Chase's POV
"Did you see how satisfied she looked?" Hillary's voice cracked with rage as she pressed her face into the pillow, her body trembling on the bed. The fresh welts across her back made every movement agony, but her fury burned far hotter than any physical pain. "She had the expression of someone who enjoyed crushing us under her heel, Father. She wanted to destroy our family's reputation."
Chase kept his face neutral, studying his daughter's seething form.
"You have to make that woman pay for what she did to me," Hillary demanded, her knuckles white as she gripped the bedsheets. "You cannot let her walk away from this humiliation."
Chase crossed his arms, his voice calm and measured. "What exactly do you expect me to do about it?"
