💔 Betty: Life Mistake – Season 1
Chapter 4: Trapped Between Two Worlds
The days that followed were a living nightmare.
Every time Betty stepped outside, she felt Daniel's eyes on her — watching, waiting, reminding her of the mistake she could never undo.
He called her often. She never answered.
He showed up at her apartment once; she didn't open the door. But his words still found her — through letters, flowers, and messages she couldn't bear to read.
> "You're carrying a part of me now. You can't run forever."
The thought made her stomach twist. She wanted to scream, to disappear, to wake up and find it all undone.
But reality didn't bend for regret.
---
One evening, as Betty returned from work, Amelia met her at the door, eyes wide with worry.
> Amelia: "You're not going to believe this… Ethan's back in town."
Betty froze.
The name alone was enough to make her knees weak.
> Betty: "What? Why?"
Amelia: "He's taking on a new architectural project. A big one. Everyone's talking about it — and he asked about you."
Her heart raced painfully.
Ethan — the love she'd lost, the one she'd betrayed. The man who still haunted her dreams.
> Betty: "He asked about me?"
Amelia: "Yes. Said he wanted to talk. I didn't tell him anything… about the baby."
Betty sank onto the couch, pressing her hand against her stomach. Her secret was growing — literally and figuratively. And now, the one person she didn't want to lie to was back.
---
Two days later, fate cornered her again.
Betty was at a café, sketchbook open, when she heard a familiar voice.
> "Betty?"
Her breath caught.
She looked up — and there he was. Ethan Cole.
He looked different, more mature, but those deep brown eyes were the same — eyes that once saw her as his forever.
> Ethan: "You look… different."
Betty (softly): "So do you."
The silence that followed was heavy, filled with everything they didn't know how to say.
> Ethan: "I shouldn't be here. But I couldn't just pretend you don't exist."
Betty: "Ethan, I—"
Ethan (cutting her off): "Why, Betty? Why did you do it?"
Her throat tightened. She'd waited months for this moment, but now the truth was too dangerous.
> Betty: "Because I thought I lost you. Because I was weak."
Ethan sighed, running a hand through his hair.
> Ethan: "We were both broken. I just didn't think you'd… move on that fast."
Tears burned her eyes, but she forced a smile.
> Betty: "It wasn't love, Ethan. It was a mistake."
He looked at her, confusion flickering behind the hurt.
> Ethan: "Then let's start over."
Her breath hitched.
> Betty: "What?"
Ethan: "I never stopped loving you, Betty. I just stopped trying to."
Her heart shattered all over again — because she wanted to say yes. She wanted to run back into his arms.
But between them stood a truth she couldn't hide forever — a truth growing inside her with every heartbeat.
---
That night, Betty couldn't sleep. She walked the apartment floor restlessly, torn between two worlds — the love she still wanted and the life she couldn't escape.
Then came a knock on her door.
Slow. Cold. Familiar.
She opened it, and her blood ran cold.
Daniel.
> Daniel: "I told you we weren't done."
He stepped closer, his gaze falling to her stomach.
> Daniel (smirking): "You've been busy… seeing old lovers, huh? Does he know?"
> Betty (angrily): "Stay away from me, Daniel. I mean it."
Daniel: "You think you can hide my child? No, sweetheart. This is my business too."
> Betty: "This baby isn't a business. It's my life. And you lost the right to be part of it the night you lied to me."
His expression darkened.
> Daniel: "You'll regret saying that."
He left, slamming the door behind him — but the echo of his threat stayed behind, curling in the air like smoke.
Betty sank to her knees, trembling.
She knew then — she wasn't just trapped by her past anymore.
She was being hunted by it.
