Chapter 4 - A Furious Son

"Enough of that. I will not put up with that from either of you." George flared up.

He took no exception while berating Katrina and Conor. He didn't even consider the fact that Conor is his son.

"What the devil are you two doing, for heaven's sake? You could not even recognize us.

Have you suddenly stopped respecting us?" He continued to scream at them as though they were kids.

"Give me a break, Father.

On which side are you? I am shocked that you would say this to me.

She insulted me in front of you. Why did you not take action?" Conor was upset with his dad. With George's decision, he could hardly hide his frustration.

Conor believed he should have some sort of benefits as his father's son, but his father denied him these.

"Conor, stop talking. I had a gut feeling you would speak first." George clapped back.

"I would never support an irrational attitude." He slammed the desk in frustration m

That did not take George too long. He seems to have been waiting for this chance to publicly humiliate Conor, and now he has it.

"Dad. Seriously?

Will we do this now?

For once in your life, can't you even act as though you like me?" Conor chuckled.

"Since you do not treat me like your biological son, I do occasionally question whether I am.

I now wish I had been adopted. In any event, what difference does it make?" Just when it looked like the drama was over, Conor added.

"Well, it is never too late. We can still make arrangements for that.

It is much more interesting because I still have another son." George laughed.

He insulted Conor in front of Katrina and her father, saying, "Believe me when I say you will not be missed."

George enjoyed it.

His face was etched with it.

Even if it meant changing Conor's life and making him a better person, he would not mind doing that a thousand times if given the chance.

"It is all right, friend. Let us avoid giving this much thought.

He does not need to be treated that way by you. He is a grown man, after all." Kelly chimed in and stood up for Conor.

Nobody, not even Katrina, who remained silent the entire time, anticipated this.

She simply watched the events unfold. She certainly had a lot on her mind.

But none of them made sense.

Here, it might end up being worse than what Conor said if it were spoken.

"No, Kelly. You do not seem to understand. I am aware of what I am discussing.

I am not even attempting to hide the fact that my son is a jerk. It is a known fact, after all. Blind people are aware of that." George chastised his best friend for defending Conor.

Kelly's disparaging comments were not going to alter George's feelings for Conor.

"If nothing else, someone has more faith in me than my biological father does." Conor praised Kelly just to spite his father.

"However, I never asked him to help me. I am capable enough to fight my battles," Conor said concisely, glancing sideways and looking.

Kelly was clearly the target, even though he did not use profanity.

"All right. So that is it.

I might have been wrong. Perhaps your dad ought to put you down," Kelly sparked wildly.

He was sorry he had ever stood up for Conor. His defence of someone who does not even care about him has made him appear foolish.

"I informed you, friend.

I am sorry you did not pay attention to me. Because it is not worth it. Defending Conor will only make you appear foolish." George defended the claim that Conor would definitely act messily.

He was damn sure about Conor's next move even before they were being processed.

.

George was going to come clean about warning Kelly about the dangers of backing Conor, even though he detested the disrespectful way Conor treated him.

Conor sighed.

Without blinking, he turned to face his father. "I want to stop talking about this.

I do not believe I am needed here. I can see that I was brought here to be humiliated in front of your pitiful daughter and miserable friend."

"How dare you talk to me?" George got up and slapped Conor's chin thunderously in response.

When Kelly intervened, George was about to punch Conor in the face.

"George, do not do this. You are allowing your feelings to rule you. Give it up."

"Your statement was more than adequately conveyed by the slap. You don't need to strike him in the face once more."

While holding George tightly, Kelly suggested, "I think he learned the hard way."

Kelly could see that George was getting so furious. He won't be surprised to see George striking Conor with a heavy object.

"Would you dare to slap me across the face in front of these peasants?

How could you harm your son like this?" Conor rubbed his red chin and sobbed.

Conor's right chin was shaped like George's palm. George's aim was flawless, as was evident.

"Yes, I did. Do I feel proud of what I accomplished? Yes, definitely." George owned up to his actions without feeling any remorse. He'd be willing to do that a thousand times again.

"And if you do not stop talking, I will do that once more.

Son, why have you decided to humiliate me in this manner?" George rumbled.

George did not look like he was going to give up anytime soon.

He had such a frightening face.

Not only that, but when he screamed, his veins protruded from his neck.

His constant shouting has caused his face to abruptly change from white to pink.

"Do not hear him. It is a trick. This is not as intelligent as you are." Kelly pleaded.

"I do not want to think that you want to fall for it." Knowing what his friend was capable of, he did everything in his power to keep George from getting away with it.

"Stop wasting my time with nonsense. I will no longer put up with your nonsense.

Should I ignore him while he keeps insulting me?

At this moment, are you even paying attention to yourself? Conor is the one who needs to shut up, not me." George slammed Kelly.
