Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 Overlord of the Old Times

The two men buried the dead Miss Buckin on a sunny hillside covered with white daisies. Of course, Logan did all the talking, while Weevil did all the work alone.

Watching Weevil use his naginata to smash hard stone into a tombstone like tofu, Logan couldn't help but sigh that this cheap "brother" he had picked up for free was really amazing! He was worthy of being said to have the strength of Whitebeard in his youth.

Weevil sat in front of the tombstone. He was illiterate and could only use a knife to carefully carve the words that Logan had written on it in advance.

He carved every stroke very carefully, secretly wiping away tears while carving, like a child being forced by a teacher to copy lines.

After the tombstone was carved, Logan put three cigarettes in front of it, bowed with Weevil, and advised:

"Okay, don't be sad, Weevil. Mommy will be watching you from heaven. You have to let her see that you are happy so she can reincarnate in peace."

"Okay, Brother Gill, I won't cry. I'm the one that makes Mommy feel most at ease."

Weevil wiped his tears, sniffed his nose, and answered with a firm look in his eyes.

Hearing the name Gill again, Logan looked at the rising white smoke and muttered softly:

"Logan, Rocks D. Gill… is there a divine will in all this? Fine, as a token of my gratitude for raising this body, from now on my name will be Logan D. Gill!"

As they walked further away, Gill's expression turned gloomy:

"Hmph, you damned old woman! If it weren't for the fact that you left me a precious little brother, I would have thrown you into the sea to feed the fish, Buckin!"

Others may not know what the words Rocks D. stand for, but as a time traveler, how could Gill not know?

Before he died, Rocks D. Xebec told a few-year-old child his name—but whether Buckin had bad intentions when passing on the name, or was just really stupid, Gill couldn't tell.

The only thing that is certain is that if Gill were foolish enough to appear on the seas openly with this name, he would be killed immediately.

The Rocks Pirates—Captain: Rocks D. Xebec—had a huge ambition to overthrow the World Government and become King of the World. He was the overlord of the seas before Roger became famous, and he dominated the entire ocean with overwhelming strength. Unlike Roger's crew, who were called the Pirate King's crew for reaching the last island, Rocks's crew were remembered as monsters who challenged the world itself.

Although the Roger Pirates were powerful, they still had equally powerful opponents such as Whitebeard and Golden Lion at the same time—while the Rocks Pirates could directly challenge the World Government itself!

The crew lineup of the Rocks Pirates was ridiculously strong. In addition to Captain Rocks, the known members included Edward Newgate (Whitebeard), Shiki the Golden Lion, Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom), Kaido, Silver Axe, Captain John, Ochoku, and others.

The World Government tried their best to hide the existence of the Rocks Pirates because they were a group of true lunatics—a crew that even dared to kill Celestial Dragons! Compared to Roger, Rocks's actions shook the Government's rule even more and made them panic.

So, could the World Government and the Navy allow another "Rocks" to appear?

No matter whether you are truly his bloodline or not, the World Government's logic was clear: better to kill by mistake than let you live!

To eliminate the possibility of Roger's bloodline, they slaughtered countless babies and pregnant women of childbearing age—simply because they happened to be on an island Roger once visited before surrendering himself! If the timing of conception matched, that was enough to condemn them.

If Roger knew about this in the afterlife, he would cry out for justice: Damn World Government, I was the Pirate King, not the Sea King!

Even if Gill manages to survive, he will most likely have a dark childhood worth remembering, just like Nico Robin—death and betrayal always following him.

But unlike Robin, Gill has one difference: he has a super bodyguard he can completely trust—his foolish but loyal brother, Edward Weevil!

As for Buckin, the woman in the original story is shown to have no bottom line in her schemes and only thinks about her own benefit. It is really not surprising that Gill would think badly of her.

It was very likely that Weevil and even Gill were just tools in Miss Buckin's hands. Even before her death, she was still scheming—dreaming of using the two of them to stir up chaos across the seas. Whether the two would live or die in the process probably never crossed her mind.

That was the way of pirates—only through danger does one grow stronger. "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger," as the saying goes.

As for her true goal, who could say? Maybe she simply found it amusing to manipulate others.

Gill thought to himself that if he were ever captured and sentenced to public execution like Portgas D. Ace, the remnants of Rocks' era—those monsters who once served under Rocks D. Xebec—would never risk their lives to save someone like him.

So, the surname "Rocks D." was meaningless—nothing but trouble waiting to happen.

After sorting out his thoughts, Gill looked up at the distant horizon. A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he muttered:

"But you were right about one thing… maybe I really am destined to shake this ocean."

As soon as the words left his mouth—

An invisible pressure erupted from Gill's body. The air distorted and the sky darkened as black lightning crackled through the air. A wave of sheer will burst outward like a storm, flattening the grass and shaking the ground!

Gill's will snapped back, and the overwhelming pressure vanished as suddenly as it appeared.

He exhaled and chuckled softly.

There was no mistaking it—this was Haoshoku Haki, the Conqueror's Haki possessed only by those born to rule. And the fact that he could already restrain and release it at will… how could he not be thrilled?

"Conqueror's Haki, huh? The flashiest of all powers," Gill grinned. "Even if you lose the fight, you should never lose your presence!"

After getting used to the surge of strength coursing through him, Gill turned to the figure standing on the hill in the distance. The setting sun stretched the man's shadow long across the grass.

Up on the slope, Edward Weevil was still kneeling before Miss Buckin's grave, mumbling to the tombstone.

"Weevil! Time to go!"

Hearing Gill's call, Weevil bowed his huge head one more time, then got up and chased after him with lumbering steps.

What's it like to have a five-meter-tall powerhouse charging toward you?

Gill could only say—it's terrifying! He was genuinely afraid that Weevil might lose his balance and either step on him or crush half the hillside by accident.

"Careful, you big oaf! You trying to kill me?"

"Sorry, brother."

Weevil scratched his head awkwardly, his tone simple and sincere.

Hearing the word "brother" made Gill's irritation fade. After all, who could stay mad at a guy built like that—massive, pure-hearted, and stupidly strong?

"Weevil, give me your hand."

Weevil obediently extended his enormous hand. Even though he wasn't swinging with his full strength, the gust from his movement made Gill's hair whip wildly as he struggled to keep his balance.

Looking at the huge fist—larger than his own torso—and the wrist thicker than his waist, Gill couldn't help but think that one day, this "little brother" might accidentally kill him.

"This is for you. Keep it as a souvenir."

From his pocket, Gill took out the thick golden chain he had taken from Miss Buckin's neck and wrapped it around Weevil's wrist.

The chain, which once gleamed arrogantly around her neck, now looked like a perfect bracelet on the giant's arm.

"Wow! Haha! It's Mom's necklace! That's awesome! Thanks, brother!"

Weevil's eyes lit up. He looked down at the chain and grinned so wide his whole face scrunched up. It was as if his mother was still there with him. Overcome with emotion, he grabbed Gill and rubbed him against his cheek.

"Hey! Idiot! Stop that! You're getting snot all over me!"

"Gentle! You'll crush me, you moron!"

"You trying to kill me, you big fool!?"
