Chapter 6 - Chapter 6- I would follow you

Five years passed, and Sam was finally old enough to attend school. As he and Carrie sat by the door, she said lovingly, "Come on, Sammie, it's time for school." Sam crossed his arms stubbornly and protested, "I don't want to go." Carrie attempted to persuade him, saying, "It might be enjoyable, and Diska is already there." After an extensive and near-argumentative discussion, Sam finally agreed to attend school.

As Sam's mom dropped him off at school, he entered his classroom and noticed the gazes of his classmates. Among them, a group of girls caught his attention, including a petite boy with cute features. The group consisted of a girl with purple hair and a boyish appearance, two blonde girls, and a boy with dark brown hair. Sam chose to sit in the chair next to the dark-haired boy.

Upon the teacher's arrival, they promptly began to take attendance. Throughout the roll call, a boy sitting next to Sam couldn't take his eyes off him, his gaze filled with a glimmering fascination. The teacher addressed him, "Mr. Smith." "Here," the boy replied, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "Pay attention," the teacher chided. Sam, with a hint of mischief in his smile, defended the boy, "Don't scold him. We're just kids. It's natural to get distracted." The teacher's expression hardened. "Mr. Denver, I believe. I'll have to have a word with your mother about this," she said, making a note in her notebook.

In their elementary school years, there was a boy with the last name Smith who constantly observed Sam, a boy who seemed to find himself in near-death situations on multiple occasions. Despite saving Sam's life several times, Smith remained anonymous to him. They shared classes throughout elementary school, yet Sam remained unaware of his name

Within a loving family unit, resided two twin brothers: Devin and Death. Sharing the middle name of Angel, their distinct personalities set them apart. While Devin consistently strived to be a virtuous individual, it was Death who frequently found himself in precarious situations. Their mother, a florist by profession, poured her heart into caring for her children. Their father, a dedicated police officer, worked tirelessly to protect the community and provide for his family. The parents' love for their children shone brightly, enveloping them in a warm and nurturing environment.

Three friends, Devin, and two sisters, became close to Sam. Despite being around him, Sam's lack of observation skills meant he didn't notice their presence. Devin, particularly, cherished the closeness he had always desired with Sam. They spent countless hours playing at Sam's house before returning home before dark, considering the long walk the sisters had. Devin's residence was relatively near the school, requiring only a short walk. The last house before the school belonged to the Smith family..

In the daytime his mother could be seen watering her garden outside. His father was very busy all the time but Devin knew he was saving lifes.catching criminals and making sure they could not do anything else bad. His brother was always causing some kind of mischief.

Year later

During middle school, the team was tight-knit, like an inseparable unit. However, Sam was getting sidetracked and always seemed sad. Devin tried to comfort him, but Sam wasn't receptive. Devin felt almost certain that Sam would never open up to him.

Despite being in love with Sam, he acknowledged that others might disapprove. Unfazed, he resolved to express his feelings once they graduated from middle school, believing that then, no one could dismiss him as a child. His friends concurred.

At the age of twelve, Devin observed a significant shift in Sam's demeanor. The once jovial Sam had transformed into a withdrawn and despondent individual. Concerned, Devin attempted to approach Sam to understand the underlying cause of this change, but Sam brushed off his efforts, urging him not to be concerned.

Amidst the darkness, Devin perceived distant flames, stirring a sense of unease within him. As he approached, he could discern the horrifying screams emanating from the conflagration. Barely clad in a tee shirt, he sprinted with all his might towards Sam's residence. The sight that greeted him there was a devastating spectacle. Sam's house had been reduced to smoldering ashes, leaving nothing intact. Devin sank to his knees, tears streaming down his face as he mourned the loss of his friend and the unfulfilled desire to grow closer to them. The weight of this tragedy bore down heavily upon him.

With tears in his eyes, Devin could barely make out a figure that resembled Sam, walking down the street with scorched clothes. The street was oddly divided, one side was plunged into darkness while the other was brightly illuminated. Devin attempted to get up, but his efforts were futile. Suddenly, two angelic figures appeared before Devin. In a desperate cry, Devin exclaimed, "No, Sam!" At that moment, he found the strength to stand.

Devin raced towards Sam, but it was futile; he had already disappeared. A locket and a bracelet lay on the ground as the only remnants of Sam's presence. Devin, overcome with emotions, picked up the items while tears cascaded down his face. A sense of unease washed over him, leaving him with the realization that something was amiss. Devin let out a despairing cry, his voice echoing with anguish, as tears streamed down his face.

High school

Once life returned to normal and Devin had lost all of his friends, he was no longer concerned about Sam. He realized that this was not the same kind and caring Sam he once knew, and he accepted that "that Sam" was gone. Despite this, Devin still secretly hoped that Sam would somehow choose him again.

However, this did bother him. Sam crashed Devin's car and went out with these guys who abused him. Even with Devin's brother's death, he continued to go out with him. This caused great pain for Devin, and he went home crying upon discovering that the guy he loved preferred to spend time with his brother. Despite wanting to be there for Sam, he was rejected repeatedly.

Adult

On a hot day, Devin sat riverside, dipping his feet in the cool water. Nearby, Sam approached, having recently been forced into marriage with a woman named Liz. As Sam approached Devin, he spoke, "How could I have been so blind? You are the most handsome man I've ever met. Death revealed everything to me after our breakup, explaining how he lied and that you were the one destined to save me when I needed help. I apologize for my mistake in thinking it was your brother. Forgive me for my density in not seeing it was you," Sam said, sitting down beside Devin.

Of course, Devin forgave Sam. Soon after, they got married. Moreover, Devin also married Michelle and Izzy Heart. Devin is an extremely loyal person and would never abandon Sam, no matter how evil he may be.
