Chapter 155 - A helicopter flew close to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.

One minute earlier.

A helicopter had approached the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.

The control tower immediately issued a warning. According to protocol, if the warning was ignored three times, the aircraft would be attacked without hesitation.

After all, the people currently aboard this ship were anything but ordinary.

But even if there were no important figures onboard, any unidentified aircraft approaching the Helicarrier would still be driven away.

However—

The people on the helicopter attacked first.

It was an arrow.

An arrow that could turn.

Of course, this wasn't traditional archery.

Instead, it used high-altitude airflow. After being fired, the arrow rode the air currents, slammed into the hull, and its high-explosive charge instantly tore open a massive hole!

Steel fragments peeled away like sheets of paper, fluttering down through the sky!

This arrow was incredibly precise—not only did it blast open an entry point, it also destroyed one of the ship's engine modules!

As a result, the massive Helicarrier tilted sharply, and everyone inside felt the violent shaking!

"Move!"

Hawkeye led a team of mercenaries straight toward the breach!

If one looked closely, they would notice something terrifying about Hawkeye's eyes.

His pupils were wrong.

They were under control.

Controlled by Loki—through the Mind Scepter.

Meanwhile, the culprit himself was still being interrogated by Black Widow.

As a veteran agent, Natasha had already sensed something was off.

Loki's entire capture had been suspicious from the start.

First of all, when S.H.I.E.L.D. initially began tracking Loki, their technicians were like headless flies—there was no trace of him anywhere.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s technology was advanced, yes—but it wasn't omniscient.

Trying to find Loki among the masses was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Without Dr. Banner's assistance, it took them an exceptionally long time to finally locate him.

But that raised an obvious issue.

Given Loki's speed and efficiency, he should have reached Country D long ago, acquired what he wanted, and vanished into the crowd once more.

In fact, if Loki truly wanted to hide, Earth's technology simply couldn't find him.

Yet when everyone finally arrived—

Loki was openly bullying civilians, brazen and theatrical.

As if the commotion wasn't loud enough.

Deliberate.

He had wanted to be caught.

Natasha had reached this conclusion and confirmed it through multiple pieces of evidence.

That was why, when Nick Fury ordered her to interrogate Loki, her first question wasn't about the Cosmic Cube—

It was about why Loki had intentionally shown himself.

But if Loki were that easy to crack, he wouldn't be the God of Mischief.

Throughout the interrogation, he evaded, twisted, and misdirected.

And ever since Xu Dan had boarded the Helicarrier, the smugness on Loki's face had only grown.

From this alone, Natasha could infer that Loki's capture was somehow connected to Xu Dan.

But how?

Even though she had virtually no direct interaction with Xu Dan, her observations suggested one thing—

It was highly unlikely Xu Dan had cooperated with Loki.

Even if there was some connection, it wasn't the main point.

So what was?

Natasha was thinking hard—until the ship shook violently.

"Enemy attack!" The combat command rang out through her headset.

No need to guess.

This had Loki's fingerprints all over it.

"So you let yourself get captured, just to call in someone to rescue you?" she said coldly. "Isn't that a little redundant?"

"Hah. Scared?" Loki sneered.

Natasha didn't believe a word he said.

At that moment, a figure streaked in through the smoke—

Thor.

The instant the explosion occurred, Thor thought of only one person.

His brother.

He knew Loki too well.

Even though Loki tricked him endlessly, Thor understood one thing—

As long as you kept an eye on Loki, nothing else mattered.

"Loki!" Thor shouted furiously. "Is this another one of your schemes? Do you really think you don't have enough crimes on your head already?!"

The anger erupted the moment he arrived.

After hearing Xu Dan's words on the deck earlier, Thor had finally realized how serious things were.

Those words—

If it were me, I would have killed Loki.

They didn't make Thor disappointed in his friend.

They made him understand, more deeply than ever, the weight of Loki's sins.

Thor's values were upright.

If Loki had remained quietly imprisoned, waiting for S.H.I.E.L.D.'s interrogation to end, Thor would have taken him back to Asgard personally—submitting him to Odin's judgment without interference.

But now—

The attack had come again.

All that remained in Thor's heart was fury.

"Thor Odinson," Loki mocked from inside the cage, "don't you find it disgusting to say things like that?"

...

Watching the brothers argue, Natasha suddenly understood everything.

At last.

She finally grasped Loki's true purpose.

"Loki let himself be captured—to avoid Thor," she said calmly into her headset.

Her words went straight to Nick Fury's ear.

Two top-tier strategists.

Their minds raced in unison.

They instantly understood.

Then came the next question.

Now that Loki's first objective had been achieved—what about the second?

This wasn't dodging just anyone.

Born in Asgard, Loki knew Heimdall's abilities better than anyone.

The moment Loki appeared on Earth, detection was inevitable.

The Rainbow Bridge hadn't been destroyed.

From Asgard to Earth—it took only a few breaths.

A criminal who had once brought Frost Giants into Asgard—

Who would come after him?

Loki bet ninety-nine percent it would be that reckless brother of his.

Reckless men don't think.

If Thor arrived and caught him, no matter what Loki said, Thor would only roar:

"Heimdall!"

And Loki would be forcibly dragged back to Asgard.

The Rainbow Bridge was too fast.

There would be no escape.

And once back in Asgard?

Endless punishment.

Likely confinement alongside the most dangerous criminals.

Forget execution—

He wouldn't even be allowed to take a single step outside Asgard.

And if he couldn't return to Earth—

Then the Chitauri army would be meaningless.

His entire plan would collapse.

That was why he had to let Earth capture him.

Thor might be arrogant, but he was always lenient toward humans.

With so many charges against him, how could humanity possibly let Loki go so easily?
