Aline stood in front of a metallic gate, staring at the bold letters engraved on it.
"You can do this, Aline. You are asking for justice for your sister." She gave herself a silent courage.
Taking a deep breath, she walked inside. Looking at the hustle and bustle of uniform cluttered officers, she felt little loss.
A young female officer made eye contact with her.
"Yes, Miss?" Sensing Aline's anxiety, she approached her.
"Hi, Miss. Officer Natalie here. Do you need any assistance?"
Aline also walked towards the officer Natalie and greeted her. "Good afternoon, officer."
" I am here to file a FIR." Aline's voice was little low, unsure.
Natalie have dealt with many people, and meeting a timid girl to file FIR was not something new to here.
She pulled a chair for Aline and gestured her to sit down.
"No need to be anxious, ma'am. We are here to serve you. Please be comfortable and speak at your heart." Natalie's words make Aline little confident.
"Officer," Aline's olive eyes, reflected her hope as she start talking.
"my sister was pushed from second floor by someone. He-her condition is quite critical, and I want to let that person not go without getting punished." Her words have the pain of her heart in them, anyone can feel it.
Natalie got little surprised as she thought Aline might have come to file a harassment or stalking kind of FIR when she looked at her first.
Her being young and honestly being one of the most beautiful girl Natalie has ever seen. She wasn't expecting this, but her surprise didn't last too long.
Well, case is case. Either way, the girl in front of her was in trouble.
" Alright, Miss?"
" Aline Wilson." Aline replied at her questioning gaze
"Well, Miss Wilson, can you give me the brief details of the incident and why do you have to come at the police station? It's already a police case regardless of how the incident happened." Natalie spoke as she got confused if there was something like this. It should have already been reported, she thought.
Natalie's confused eyes stung Aline's heart.
If it were not for her to find some courage and come here, this matter was already sweeped under the rug by that so-called family, Aline thought.
Looking at Aline's lost demeanor, Natalie didn't press too much.
This lady doesn't look quite right, so asking all the questions while keeping her condition in mind is least what she can do. With this thought in her mind,
Natalie start speaking. "All right, Ms. Wilson, can you provide details when this incident happened? "
"Was there any eyewitness? What was the cause of the incident, and was there any previous feud between both parties to let this happen?" Natalie summarized all the important questions in one and took the pen from the desk to record the details for FIR.
Taking a deep breath, Aline closed her eyes for a moment.
Amy's smiling face flashed in front of her as if giving her courage to narrate this nightmare of hers again.
"My sister, Am-Amy she was at her friends house." Aline spoke unsure from where to start.
" After the incident happened, I was informed by he-her friend. I-I don't know who was present at that time, but I was told–the person involved has accused my sister of theft without any proof. " Aline start narrating the whole incident, her voice soft as if unsure if she is describing a dream or reality.
" This is outrageous." Natalie Mutter under her breath as she learnt about the whole incident.
Aline eyes twinkle with little hope, as she saw the rage in natalie's eyes.
She seems honest and fearless office,
Maybe she will stand against morgels.
Aline thoughts gets interrupt by natalie's call.
"Yes?"
"Miss Willson can you give me the details of offender, his name , possibly his address and other details would be better. " The paper in her hands was all filled details, just small portion left, Aline's heart warm up by the sight.
Just little bit more and then–that bastard.
Shaking her head to get rid of her unnecessary thoughts.
" His name is Alex–alexander Blackstone." Her voice sound determinet with sweeping hatered in her tone.
Natalie looked up, bewildered expression on her face.
"Alex what?" She asked as if unsure, if she heard right.
Aline felt if the atmosphere around her changed, bracing herself, she spoke again.
"A-Alex Blackstone." Her eyes shift from Natalie's face as if she doesn't want to see the expression of officer infront of her.
Her eyes felt on the file in natalie's hands, the stark contrast of red ink and white paper was giving bloody aura.
At the bottom of the paper, where should have been the name of officer– was a pool of red ink as if natalie's hand didn't have strength to write those four words, her pen glued on spot.
The tiny drop of red ink start seeping around creating an ugly red spot, as if blood is splurged on the paper.
Aline felt uncomfortable by its sight.
"Miss Willson are you sure?" Natalie's voice brought Aline back to senses. Officers confused and little suspiciously accusing eyes made Aline's skin crawl,
As if not convinced by her words.
Putting her discomfort aside , she is here to get justice for her sister, and this journey would be anything but easy and judgement free.
"Officer I am well aware of what I am saying. And who I am talking about. And as a public officer, I am putting my trust in you to get justice for my sister. " Aline looked straight into Natalie's eyes and continued
" I hope you wouldn't make me disappointed in you or our system." Shedding her previous timed demeanour, Aline's words held a unique power in them, suprising Natalie by her shifted behaviour.
" Rest assured Miss Willson, I would try my best to keep that trust of yours, but let me honest, " Natalie shifted, standing up from the seat .
" The name you said is not some thing I can casually write in FIR. I do need to consult my officer incharge, before taking your complain." Natalie spoke still professional but Aline can detect uncertainty in her voice.
A bitter feeling aroused in Aline's heart, as if she already know the out, come of all this.
But still with that tiny bit of hope, she looked into Natalie's eyes and spoke,
"Officer, I really don't want to get disappointed from here."
Natalie's eyes shifted, she put her hand on Aline's, " Rest assured, I will try my best to get that name on this peice of paper, when I come out from that office.
Her honest and determinet eyes, assured Aline's heart maybe her sister wouldn't suffer in silence
