Yu Yachen wasn't going to stay in a hotel. To raise this little rabbit, she had the system teleport her back to her apartment in Lungmen. She carried Yelena by the scruff of her neck and tossed her into the bathroom.
"Wash yourself."
"SLAM—"
The door was shut.
But, as if she couldn't quite trust the rabbit, she opened the door again. "See that silver thing on the wall? Left is hot, right is cold. Don't turn it too far. Don't burn yourself."
"There's soap. Don't come out until you're clean."
"SLAM—"
After shutting Yelena in, Yu Yachen sighed. Now she had to go buy clothes. She couldn't let the kid run around in a towel.
"..."
She went downstairs to a children's clothing store. After picking out a few outfits, she selected a brown bear-themed pajama set and put it in her basket.
The cashier looked at the cold, beautiful woman. "Do you need... children's underwear? Our new cotton series..."
"Give me three sets."
Yu Yachen cut her off. She still needed to buy toiletries.
But just as she was about to pay, Killer Queen materialized and pressed down on her hand.
"?"
Yu Yachen glanced at the expressionless Stand. Killer Queen gestured with its head. Its finger was pointing at the top shelf... a row of stuffed bunnies, sharks, and bears.
Yu Yachen sighed. "And... add a few of those stuffed animals."
If Ch'en Huijie was half a child, and the cat was the other half... this is what it's like to raise an actual kid. It's too much work.
She returned home, bags in hand. The shower was still running. Since she'd never planned on having a roommate, she only had one bedroom.
After putting the clothes away, Yu Yachen knocked on the bathroom door. "If you're done, wrap yourself in a towel and come out."
"Okay..."
A faint voice. The door opened, and steam billowed out. Two wet rabbit ears peeked out.
"Do you know how to use a hair dryer?"
Yelena just shook her head.
"Sit there."
Yu Yachen pointed to a small stool. When Yelena was seated, she grabbed the dryer...
...only to find the kid's hair was still a greasy, matted mess. When she touched it, her fingers got dirty.
"Go back and wash it again. Squeeze the shampoo bottle."
Sensing the woman's icy gaze, the little rabbit shrank. Her wet ears drooped. "I-I'm sorry."
She seemed terrified that this woman would treat her like the guards. She clutched her towel and fled back into the bathroom.
Yu Yachen glanced at the timid child, then went to the kitchen.
People who've been starved should eat soft foods. She decided to make congee and steamed egg.
"System, how much do I have to do to complete this mission?"
[Just fatten her up a bit! By the way, there's a rating system this time. ?u(?u)]
So troublesome.
As she was thinking, Killer Queen phased out of her body and through the bathroom door.
Yelena was staring at the wall of bottles, confused. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain. Her finger was bleeding.
At the same time, a pale-pink, cat-headed figure appeared.
"Wah—!"
Yelena yelped, shrinking into the corner. But Killer Queen just retracted the [Arrow] into its body. It raised a finger to its lips.
"Shh."
"If Yu Yachen hears you, she'll spank you."
The cold, clear voice echoed in the bathroom.
"A-Are you... a ghost?"
Yelena's voice was a whisper.
Killer Queen tilted its head, looking just like a large cat.
"I'm not a ghost. I am Killer Queen. I am a Stand."
"Killer... Queen?"
Yelena repeated the name, her small eyes wide with confusion. But seeing it could talk, her fear subsided. After its evolution, Killer Queen was leaner. It was... almost cute.
Before she could process it, Killer Queen reached out... and pressed the shampoo bottle.
"Like this. Three pumps. Then, put it on your hair."
The Stand spoke in Yu Yachen's exact voice.
"You're Ursus, so of course you can't read the Yan script. That idiot Yu Yachen... she didn't even think of that."
"Do you... know that big sister?"
"I am her Stand," Killer Queen replied flatly.
"I'll wash your hair. It's too long for you to do alone."
"C-Can you?"
"Of course. I'm not cold like Yu Yachen. She just sees you as a tool."
Killer Queen patted Yelena's head.
It crouched in front of her, its pink cat ears twitching.
"Listen, Yelena," it said, in that same cold voice. "If that idiot is ever mean to you again... you do this—"
It opened its mouth, made its hands into claws, and...
"HSSSSSS—!"
Yelena jumped.
"What... was that?"
"It's how you show you're angry. Even if she abandons you, it's okay. I'll protect you."
Killer Queen patted her head again.
The young, innocent rabbit slowly nodded.
