Chapter 129 - Chapter 129 – Back at the Crows

They needed more light below. Lana then bought the two wardrobes. The light problem would need to wait. Lana cooked lunch, ate then took a nap while Dobin did his thing. He left the light things for her so she would feel like she was helping even though these houses were a lot of help.

She woke up two hours later and did the same thing. She took out 4 dumping baits and put in two more houses. She placed her signs and realized she was not as tired after building these two. She was getting stronger. She did the light lifting and was shocked how quickly Dobin was outfitting these houses. She guessed he was getting quite experienced at this point. Having the carts to move the furniture to the new houses helped a lot.

They still had one more full day and a half day the next day. She realized she needed to call Logan tonight and decided now would be best. She wanted to make two more houses tonight before bed. She updated him on how things were going, Dobin being attacked, the lack of light issue, the plumbing, what to do about that. He said he would think on things and see what he could come up with. He was able to come up with a lighting system pretty easy as there was something in the archives his family had kept for centuries but he would get back with her on how to implement it because it was simple technology but mathematically complicated. The plumbing had to wait until they knew how much water they had.

The call didn't really last long and she did most of the talking. Once they were done, she cooked dinner and informed Dobin his food was waiting for him after she had eaten and was heading to make houses 7 and 8, signs in hand. That night she collapsed into bed and didn't wake up the next day until lunch time. She got up. Cooked, ate, informed, Dobin and so on. By the time she went to bed, row A had 10 houses and B and C were started.

Dobin had switched things up a bit. He was putting things in the houses before setting anything else up. He wanted to make sure rain water would not get anything wet while they were gone. Lana had to buy the furniture for B and C as well as 2B, which would be Kattie and Almin's house providing they stayed together and Lana's hunch was correct. She helped Dobin move things even though that made him unhappy. He could set things up while she was working in Almin and Katti's house in the morning and part of the afternoon but with the rotations of the two planets, they could not stay all day tomorrow.

To make things easier, Dobin put a grate on every hole around the outside of the shelter as well as those inside. He'd deal with all those others at a later time. They had other priorities right now.

Lana slept well that last night there but was up bright and early. Her plan for the 40-foot houses was the even number would be a 3-bedroom with one down stairs, two upstairs with a bathroom with a tub on both floors. The floor plan on the bottom would be the bathroom and Super kitchen then the master bedroom on the one side of the entry, living and dining room on the other side. Lana was also turning the houses just so. She didn't want everyone to be able to see into the houses of their neighbors when they opened their own doors. The main floor would be the same in all the 40-foot houses. The second floor is what would change. The 4-bedroom houses would have a small shower and a toilet. She had yet to figure out where to squeeze in a sink in the smaller rooms. She did have closets in all the rooms in both models.

It took an hour to build the house. She had the outer branches linked to 1B, 1A, and 2A. It would reach 1C as well but she wanted to put another 40-footer near C as well as going along to A so she'd do those links when they returned. She hung a sign outside 2B that said Kattie and Almin. She hung another sign on 1B that said Alto and Duff. That way all 7 of them would be near each other for now. They could move their signs if they changed houses. Lana and Dobin made sure the houses of their friends were set up before they left. They ate one last time, finishing off all the food they brought with them as well as the food she grew. She gave the trees her lockdown command to ensure no beast gets in while they were gone. As they lifted off, they both admired their handiwork.

Lana laid back down on the bed with Caser nearby and slept all the way back. The only things they brought back were the empty trunks, the empty bag and a few changes of clothes for Dobin since Lana lived in her beast clothes. It was midnight when they landed. Dobin woke Lana to carry the stuff into their room and sent the ship back to Quinn's ship. They didn't even put them any where. They just dropped them in the living area. Shalt wasn't asleep and offered to stow them in her room for her. She sleepily nodded and went to bed and was out in moments.

The next morning, they met up with their team in their apartment and gave a quick recap. They would spend three days hunting here and then head back as a team. Dobin would go out today while Shalt would stay in the shelter with Lana.

They all went to the daily briefing. Once everyone was gone, they went to see Blip and invited Nate and Sam to come along for this meeting.

Lana knocked on Blip's door. He looked fed up, like he was getting ready to throw something against the wall.
