Chapter 23 - A Great Harvest

A great harvest!!

This was absolutely a great harvest!!

All the proficiency points he had gained added up to a staggering 310 points.

What did that mean?

It meant explosive growth.

Normally, when Zhao Xuan trained seriously for an hour, he'd only earn about twenty proficiency points.

But now—after a half-hour battle—he had earned more than 300 points, and on top of that, the most precious thing of all: real combat experience.

"As expected, battle is the best way to temper oneself!"

Zhao Xuan couldn't help but sigh with emotion again.

"Still, even though fighting lets me raise my proficiency across multiple abilities at once and boosts my strength quickly, the recovery time afterward is just too long."

"At least a full day of rest is needed before my body returns to normal. That's way too much wasted time!"

Feeling his body's weakness, Zhao Xuan frowned.

Just then—

Tap, tap, tap!

Footsteps suddenly echoed from outside the ward.

Moments later, a nurse in white briskly walked in.

"Oh, you're awake?"

Seeing Zhao Xuan awake, the young nurse's face showed a hint of surprise.

Before Zhao Xuan could reply, she continued, "Looks like you've got impressive recovery abilities. The one who fought you yesterday is still unconscious, you know."

"Heh… haha… just lucky, I guess."

Zhao Xuan scratched his head and smiled modestly.

"Here, give me your hand."

The nurse said, grabbing his right arm.

Under Zhao Xuan's watchful gaze, she inserted a needle into the vein of his forearm, then swiftly connected the other end of the tube to a hanging pouch filled with a thick, milky-white liquid.

"Alright, rest well. When the drip's done, press the service bell by your bed and I'll come take it off."

After giving that brief instruction, the nurse turned and left the room.

"This world has IV drips too?"

Zhao Xuan studied the slowly dripping liquid with curiosity, muttering to himself before closing his eyes to rest.

After a short while—

He suddenly opened his eyes wide.

His gaze locked onto that pouch of milky-white fluid.

"What is this?"

"Why do I feel my weakness fading away so quickly!?"

He hurriedly opened his status panel and stared at it. His Physique was rapidly recovering, little by little.

"At this rate, once this bag is done, my body should be back to eighty or ninety percent of full strength!"

Thinking that, Zhao Xuan's expression turned excited.

"If I could get my hands on more of this stuff, couldn't I jump straight into another battle right after one ends? Wouldn't that mean I could grind proficiency endlessly?"

The more he thought about it, the more thrilled he became.

Time quietly passed in that excitement.

After about half an hour, the pouch of milky-white liquid was empty.

Zhao Xuan quickly pressed the service bell.

Soon, the same nurse came hurrying back.

"All done, huh?"

She glanced at the emptied pouch and asked, "How do you feel now? I'd guess you're almost fully recovered, right?"

"Yes, Nurse."

Zhao Xuan nodded. "I feel completely fine now."

"That's good. You can be discharged, then."

As she spoke, the nurse removed the needle from his arm, tidying up the used equipment.

"Nurse, I have a question."

Zhao Xuan got up from the bed and asked.

"What is it? Go ahead."

"That liquid you just gave me—what was it? How did it let me recover from weakness so quickly?" Zhao Xuan asked intently.

"Oh, that? It's called Energy Solution," the nurse explained. "It's refined from various spirit herbs collected from ancient ruins."

Sensing his interest, she added, "Though this is just a low-grade Energy Solution, it's not cheap. A 100-milliliter pouch like that costs two hundred thousand on the market. Even our internal price is around a hundred seventy thousand."

"What!? Two hundred thousand a bag? That's insane! Only those rich enough to own a mine could afford something like that!"

Zhao Xuan had already guessed it wouldn't be cheap before he asked, but still—

He hadn't expected it to be that expensive.

"Fufu~"

The nurse giggled softly and said, "For Ability Users, though, two hundred thousand isn't that bad. It's still within reach—after all, there are plenty of bounty missions from the Ability User Guild that pay extremely well!"
