Lana cleaned up the kitchen, completed her nightly routine and climbed into bed secure in the knowledge that her brother was now studying the next level book. She was also overly excited that Mister Hunk had been in her room and touched her bathroom faucet! She slept soundly once again with a smile on her face.
The next morning, Dobin had circles under his eyes. He had been up late studying his book. He didn't know where his sister got it, but he wanted to learn it before they got caught.
In the canteen, the friends were all sitting together one table over from Quinn and Vorden. The boy who usually sat with them was sitting with higher levels which made Lana worried a bit, though she didn't know why. Suddenly a girl sat with them, the same one she saw with Quinn in the library. Lana heard her call Vorden crazy and heard nothing after that. Her blood started to boil, and she started to get out of her seat but Dobin pulled her back down into it.
"What is wrong with you? You don't even know that guy!"
Lana got a little pouty, "But I'd like to know him," she said under her breath and hid her face. She didn't want anyone to know she liked the guy. He was really special and she wanted to learn more about him before anyone knew about her interest in him. If he even allowed her to.
On Friday morning, combat classes were in the morning and there were no afternoon classes. Lana was excited and nervous because this would be the first day with Dr. Hayley in her clinic. She was a bit more nervous than normal. This was an adult and she was hiding some of her ability. She would need to be careful and stick strictly to the healing aspect. After breakfast, they all split ways to head to their respective classes. Lana took a deep breath and looked for Dr. Hayley in the clinic.
Throughout the period, multiple injuries came in. Students with burns, broken bones, even a student who tried to transfigure himself and made a mistake. He was part rhinoceros and part boy. Lana passed on helping him and treated the easy stuff. She realized at the end of the period, the length of time it took her had decreased a small bit and it didn't require as much concentration as it used to. Before long, class time was over and it was lunch time. They had already planned for the team to eat in the canteen. She wanted to swing from her tree for a bit but would handle dinner.
She wore her workout gear under her uniform like she usually did in case she got the desire to "play" and stripped of the uniform as soon as she got under the willow. She had just gotten in the tree when her watch went off.
Lana, some second-years came and got us from Beast Weapons class and took us to the Assembly Hall. It looks like our sister class is here as well. I don't know what's going on!
It was Kattie Bree.
Lana knew Quinn was in both of those classes and decided to draw some blood from herself just in case. She had "borrowed" some supplies from the clinic in case they were ever needed. She then grabbed a pot filled with dirt and some energy bars she had made last night. She didn't know if they did what she wanted them to do. She was planning on having everyone try them at dinner tonight but thought they might be needed.
As she was grabbing things:
Lana, the blond boy at breakfast. He's hurt. They are making us hurt him even more!
As she stepped out of her tree, she saw that boy she assumed was Peter, the one who sat with them at breakfast, running. She looked around to see if there were any second-year students she would need to contend with. Once she was satisfied, she ran to the Assembly Hall. The boy and an adult she had never seen before got there before her so she just waited outside. She had placed the vial of blood in the pot so it would not draw attention. She saw students coming out and eventually saw Quinn and Vorden come out together, aiming in the direction of Dr. Hayley's office.
Lana ran up to them and slipped the vial to Quinn. She then handed him an energy bar. "I don't know if you eat these or not, but please take it and try it." Quinn had a shocked look on his face and slid the blood in his pocket while he ate. Lana looked at Vorden. His hand was chopped off and he was carrying it in his other hand. She could see he was using his ability to keep from bleeding everywhere. She looked over at Quinn and he had a free hand. She quickly grew a plant to help with the pain. She couldn't do anything with that type of blood problem.
"Quinn, hold this pot," as she held it behind Vorden's back. With one hand she held the plant to his exposed neck. With the other she fed him the energy bar. Quinn was looking extremely confused. Vorden was learning to roll with this crazy girl. "Walk faster if you can but don't run."
As the trio headed straight for their destination, they started hearing cat calls. Lana looked around and was having trouble concentrating. "You have to be fucking kidding me… Do these assholes have nothing better to do!" She shoved the last of the energy bar into Vorden's mouth. "Keep going."
She stopped and suddenly green vines rose from the ground and surrounded her. She then ran to catch up to the boys and resumed her administration of pain meds.
She heard "What the?" from Quinn's mouth but she ignored it seeing it was aimed at her. She needed to concentrate. They finally got to Dr. Hayley and Lana was surprised the doctor wasn't busy. Apparently, the others weren't injured enough to require assistance from her.
The doctor patched the boys up good as new then asked Lana to stay a moment longer. As they left, Dr. Hayley asked, "are you sure you don't want to take combat lessons? I really feel you should have some for these portal outings."
Lana nodded, "I need the information I'm gaining through my current studies. I can't grow in combat unless I can visualize the plants."
The doctor nodded. "See you next Friday?"
Lana nodded and left the building.
Just outside she was met with a dark, curly-haired boy who was obviously waiting for her. He took her around the side of the building so they were not so easily observed. He took the vial out of his pocket, "Why did you give me this?"
