The next day at breakfast, Kris and Hans approached her when she entered after building another 80-foot house, "we'd like to apologize. The Eagles didn't appreciate us and that last faction was just rude. We were rather… rude… to you yesterday. This place in simply incredible!" Kris gave Lana a huge hug and thanked her again. "The kids have sung nothing but your praises and told us everything you and your people have done to take care of them."
Lana smiled, "I feel like I'm building a community, not a business. We are here to take care of each other. Please, get your breakfast and don't forget I need that list. I plan to build my house today but I will get your things right after."
They smiled and promptly sat down to eat.
Lana was told to sit by Tania and soon a plate heaping with food was placed in front of her with a wink. She looked at Dobin who also winked. She knew. Lana sighed but she wasn't going to allow this plate of food to wait for her. Soon she was done.
One of the kids asked if she was really going to build her house right now and Lana realized literally everyone was still sitting there looking at her.
Lana chuckled, "sure, you can watch. I still can't believe I'm making something so lavish for myself." She threw a dagger with her eyes at Shalt. She did admit she had no idea how many kids she and Sil would have so a big house was prudent.
She found her designated spot, put out the required saplings and got ready. This floor plan was a bit different than what she had been using. There were still two exits but one was going to have a room in front of it. It was Shalt's. As you enter the main entrance, the master suite was to the left. While it didn't take half the floor, it did take quite a bit. From near the entrance, the master suite contained a nursery, her room with a closet for two, then the bathroom. Shalt had a separate room at the other exit then there was the bathroom. The kitchen was next along the wall. The dining area was in the middle with the living area to the right of the entrance. Upstairs were five bedrooms, each with a closet. Along with two more bathrooms. All four bathrooms had tubs. One of the bedrooms upstairs had a bunk bed since she was carrying twins. There was a twin-sized bed in the nursery and Shalt's room. Double beds in the rooms upstairs and Lana would have a king-sized, 4-poster bed.
Having the whole thing visualized, she sat down and sent the image to her trees. She heard the oohs and ahs as her home was being built but she blocked them out to focus. The trees let her know it was done and she had no idea how much time had passed. The other 100-foot designs were easier for her. The library was being saved for last because she wanted it to be really special as well. However, it would be done this evening because she wanted the kids to be able to have all the things they needed for school.
Kris came up to her quickly, "Shalt is so lucky to be married to you!"
Lana laughed, "Shalt is not my husband, he's my guard. My husband is away for now."
She looked over at him. "Want to set up the furniture?"
Shalt nodded, "then I'll get our things from Dobin's house.
Lana went to the command post to purchase her furniture. She was there a while but the whole shelter banded together to put together her house. It was together in 2 hours. Shalt packed their things and brought them over but didn't unpack. He wanted her to enjoy moving into her new home. Lana grinned when she saw the interior. The tree had even lowered a branch so she would have a chandelier over the dining table. It just needed light crystals.
She stepped outside, without unpacking, and thanked everyone. She promised a celebration once the shelter was completed. She then clapped her hands, "back to work everyone!" with a smile.
"Oh wait! Before you depart… Come with me please." She took them over to 4F which was the first 80-foot house she built. These still had no furniture in them. This was where she had that initial push of clothing, area rugs and a whole bunch of other stuff. "This stuff in here is up for grabs as well. Now that you all have permanent homes, I want all this stuff gone. Choose among ourselves who gets what, then get back to work," she smiled broadly then went to unpack.
Shalt didn't have much so his unpacking was quick. He had some clothing, his ability book, his trunk of personal effects from his former home and his sunglasses. He popped in to see how Lana was faring at unpacking to find tears running down her cheeks. She was unpacking the dresses and outfits that she wore for Sil as well as the outfits he and Vorden picked out for her. Her maternity clothes she bought at the earth station were already hanging up. She missed her husband greatly but was able to hide it because she was so busy but the sparks of memory brought back his absence full force. She decided these things needed to go in the back of her closet, especially the outfit she kept for him. Though, she couldn't help but smile remembering what he looked like in it. She couldn't burst into tears every time she opened her closet. She would need to buy him more clothes as well. Maybe even buy some for his room on the ship. She would see to that once she went back to the Crow's planet.
Shalt wanted to ask if there was something wrong with her clothes but he saw her hide them in the back and decided not to say anything. He wasn't sure if it was human females or all females but they were strange.
She wiped her face and saw Shalt watching her. She smiled, "time to go build a library!"
The library was going to have the same floor plan upstairs as her own house only instead of bedrooms, they would be classrooms. The middle would be open with a nice rug in the circular center. The classrooms would not get rugs unlike each of her bedrooms. Each classroom was to be dedicated to a specific subject: math, history, language, science, and technology. The books on these subjects would be stored in these rooms.
The library would have a huge rug in the middle with tables and chairs and a few couches for sitting and reading. The stairs would go up straight with walls on each side to line with bookshelves. The circle wall would be covered with bookshelves and there would be walls added for this purpose as well but not too close in. It was to have a "comfort of home" atmosphere. The main library would have other subjects such as believe systems, cooking, arts and crafts, abilities, and more.
To make things easier, Lana ordered all the books for the rooms upstairs first and by subject. So, all the math books, then the history books and so on. She told Shalt to just place the boxes in the rooms for now and they would arrange them later. Doing it this way could keep it organized so there would be less time needed to arrange the books. Nina volunteered to arrange the books in the classrooms. She was shocked at all the things Lana purchased and realized just what emphasis the Family leader put on education. She decided once the rooms were set, she would double her efforts to educate these kids. She now understood with Lana as their leader, their future would be interesting indeed.
