«I haven't seen him for an hour and I already miss him like crazy… being in love is such a pain!» Eliss grumbles, stepping out of the local city hall with her brand-new My Number Card safely tucked inside her purse.
But why would a demon princess even need one? Simple — she learned the hard way that you can't get a phone plan without it. And if she wants to stay in touch with her beloved Aoshi even when they're apart, she has no choice.
On top of that, her boss, Gorō Tobita, told her she can't keep working at the Moonlight Club without a bank account to receive her pay.
Of course, getting a My Number or a Residence Card when you come from another world can be… complicated. So she decided to use her succubus magic to make the clerk hand over the document — though this time, everything went way too smoothly.
And that only made her even more suspicious.
«Why did it work this time, but not with Aoshi? I thought something in this world was interfering with my powers… but they seem to work just fine. Why everyone else but him? I don't get it…»
She's been asking herself this question ever since she stepped out of the city hall.
Ever since she tried to charm Aoshi, this is the first time she's used her magic again — carefully, sparingly, and only when absolutely necessary, just to avoid causing any more trouble.
She's wandering aimlessly through downtown Ueda, when...
«It's only been a few days, and yet it feels like a lifetime, Princess Eliss,» a deep, warm voice calls from behind her.
She freezes the instant that familiar sound reaches her ears — her eyes instantly well up with tears of joy. She spins around to find a man of extraordinary beauty standing there — tall, well-built, with long, perfectly kept black hair.
«R-Raelor!» Eliss cries, happier than she's ever been. She runs toward him and throws herself straight into his arms.
«Raelor, my dearest, sweetest Raelor! I never thought I'd say this, but… I'm so happy to see you! I always knew you couldn't live without me, that you'd come to rescue me sooner or later!» Eliss sobs, tears streaming down her face like rivers.
But not even a second later, Eliss starts sniffing him like a sniffer dog at an airport checking a suspicious suitcase.
«Raelor… what's this smell? Is that... women's perfume? Since when did you start those kinds of habits?» she grumbles.
«Oh, that?» Raelor replies with a faint smirk. «It's not mine — one of the human women I had fun with last night must've left it on me. Can't really say which of the four, though. Apparently, that rumor in Ravessia about succubi and incubi having an irresistible allure to humans is pretty accurate. I might actually consider settling down here.»
Eliss isn't the least bit surprised by his conquests — just like her, Raelor is blessed with a beauty far beyond anything even their world has to offer.
«And what about you, Princess Eliss? Did you finally get the thrill you were craving, or did the humans fall at your feet before you even said a word?» Raelor teases.
«About that… there's something I need to tell you…» Eliss blushes instantly. Her voice cracks, and then she bursts into a desperate, uncontrollable sob.
«I fell in love with an idiot, that's what happened! I don't even know how! I met this guy the night I got here — the first and only one who didn't drool all over me like a fool. He actually ignored me! So I used my charm magic to make him fall for me, but somehow it backfired… and now I'm the one who's completely insane for him! When I'm not with him, I feel totally empty — like I just lose the will to live! And then… I get wet every time we even brush against each other! Look for yourself if you don't believe me!»
Eliss lifts her skirt slightly, showing Raelor the damp mess soaking her panties and inner thighs. It's a rather questionable gesture, but between them, it's nothing new. Having grown up together only two years apart, they're more like best friends — or even siblings.
«It's like every suppressed hormone in my body just exploded at once! And that's not even the worst part — I couldn't stop myself from telling that guy who I really am and why I'm so attached to him. And guess what? He actually agreed to let me stay at his place until I figure out how to fix this mess! But here's the craziest part!»
Eliss throws her hands in the air, completely exasperated. «No matter how hard I try to seduce him, he hasn't budged an inch! I can feel the desire burning inside him — I know that if I were really his girlfriend, if there were genuine love between us, he'd jump on me in a heartbeat… but he hasn't! Not even a quick grope! Help me, please… I'm so desperate! You're the strongest incubus of them all — I know you can break the charm that binds me to him like it's nothing. Please, pleeease, I'm begging you!» Eliss pleads, clutching his sleeve with trembling hands.
«Of course I can,» Raelor replies calmly. He places a gentle hand on her head, gives her a faint smile, and then...
«...but I won't.»
A sharp, cold, merciless no — one that shatters Eliss's hope and plunges her into utter despair.
«Why?! Why?! Why do you have to be so mean!» Eliss cries, pounding weakly against his chest like a spoiled child throwing a tantrum.
«King Azhelar was furious after your little runaway stunt,» Raelor explains. «He ordered me to come here only to watch over you and make sure you stay safe. As punishment for acting on your own again, he's decided to keep you confined in the human world until further notice. His exact words were: "Next time, my daughter will think ten times before acting on impulse and disobeying me". If I helped you fix this mess, I'd be breaking a direct order from the King.» He shrugs lightly. «So, sorry, Princess — you'll have to deal with it on your own until your father decides you've suffered enough. Knowing him, that could take months… so you'd better start getting used to this world.»
«Y-You can't be serious…» Eliss murmurs, her eyes wide and glistening. She gives him her best pleading look, but it's useless — Raelor turns his back on her without hesitation.
«You have nothing to fear, Princess Eliss,» he says. «Nothing will ever happen to endanger your safety — I swear it on my honor as your bodyguard. Even if you can't see me, I'll always be watching over you. But that's all I'll do. Now, if you'll excuse me, there's a lovely young lady waiting for a certain incubus to show up, and I'm already late. Good luck, Princess.»
So much for always watching over me...
Eliss doesn't even bother arguing. She knows perfectly well that Raelor would never disobey a direct royal order — not even under torture.
«I hope you fail miserably, you jerk…» she mutters under her breath, letting out a long, defeated sigh.
Ugh… Aoshi… why do you always have to go to university instead of staying home with me? It's not fair… Damn it, it's only eleven, and classes don't end until four… How am I supposed to survive another five hours without him? That's way too long…
