"GAH!" choked Marc, bringing both his hands to his chest and rubbing the impact zone, trying to erase the pain.
"What the fuck!" he yelled at Alex. "waky, waky, mathafaka." Sung Alex with a smile from ear to ear.
Annoying Marc and being with him are some of the things that help him get his mind off the suffering.
After waking him up, he turned around and walked to the window before jerking the curtains to the side.
"It's a beautiful day outside," he said.
Then he turned around, faced him, and continued:
"I thought that bears only hibernated during winter, but it seems you do it all year round, eh?" he teased to a still more sleep than awake Marc.
"You twig like bastard! Ima snap you like a branch!" replied Marc and jumped onto his feet.
He turned towards Alex and started to run towards him to give him some deserved affection.
Alex reacted so quickly that it looked like he had been expecting such a response, so he quickly dashed to the door and closed it before Marc's paw- I mean, hands got a hold of him.
"Take a shower and let's head to the dining room together. Mary is preparing breakfast. I will wait outside, don't take too long."
Alex said before putting his back against the wall in front of Marc's bedroom door and settling to wait for him, a bang on the door was the only thing he got as an answer.
15 minutes later...
The door opened, and from inside came what should have been a kid, but at the same time, really wasn't.
Standing at a whopping 170cm, making him quite tall for a 14-year-old, with short light brown hair, green eyes, a Roman nose on the bigger side, and a squarely face.
His body was bear-like, not in fat, but rather in the sense that he was thicker and looked strong, even though all the kids ate the same food.
"This size of yours always amazes me, you know that, right?" Said Alex, looking at the approaching Marc.
"Yes, you might have mentioned that a couple dozen times, yes." replied Marc, rolling his eyes, and continued," You might get bigger if you eat as much as me".
' The thing is that I, in fact, do eat as much as you,' Alex thought, amused.
" Come on, let's go, the other might have already started." finally said Alex.
He then separated his back from the wall and turned towards the aisle that leads to the dining room.
" Okay," replied Marc, also marching toward the dining room.
As he got closer to Alex, he… *smack* hit him on the back of the head while making it seem like he was stretching.
" Whoops, sorry, hand slipped." said Marc with a smug grin.
"Ouch! You fuck-" Alex didn't get to finish his sentence before Marc cut in
" That's what you get! Did you think I would have forgotten? I still have your damn hand printed on ma chest!" Said Marc in a fake, angry tone.
-" Damn bear." said Alex as he started walking toward the dining room.
-" Stickman." Replied Marc as he followed.
As they walked, both of them looked at each other and after a moment, both of them started laughing quite loudly -" Hahahahaha"-.
As both of them reached the dining room downstairs, the sound of chattering resounded, clearly announcing that they were the last to arrive.
Entering the dining room, they were greeted by the faces of the 44 children that occupied the space and the sight of the ladies working on giving all of them breakfast.
"Hey, you two are finally here, I could hear both of you laughing upstairs all the way from here." said Mary warmly to the boys before continuing." Go take a seat, both of your breakfasts are on the way."
" Okay, thanks, Mary." "gotcha, thanks," said Alex and Marc respectively as they went to their seats, occasionally greeting some kids.
After having breakfast, Mary pulled them aside to speak to them. " Hey, both of you, can you do me a favor and go grab some stuff from the village that has been requested by the orphanage?"
" Sure." Replied both of them at the same time, this was nothing abnormal, as the oldest children in the orphanage, they were assigned tasks from time to time to relieve the ladies working there.
The tasks ranged from doing grocery shopping like now, to cutting grass or sometimes taking care of the children, all menial tasks that they could do and would be of help to Mary and the others.
"Thanks, both of you, sweetharts." Said Mary before getting busy with other stuff.
Alex and Marc returned to their rooms to get ready to leave.
After they got ready, both of them started walking toward the exit of the orphanage. Upon exiting the place, a small dirt road decorated with bushes on both sides that are starting to grow flowers greeted their view.
Behind said bushes was an extension of green, and at the end, a 1-meter-tall wall with a 1.5-meter-tall iron fence that closed all around the orphanage.
On the other side, a short, freshly cut grass where some kids and caretakers were playing came into view, consisting mostly of boys since girls were adopted faster normally.
After reaching the end of the dirt road, a metal door made of iron bars was the last thing stopping them from truly exiting the orphanage.
The boys opened the door and took a step outside, quickly walking away from the place since the task would take a toll on time because the amount of stuff the orphanage got was so big that they needed multiple trips back and forth to the village market to actually bring everything on the list to the pantry in the kitchen.
"It seems that today we will be drained. Have you seen this shopping list? It's huge!" exclaimed Mark while looking at Alex with a mortified gaze.
" Yes… It's quite hardcore," replied Alex, in low spirits. " It seems we have to leave adventuring for tomorrow." he concluded.
"Damn, and I was excited for adventures." lamented Marc before both of them started walking to the village market.
