Chapter 67 - Chapter 67: A Family I Like to Cultivate

The day after the "Battle of New York" and the "Death of Superman" major events.

All two counselors and thirty-two students from Vincent's class boarded a school bus dispatched from Washington and returned to school.

At noon, when the school bus arrived at the school gate, a crowd of waiting student parents could be seen. Many students got off the bus and reunited with their families, immediately bursting into tears, and the scene was filled with wailing.

It must be said, this was truly a narrow escape.

After all, as of current statistics, the number of people who died in the Battle of New York has reached tens of thousands, and countless people are missing. For the students in the class to be on the edge of the central battlefield during the incident and all return to school without a single loss, it was clearly a great miracle. Many reporters had already rushed to the school to interview, fortunately, they were intercepted by school staff.

"You've worked hard, Counselor Roth, Counselor Beck." The school principal and teachers specifically rushed to the gate to warmly welcome the two counselors as they got off the bus.

"It's no hardship, it's my duty as a counselor!" Counselor Roth laughed heartily, showing no trace of fear, his magnificent and upright image earning applause from many female teachers and parents.

Vincent and Gwen exchanged glances, sharing a knowing smile, and silently kept quiet about the counselor's breakdown in the mall.

The assistant counselor, Quentin Beck, looked dazed, lost in thought, and walked into the school's office building alone.

The principal announced loudly: "Students, you've been through a lot. You can now go home with your families and return to class after a day of rest."

Immediately, parents dispersed with their students.

Vincent and Gwen separated on the bus, as they had both seen their families.

Gwen waved and walked towards a police car parked not far away, while Vincent, carrying Gwen's backpack, walked towards a street sign across the road, where a black-haired woman was leaning, waiting in the most conspicuous spot.

"Aunt Diana!" Vincent came up to the woman, seeing her cherished face, and had many things he wanted to say.

Diana evidently knew what Vincent was thinking. She first placed her hand on Vincent's head: "You did very well." Then, gently holding his hand, she softly said: "Let's go home first."

"Meow!" At the same time, a small orange beast's figure poked its head out from Diana's trench coat pocket.

Vincent smiled. He used his finger to tickle Little Emperor's soft chin, took it out and held it in his arms, nodding: "Okay, let's go home together."

...At home, in the main hall.

Vincent embraced the slender waist, perfectly proportioned by a deity, his head resting in the soft, warm crook of an arm, holding the Flerken cub with its excellent fur quality in his arms, and sat with Aunt Diana on the sofa in the hall, both wearing Guardian Silver Bracelets that formed a pair.

Without concealment.

Vincent recounted his experiences during the Battle of New York, and during this time, Diana also spoke of her experiences in Gotham City.

What seemed like ordinary, harmonious family communication, every word contained core information about the two major events!

"Superman was actually questioned to such an extent by the citizens of Metropolis... even though his initial intention was only to save humanity, he was then interrogated for destroying buildings and accidentally harming humans... the battle between the two superheroes, Batman and Superman... the ultimate monster 'Doomsday' from Kryptonian origins..."

Hearing his aunt's narration, Vincent suddenly remembered a saying he learned in his previous life.

Those who carry the torch for the many should not be left to freeze in the wind and snow!

Was Superman truly killed by the Doomsday monster? Perhaps, but for him, humanity's doubts and slander were definitely sharper and more painful than the talon that pierced his chest!

Diana was also surprised to hear about Vincent's trip to New York. Compared to her, who only participated in the Gotham City war midway, Vincent could be said to have directly reversed the situation of the Battle of New York.

"That girl from the neighboring community, Gwen Stacy, has mutated Super Spider abilities, and the girl with magnetic abilities, Lorna..." Diana's beautiful eyes lit up. She always thought from Vincent's perspective, and now she thought that even if she wasn't around, there would be someone to ensure Vincent got buffs.

"So, what do you plan to do with those two items you obtained?" Diana asked Vincent curiously.

"Simple." Vincent picked up Gwen's backpack from the nearby sofa. He unzipped it and took out a black and white women's spider uniform—

Oops, wrong item... Under Aunt Diana's calm gaze.

Vincent's mouth twitched. He quickly put Gwen's uniform back and took out the metal sphere and metal cube hidden inside.

The Gem Scepter, the Tesseract... "Little Emperor, help me eat something." Vincent said, pinching the orange kitten's mouth in his arms. Little Emperor didn't even open its eyes, continuing to doze comfortably, but still obligingly opened its cat mouth.

Despite being a mouth less than half a fist in size, when Vincent shoved the palm-sized metal sphere into it, it went in very easily.

He continued to place the Tesseract into the Flerken's exclusive miniature universe.

Vincent blinked: "There, it's done."

Not to mention that only Little Emperor can open the Flerken's space; as long as no one knows the whereabouts of these two items, even if they see Little Emperor right in front of them, they won't notice.

It could be said that this is probably the safest vault on Earth.

"Aunt Diana, I have something I want to discuss with you." Vincent hesitated, then spoke.

As a result, Diana seemed to know his thoughts and smiled slightly: "You want to help that girl named Wanda, right?"

"Yes." Vincent said directly: "She just lost her parents, and her brother was taken away. I'm not comfortable leaving her alone in New York."

"That's actually quite simple."

Diana pondered for a moment, then said: "I can arrange for that girl to transfer to a private school in Washington, have her live nearby, and cover her living expenses."

Vincent suddenly asked curiously: "Aunt Diana, how much money does our family have...?"

In his impression, before he knew Aunt Diana's demigod identity, his family was at a middle-class, comfortable level. There were no luxurious items in the house, but they lacked nothing either; at least, the clothes they wore were designer brands.

Diana tilted her head, thinking: "I haven't really taken a careful inventory. I bought quite a few antiques in the past, so the current assets should be around a billion U.S. dollars."

"H-how much... a billion? U.S. dollars?" Vincent's eyes widened. This wasn't a few million or tens of millions, but several hundred million U.S. dollars!

Diana said softly: "It's nothing. I've just been working for eighty years. I started by restoring artifacts at the Louvre, then invested in some finance after World War II. Due to my identity, I've worked in various industries like archaeology, computer science, and law."

Money, to her, was just a string of numbers. More or less, it didn't matter; enough was enough.

As for work, it was merely to integrate into the human world.

Listen to that, what a Versailles statement!

Vincent looked at his perfectly beautiful aunt nearby and couldn't help but say: "Rich woman, I don't want to work hard anymore!"
