Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Ning Chuan

(Signed on

"Xiao Liuzi, it's time to awaken your spirit."

At dawn, village elder Old Tom called Xiao Liuzi to awaken his spirit.

Xiao Liuzi forced his sleepy eyes open, rubbing them, forcing himself to recover as quickly as possible. He knew full well that if he didn't get up, he'd have to wait another year to awaken his spirit.

Xiao Liuzi's surname was Ning and

his given name was Chuan. His parents couldn't have come up with such a beautiful name, and he didn't have any parents. It was a name he chose for himself in his previous life.

  Yes!

He wasn't from this world, but a time traveler.

Qingjiao had one of his novels abandoned, another reportedly cut short, and the last one reportedly banned, resulting in three consecutive failures.

  Furious, he died instantly.

Reincarnated as an orphan on the Douluo Continent.

Ning Chuan wasn't called Xiao Liuzi because he was the sixth child in the family.

In reality, his parents only had one child. He

was called Little Six because he was the sixth child adopted by Old Tom, with five older siblings.

Naturally, the nickname Little Six fell on Ning Chuan.

This wasn't a problem; other children in the village were constantly addressed as "Silly Girl," "Big Head," and even "Er Gouzi." Compared to them, "Little Six" was much better. Therefore,

Ning Chuan didn't resent the name.

Ning Chuan was quite good-looking. Although his skin was tanned from frequent trips up the mountain to collect firewood and help the village chief with farm work, his features were remarkably handsome, making him one of the rare "handsome men" in the village.

Initially, he had fantasized about becoming a powerful spirit master, lifting his family out of poverty and leading a prosperous life. He'd eventually

marry a wealthy and beautiful woman, perhaps even achieve divine status.

However, as he grew older, reality quickly defeated him.

Orphaned at birth, he never even knew his parents.

Had it not been for Old Tom's adoption and the villagers' support, he would have starved to death.

But deep down, Ning Chuan harbored a dream.

It was to leave this small village and see the outside world.

Of course, Ning Chuan had never shared this idea with anyone else,

as it would surely shock the villagers.

This was a rigidly structured world ruled by spirit masters and aristocrats. To leave the village, one had to awaken their martial spirit and possess spirit power.

But aside from a Soul Emperor who emerged a hundred years ago, no one in the village had awakened their innate spirit power.

By now, Ning Chuan had regained his spirits. He quickly got up and asked, "Grandpa Tom, are the masters from the Spirit Hall here so early? I remember they didn't arrive until the afternoon last year."

"This year is different. You're the only eligible child in the village, and we couldn't burden Master Su Yuntao with a special trip. So, we arranged with Old Jack from the neighboring village to take you to their village to awaken your martial spirit together."

Old Tom was a skinny, childless man with a goatee. With six adopted children, his financial situation was somewhat tight.

Still, Ning Chuan secretly vowed to awaken his soul power, become a powerful soul master, and ultimately lift the village out of poverty and give Old Tom a better life. He'd eventually marry a wealthy and beautiful woman, perhaps even become a god, and reach the pinnacle of life.

Half an hour later, under the scorching sun, Ning Chuan, accompanied by Old Tom, arrived at the "Spirit Hall" in the center of the neighboring Holy Soul Village. The children of school age in Holy Soul Village had already gone inside to awaken their spirits. Only a slender, energetic, and neatly dressed old man waited anxiously outside.

Seeing the old man and the young man approach, he hurried over and said, "You old man, why are you so late? Master Su Yuntao's been in there for a while."

The Holy Soul Village's Spirit Hall, though called a Spirit Hall, was actually just a wooden hut with a Spirit Hall logo.

The Spirit Hall in Emperor Soul Village was much the same.

Hearing this, Old Tom didn't dare delay. He hurried forward, knocking on the door and politely saying, "Master Su Yuntao, I've brought the child."

"Old Tom, right? Since he's here, let him in," a young man's voice echoed from within the cabin.

Hearing this, Old Tom quickly gestured for Ning Chuan to come in.

Ning Chuan stepped forward, gently pushed open the door, and walked in. Besides the eight children from Holy Soul Village who were awakening their spirits, there was another young man in his twenties, dressed in a white suit.

He had sharp eyebrows and bright eyes, and was quite handsome. His clothes bore the Spirit Hall emblem.

Seeing Ning Chuan enter, he said nothing, simply motioning him to stand aside.

He himself had already completed the spirit possession, transforming into a humanoid gray wolf, and was awakening the spirit of the last child.

  "Is this the singleton spirit?"

  Ning Chuan observed curiously.

"Full innate spirit power, but what a waste spirit."

He had awakened spirits for seven children in a row, but none of them had any spirit power. Now, finally, a child with spirit power had been awakened, and it was the legendary full innate spirit power.

It was a useless spirit, the Blue Silver Grass. Su Yuntao was speechless.

But Ning Chuan's eyes narrowed slightly, because this last spirit child was no ordinary being. Besides the Blue Silver Grass in his right hand, his left hand lay behind his back, a fist clenched, as if something was suppressed.

  "Tang San?"

Ning Chuan sneered inwardly, then felt helpless. As a fan of Qing Jiao, he was naturally a staunch anti-Tang. He had fantasized about torturing Tang San and fucking his ass like the characters in Qing Jiao's novels.

But he was just an ordinary person. Even awakening his spirit power was a question, so how could he accomplish such feats?

Besides, it wasn't Tang San he hated.

It was just that he couldn't become a wallflower like Tang San.

If he was talented enough, he wouldn't mind emulating the characters in Qing Jiao's fan fiction, but without spirit power, he'd rather be content with being an ordinary person, finding a way to make some money and become a wealthy man.

  "Alright, kid, come here."

At Su Yuntao's signal, Ning Chuan walked into the awakening formation composed of six black awakening stones. As Su Yuntao poured soul power into him, he was enveloped in a golden, light red light shield.

Then, he felt as if he were in a warm world, indescribably comfortable.

The warm breath seeped into his body, and Ning Chuan vaguely felt as if something within him had broken. Then, a warm current that hadn't existed before surged within him. This current was very weak, but it was real and didn't disappear.

Finally, along with the warm breath, it surged towards his palm.

Su Yuntao's eyes lit up immediately. Before this, he had already run through six villages, but no one had awakened soul power. However, in that golden light, the golden spots that appeared this time, although not as many as Tang San, were more than the seven children before him combined. He vaguely sensed that it seemed to be a good martial spirit.
