Faye's POV
We had barely covered half the distance to the northern outpost when Hardy's eyelids flew open without warning.
Something felt different this time. Wrong.
"Allen, restrain him," I commanded sharply.
The instant his eyes opened, Hardy launched himself at Allen with explosive force. The entire carriage shuddered from the collision. I seized his arm, channeling my power into his body, desperate to suppress whatever was surging through him. Instead of subduing him, my touch seemed to amplify his strength.
Allen fought to hold him back, wrapping his arms around Hardy's shoulders from behind. "My Lady," he gasped, his voice strained as Hardy pushed against his restraint, "I cannot—"
