the guild a few days ago were put to good use, and the ones left from last year were also brought out.

Whether it's upstairs, downstairs, or in the basement's card room and gym, the whole guild became as warm as spring.

The outdoor seating in front of the guild was mostly unused; of course, in winter, people tend to stay where it's warm.

Because of this, the guild, which should have been quieter recently, seemed to have more people instead.

"Aren't you cold like this?" Rhode asked while walking with Mira, staring at her calves.

Mira, just like last year, loved wearing skirts even in winter, exposing a part of her fair calves, though she added a jacket for the season.

Not only Mira, but Erza was also like this, usually wearing her blue mini skirt, exposing even more than Mira.

The other girls like Lisanna and Lucy were more daring, wearing T-shirts and shorts in winter, at most adding a long-sleeve thick jacket to it.

Mira glanced at the other girls on the street, dismissing the concern, "It's fine, everyone dresses like this."

"Hmm…" Rhode looked around, "I think you should be cold."

Mira blinked her big eyes, as if she understood what Rhode meant.

As they walked, she leaned closer to him, lifting Rhode's arm to hug herself, "This way, it's not cold."

Rhode jokingly said, "Ah, my fiancée is so clingy."

Mira laughed and nudged him, "Then let go of me."

Rhode embraced her even tighter, "No."

After a small playful exchange, Mira suddenly said, "It's been a while since we walked together just the two of us."

"Hmm…" Rhode nodded, teasingly added, "It's been five minutes since you saw your sister, do you miss her?"

Mira, slightly embarrassed, said, "Not that exaggerated."

Ever since Lisanna came back, the sisters had been very close. Mira would feel uneasy if she didn't see Lisanna for a while, doubting if it was all a dream.

Lisanna said she had been sleeping with her sister every night these days, almost getting suffocated by her a few times.

On the day Rhode took Lisanna out shopping, Mira broke two plates and a cup in a short period.

Rhode didn't know at first, it was Laki who later told him. She said it was to thank Rhode for bringing her snacks.

That day, besides feeling sorry for Mira, Rhode also felt guilty.

So he specially entrusted Erza to get a whip custom-made from the Heart-shaped Cross fashion company for Laki.

Originally, Heart-shaped Cross didn't make such products, but after Erza's earnest request, they agreed to make it.

Fortunately, in the past two days, Mira gradually believed that Lisanna had truly returned and wouldn't leave again, and returned to normal.

Lisanna, like Elfman, no longer went to work or home with her sister, often skipping evening training.

She seemed to be a rather lazy person, not pursuing great power. So she thought instead of training hard every day, she might as well enjoy her time with friends.

In the past two days, Lisanna often went to the girls' dormitory after work to hang out. Because in Edolas, she was close to Jubia, but after returning, she found that the Jubia here didn't seem to have many friends.

So Lisanna decided to spend more time with Jubia.

More importantly, she was worried that if she kept clinging to her sister, she might not become an aunt.

While playing in the girls' dorm, she heard that Alzack and Bisca had some incredible happenings…

Sister and brother-in-law are really something.
