Chapter 230: Utopia vs. Cyber Dragon
After his Onomatopaira was negated, Yūga Hōzumi retaliated with a combo that could only be described as a hellish tableau—using Zoodiac Barrage to destroy his own Performapal Fire Muffer.
After acquiring these two components, Yūga Hōzumi had spent the past two days frantically adding and removing cards, testing the limits of the Emperor's Key. He finally settled on a build with two Performapal Fire Muffers, one Trick Clown, one Damage Juggler, and a small Zoodiac engine.
Although it couldn't create a "despair board" with just two cards like Yūga Hōzumi had seen in his previous life, it was still a significant improvement for his deck.
"The effect of the destroyed Performapal Fire Muffer activates!"
"If this card on the field is destroyed by battle or card effect, I can Special Summon one 'Performapal' monster other than this card from my hand or Deck."
"Appear! Performapal Trick Clown!"
"A Zoodiac Xyz Monster can be Xyz Summoned by using one Zoodiac monster on the field as material!"
"I overlay the Zoodiac Ratpier!"
"By the power of the talisman, I call forth my companion! Xyz Summon! Rank 4! Zoodiac Hammerkong!"
On Yūga Hōzumi's field, Zoodiac Ratpier transformed into a "Zi" character rune within a special magic circle. Moments later, the character on the rune changed to "Shen," and it became a monkey warrior wielding a large hammer.
"I overlay Zoodiac Hammerkong!"
"By the power of the talisman, guide the descent of your ally! Xyz Summon! Rank 4! Zoodiac Thoroughblade!"
The recently summoned Zoodiac Hammerkong changed again; the "Shen" rune became a "Hai" character, and a pig-headed warrior wielding a longbow sprang forth.
"The effect of a Zoodiac Xyz Monster that has Zoodiac Ratpier as material activates! Once per turn, by detaching one material, I can Special Summon a second Zoodiac Ratpier from the Deck!"
"Appear! Zoodiac Ratpier!"
"I overlay the Zoodiac Thoroughblade!"
"By the power of the talisman, guide the arrival of your companion! Xyz Summon! Rank 4! Zoodiac Broadbull!"
The "Hai" rune became a "Wu" character, and a minotaur warrior wielding a giant axe appeared.
"The effect of a Zoodiac Xyz Monster with Zoodiac Ratpier as an Xyz Material activates! I detach one material to Special Summon another Zoodiac Ratpier from the Deck!"
"Appear! The third Zoodiac Ratpier!"
"Zoodiac Broadbull's own effect! I detach one Xyz Material from this card to add one Beast-Warrior monster that can be Normal Summoned from my Deck to my hand. I add Zoodiac Whiptail to my hand!"
"I overlay the Level 4 Zoodiac Ratpier and Performapal Trick Clown!"
"Descend, great sage clothed in light! Guide the arrival of hope! Xyz Summon! Rank 4! ZS - Utopic Sage!"
ZS - Utopic Sage DEF: 2500
"The effect of ZS - Utopic Sage activates!"
"By detaching two Xyz Materials from this card, I can Special Summon one 'ZW -' monster or 'ZS -' monster from my Deck."
"Appear! ZS - Ascend Sage!"
"The effect of Performapal Trick Clown, sent to the Graveyard as Xyz Material, activates! Once per turn, if this card is sent to the Graveyard, I can target one 'Performapal' monster in my Graveyard and Special Summon it. The ATK and DEF of the monster Special Summoned by this effect become 0, and then I take 1000 damage."
"Revive! Performapal Trick Clown!"
Performapal Trick Clown DEF: 1200 → 0
Yūga Hōzumi LP: 4000 → 3000
"Next, I overlay the Level 4 ZS - Ascend Sage and Performapal Trick Clown!"
Yūga Hōzumi extended his right hand, summoning a golden galaxy.
"Descend, Warrior of Hope! Xyz Summon! Rank 4! Number 39: Utopia Double!"
Number 39: Utopia Double DEF: 2500
Utopia Double descended from the light in Defense Position, its twin wings silently gathering energy.
"The effect of a 'Utopia' monster Xyz Summoned using ZS - Ascend Sage as material activates! When this card is Xyz Summoned, I add one 'Rank-Up-Magic' Spell from my Deck to my hand. I add Rank-Up-Magic Zexal Force to my hand!"
"Next! I activate the Spell Card, Xyz Treasure! For each Xyz Monster on the field, I draw a card!"
"At this moment, I activate my face-down card! The Trap Card, Cybernetic Overflow!" Seeing this, Ryo Marufuji finally made a move. He couldn't let Yūga Hōzumi draw three cards, so he activated a card in his backrow.
"I banish any number of 'Cyber Dragon' with different Levels from my hand, Graveyard, and my face-up monsters, then destroy cards on my opponent's field equal to the number of banished cards."
"I banish Cyber Dragon Core from my field and a Cyber Dragon from my hand to destroy two cards on your field!"
"At this moment, the effect of Number 39: Utopia Double activates!"
"I detach one Xyz Material from this card to add one 'Double or Nothing!' from my Deck to my hand. Then, I Xyz Summon one 'Utopia' Xyz Monster from my Extra Deck, other than this card, by using this card on the field as the material!"
After Yūga Hōzumi drew the "Double or Nothing!" automatically searched by his Duel Disk, he extended his right hand, once again summoning a glowing Xyz galaxy.
"Appear! Number S39: Utopia Prime!"
Number S39: Utopia Prime ATK: 2501 → 5002
"It's useless! Cybernetic Overflow's destruction effect doesn't target, so your monster can't escape!" Ryo Marufuji said, as the mechanical device within the Trap Card devoured Cyber Dragon Core from the field and the Cyber Dragon from his hand, then unleashed a torrent of raging lightning at the two monsters on the field.
The newly appeared Utopia Prime and ZS - Utopic Sage were both shattered by the raging lightning.
After the two monsters were destroyed, the effect of Xyz Treasure resolved, but now he could only draw one card. A huge gain had been reduced to nothing.
"But I still haven't used my Normal Summon this turn! I summon Gagaga Magician in Attack Position!" Yūga Hōzumi slapped the card he just drew onto his Duel Disk.
"I overlay Gagaga Magician and Zoodiac Ratpier!"
"Appear, Warrior of Hope! Xyz Summon! Rank 4! Number 39: Utopia!"
Brilliant starlight once again flowed through the air as the original form of Utopia arrived, treading on the celestial path.
Number 39: Utopia ATK: 2500
"I activate the effect of Zoodiac Whiptail in my hand! I target one Beast-Warrior Xyz Monster on my field, attaching this card from my hand to it as material."
"Zoodiac Broadbull's ATK increases by the combined ATK of the 'Zoodiac' monsters attached to it as material!"
Zoodiac Broadbull ATK: 0 → 1200
"Battle! Number 39: Utopia attacks Cyberdarkness Dragon!"
